UND (5-2, 10-7) vs ISU (1-4, 3-14) 1/21 2 PM

UND got a key victory at home over Weber, now they must turn the page and take on an ISU team that they have never lost to since joining the Big Sky

ISU was picked as one of the top teams in the Big Sky and with Big Sky POY candidate Ethan Telfair leading the charge, why wouldn't they? Well things haven't gone their way so far. They have gotten off to a rough start in conference play. Although they did notch a road win last night over UNC last night.

Telfair and his backcourt buddy Brandon Boyd will be another nice challenge for the UND guards, they are looking to finally break through against UND and end this long streak.

UND has a softer part of their schedule coming up and has an opportunity to pile up some wins going into the month of February.  However, they cannot become overconfident.  They must continue their high level of play.

*Stats:

Last 3 games for Geno: 27 ppg, 61.3 FG%, 62.5 3 %, 81.4 FT% 4.7 APG, 3.7 RPG

Other games:

MSU (3-4) @ PSU (4-2).  This is a big game for both squads, PSU got a big home win over the Griz and is looking to push itself to the top of the standings. MSU is looking to their 3rd win in a row to get back into the race for a 1st round bye.

NAU (1-5) @ Idaho (3-3). Idaho looking to make it 3 in a row before traveling to Montana next week, looking to right the ship and climb back towards the top.  NAU just trying to get things going.

SUU (2-4) @ EWU (4-2). Reality setting in for SUU, who has now lost 4 in a row.  EWU looking to keep their surprising start going before a big road swing in Montana next week

Weber (4-1) @ UNC (3-4) Weber looking to bounce back after a tough loss to UND.  UNC falling back to earth a little bit as well

Mont (5-2) @ SAC (2-4) The Griz dropped a surprising game against PSU on the road and looking to bounce back and stay near the top of the standings. SAC looking to make it a rare 0-2 road swing for the Griz and get back into the mix.

 The call:

UND must avoid the potential let-down game after an emotional victory at home.  I wouldn't be shocked if UND got off to a slow start because of it. With that said however, I look for Geno and Hooker to outplay Telfair and Boyd and UND's frontcourt to get back some of their lost confidence from the last couple of games.  I say UND wins comfortably and get ready for the SUU/NAU road swing.

UND 79-64

*Notes:  With 17 points, Quinton Hooker will reach 1500 career points

Halftime

ISU 36

UND 35

ISU had a 15 point lead early by going 4-5 from 3 point range. UND chipped it down, took the lead then lost it. Should be an interesting second half. ISU doesn't look like a 3 win team.
