Vegas_Sioux Posted April 9, 2016 Author Posted April 9, 2016 Remember it's the UND aerospace foundation that purchases and owns the planes. Quote

Vegas_Sioux Posted April 9, 2016 Author Posted April 9, 2016 Donations, foreign student training contracts. Specific fees to aerospace students for fleet refreshing. Quote
BigGreyAnt41 Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 As far as I understand, UND aerospace is always buying new planes and rotating out old ones. The only reason this is news is because they're moving to a different vender and it's a big contract. Here's an AOPA article about it: http://www.aopa.org/News-and-Video/All-News/2016/April/06/Piper-scores-big-with-UND-training-contract It mentions that Piper has agreed to help market the aviation programs and provider scholarships. I'm personally more of a Cessna guy, but it's good to see Piper actively investing in the future of commercial and general aviation. Quote

Parkers Pros Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 A little surprised that since we have a Cirrus plant in town they wouldn't go that way. I drive past it every day. Quote

We had cirrus aircraft can't handle intensive student training, fine to buy if your flying club wants one but multiple student training activities in the cold did not hold up, so we sold them to Western Michigan.
