The Sicatoka
Since 1996 here's how you find the NCAA DI Mens Ice Hockey National ChampionLook at North Dakota's schedule. Find UND's last game. If they won it: National Champion. If they lost it look at victorious team's last game. If that team won their last game: National Champion. If that team lost their last game, the team they lost to is the National Champion. Following that procedure to find the NC you get: 1997: UND 1998: season ended by Michigan (NC) 1999: season ended by BC (season was ended by NC Maine) 2000: UND 2001: lost to BC in NC game 2002: season ended by Minnesota (NC) 2003: season ended by Ferris State (season was ended by NC Minnesota) 2004: season ended by Denver (NC) 2005: lost to Denver in NC game 2006: season ended by BC (season was ended by NC Wisconsin) 2007: season ended by BC (season was ended by NC Michigan State) 2008: season ended by BC (NC) 2009: season ended by UNH (season was ended by NC BU) 2010: season ended by Yale (season was ended by NC BC) 2011: season ended by Michigan (season was ended by NC UMD) 2012: season ended by Minnesota (season was ended by NC BC) 2013: season ended by Yale (NC) 2014: season ended by Minnesota (season was ended by NC Union) 2015: season ended by BU (season was ended by NC Providence) Since 1996 UND has no more than "two degrees of Kevin Bacon" from the National Champion. Yes, a big part of it is making the NCAA's, but right there is a pretty solid measuring stick.

So, in the frozen four years, it kinda has to be that way, what with math and all...its the non frozen four years that make this really interesting

The Sicatoka
I'm surprised nobody's found the interesting one in there: 2002. By happenstance, UND's season was ended in the WCHA first round by the eventual national champion.
cowboys5xsbs
Yea the last 20 years have been ridiculous in terms of consistency. We are almost too spoiled by all the winning.
