The Sicatoka Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 From FightingSioux.com: " ... NCAA's hottest team." (Get your mind out of the gutter Diggler. ) A split at home this weekend against Clarkson and they'll finish over 0.500 on the season. Not bad for a second-year program. Quote
dagies Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 A strong women's hockey team only adds to the aura that is FIGHTING SIOUX HOCKEY! Quote
Diggler Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 Well it's true. Megan Mutrie. Hubba hubba. They are a pretty good team for being in their 2nd year. Next year, I think they could be a middle of the pack team in the WCHA, maybe even stealing a point or two from the Gophers and Dogs. They do lose Stacia "Commie Hair" Backhit though. Quote
ScottM Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 Congrats to the women's team. They've had a pretty nice season for a young squad, and played some tough competition. Hopefully they can build on this and raise a few Title Banners of their own in the near future. Quote

I agree with that...especially the one about Mutrie The women do deserve a ton of credit, are there any more home games left? I'd like to make it to at least one, see how well they've improved from last year. Quote

Raising their GPAs should be on their priority list as well. Wait a second, we're talking hockey here. Screw academics...just win, baby. Quote
Canuck Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 The women play their final games of the season this weekend at home against Clarkson, another Division I independent. Quote

CoteauRinkRat Posted February 18, 2004 Posted February 18, 2004 They have really played well this year. I've seen a bunch of games and have really started to enjoy them. It will be fun next year to play a full-blown WCHA schedule. Quote
redwing77 Posted February 18, 2004 Posted February 18, 2004 I'll probably go to the games this weekend. I haven't gone to a game since the UConn fiasco. Do we still have to go to the ticket window? Quote
The Sicatoka Posted February 23, 2004 Author Posted February 23, 2004 Clarkson's travel schedule was messed up by weather so they only played one game this weekend at The Ralph. Congratulations to the Sioux Womens Hockey team on their 4-0 shutout over Clarkson and their first winning season! http://www.fightingsioux.com/sports/whocke...RELEASE_ID=2702 Quote
SiouxMeNow Posted February 24, 2004 Posted February 24, 2004 Let me add to the congrats for the Sioux Womens Team and their winning season. It's going to take a while (attendance-wise) but they're coming along. Entering the Womens WCHA next year will help them begin building. It's not anywhere near mens hockey but, at times, is very entertaining and a great way for "newbie" hockey fans to get into the Ralph without taking out a second mortgage. UND should follow the U oF M's lead (GAAHH!-CHOKING!! Can't believe I said that!)...anyway...my point was dropping womens hockey ticket prices to as low as humanly possible. 600 people in the Ralph paying $4 a ticket is better than 200 people in the Ralph paying $10 a ticket - plus you've got better concession potential...everyone has to start somewhere!! BACK TO MAIN POINT - Way to go Shantel! (she's a keeper) Quote
