Fetch Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 http://www.grandforksherald.com/content/letter-kelley-should-renew-talks-standing-rock-tribe But Kelly is no friend of UND Sports He has never done anything to remotely try & save the Sioux Name He should not be the one to pick a new name He needs to retire so the process can move forward All these meetings & surveys are BS & will never unite those who care Kelly needs to go ! Or just stay North Dakota until he is gone Quote
Fetch Posted November 22, 2014 Author Posted November 22, 2014 & u Kelly brown nosers - we dont want to hear all ur ncaa/ & Kelly Admin. PR crapola - most of us know what is up Quote
Fetch Posted November 22, 2014 Author Posted November 22, 2014 U good folks who are on committees - get out while u can - THANKS for caring & trying but unless Kelly goes away it won't help U / He may come up with a name but unless it is Fantastic & everyone goes whoa wish I would of thought of that - it will never really sell or enspire anyone We all know we were wronged & just North Dakota is the next best alternative In the mean time if there is any remote possibility of keeping the Fighting Sioux - God Bless those who would try Some will say lets see what names they come up with - OK - but get Kelly out of the process Quote
UNDBIZ Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Although I disagree with your opinion on the nickname, I completely agree Kelley needs to retire. I'm not happy the ncaa took Sioux away from us, but plain north Dakota is not good. If you're expecting any name to be as good as Sioux, prepare to be disappointed. I'm setting the name as "pride" that away I can be happy if something halfway decent is selected. Quote

Or just stay North Dakota until he is gone How could've Kelley have saved the name when the SR tribe won't let their people vote. And what would you have done if the tribes approved the name and next year voted to unapprove the name, then UND would have to retire the name anyways. There is a lot of people to blame for this whole thing but it's not all Kelley. Quote
darell1976 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Anyone have any wet ones ? Funny how Kelley is blamed in your eyes but didn't his boss (SBoHE) try to retire the name when the new REA was being built. That's right he didn't take over UND until 2008. Usually you do what your bosses say or you get fired, unlike your closed minded world that's how the REAL world works. Quote
CMSioux Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 UND knows that Kelly is in the perfect position - He can work through the name change and retire then the new president starts with a clean slate and no nickname baggage or blame. Quote
Sioux-cia Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Do we still have this choice? On a side note, I am friend's with a Native American whose uncle is a huge anti-Sioux name proponent . She recently posted something to which he responded (he's in the military), 'That is why we serve so you can voice your opinion'. I would go far as to say to him this also applies to freedom of speech regardless of whose feelings get hurt. Quote
gfhockey Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Maybe we need the Engelstad family to write a "dear bob" letter Quote
choyt3 Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Maybe we need the Engelstad family to write a "dear bob" letter Why would that be necessary when "organizations" such as the %GOBC exist? Do you have the POWER or not? Quote
