Sioux vs. Bison women

UND leads 39-36 at the half.

The Sioux have outrebounded the Bison 23-11.

The Sioux have committed 16 turnovers :O

I think the Sioux had a lead as big as 10 points during the half, but gave up some ground near the end (though I may have heard that wrong).

Gene "The Visionary" Taylor was interviewed at the half. He was asked if he could understand the Sioux not playing because of an uneven playing field. He responded that he can understand this in the long run, but in the short term because UND has so many great athletes he doesn't think there will be much of a disparity. He was then asked what he thinks about people in the NCC blaming SDSU and NDSU for ruining the NCC, he had an interesting response. He said that the NCC is a great conference and will find otehr teams that can maintain its high level, but NDSU needs to do WHAT IS BEST FOR THE INSTITUTION. Fair enough, and I have never heard him make that statement. Not playing NDSU is WHAT IS BEST FOR OUR INSTITUTION at this time as well. How come that response works on the NDSU end but doesn't for UND? A member of the media needs to bring this up to "The Visionary", I'd be interested in his response. It is a 2-way street, and I am glad I heard The Visionary say that, it gives UND's response that much more credibility.

Maybe Jim should have kept the DI-AA topic (and renamed it "Griping About NDSU Going DI" to be more accurate) :)

That does seem to be a popular topic the past week or so; my own disinterest aside, I do try to respond to the demands of the fans. Anyway, congrats to the Bison on the home basketball sweep; two months ago, I honestly thought N.D. had nothing going on, but NDSU has climbed the ladder. Kudos.

Another attendence of barely over 5000 for the womens game. The Sioux passing was absolutely brutal, and probably made young basketball players worse for watching them tonight, as they displayed perhaps the worst passing that I have ever seen. But, let me be the first Sioux fan to apologize to the Bison faithful for the low attendence numbers, because we are probably to blame again tonight :).

Having to make a choice, the South Dakota State weekend, is a more attractive trip to Fargo for me than the UND weekend. You get 2 games Friday and 2 games Saturday. Both SDSU teams are in the NCC hunt. Augustana will have the former Bison coach Billeter.

Tony:

I respect both you and Jim Dahl for the time and effort that both of you must but into your respective sites, but good grief, even with the ;) happy face after your comment, at least 50% of posts on your site are hard-core snipes at UND. To any reasonable Bison fan, it is an embarrassment to your institution. Corella's comment was tame and rational, with no name-calling. You guys must have skins thinner than grapes, no wonder why there is so much fermenting and whining over there. Have you considered changing Bisonville's name to "Griping about UND not doing what NDSU wants" or "UND-Envy-ville" or "Bisonvile?" If you passive-aggressively complain about a few NDSU jabs on this site, at least act with some conviction on your own site about the reverse issue.

Seriously, Jim Dahl has shown the maturity and vision to make this site a signficant attribute to the UND community. I would hope I could say the same thing about Bisonville in time.

star2city,

You have 297 posts. 45% are in the old I-AA thread. Over 130 total post by star2city mention NDSU, and most of them are not positive towards NDSU. It's just a rivalry thing, and we'll get over it.

Some will get over it quicker than others. :)

Amen. I think the overall level of maturity on this site as it pertains to NDSU is far greater than that towards UND on bisonville. It's not even close. And it starts from the moderator on down. I recall a few weeks ago when tony had a post on his board about "holding his nose and checking out siouxsports.com" for something. That's just juvenile to say the least. It's hard to believe that there are people like JBB, etc. who are allegedly adults and college graduates yet post things you would expect from about a 10-year-old.

What a joke. Almost any comment made on this site by a Bison Fan is responded to by some kind of negative remark towards NDSU. To claim this site and the fans posting here are some how so much above the Bisonville site is just bull$%!#. Maybe if you keep telling yourself this fairy tale long enough it will come true.

Wyobisonman:

Name one in the last thirty days that was downright crude. For each one here , there would be thirty crude references to UND on the Bisonville. But you probably have a different view of maturity and civility.

Bisonmav:

There is a difference between being negative and being crude. Posting repeatedly 6-18 months ago about the difficulty of NDSU (or UND for that matter) would have in getting any sort of all-sports conference affiliation should be classified as hate speech to your ears, right?

I actually like the word "griping".

I said, "griping". Yeah, that's a crime. For the love of Pete, this topic was about a basketball game and, like a lot of topics on this board, it got side-tracked by a rant about NDSU going DI.

Griping was the mildest word I could think of, still too harsh for the ever-so-sensitive Star2City, I guess.

I thought of using "whining" instead of "griping" (thought it too pejorative and overused).

Moaning also sounded a little judgemental.

Doomsaying came to mind but it didn't encompass the variety of opinions about NDSU I had in mind. If only that's all there was - what a fascinating read those posts will make in five years!

"Spewing bile" only appled to StarCity so that was out.

Likewise, "Simpering like a hanky-waving courtier in a hypothetical Court of Fops" only applied to The Sicatoka and Ryan Bakken.

If you want the title of "Most Politically Correct" sports board, I conceded long ago when I put in a Smack board. So, yeah, now the world is subjected to boorish NDSU fans calling Gene Roebuck, "The Great Pornstachio." The horror!

tony, tony, tony, .... we've chatted about this before.

From Merriam-Webster Online (M-W.com)

Main Entry: ad hominem

Function: adjective

Etymology: New Latin, literally, to the person

1 : appealing to feelings or prejudices rather than intellect

2 : marked by an attack on an opponent's character rather than by an answer to the contentions made

Usage:

The ad hominem approach by 'tony' continues.

Note to TS, put down the Latin and step away from the computer - and while you're at it, flip the page on your "word of the day" calendar. I wasn't making an argument, I was ripping you. Your response makes no sense in the context given.

Corella, the general impression I'm getting of UND fans is that you are hypersensitive girlie men* **. The general impression you get is that all NDSU folks are hurtful meanies. Ah, I guess there is no place for anything but junior high irony on so serious a forum as a sports board. Thus, I name you Corella "The Adjudicator of All That is Classy or Not."

* I'm generalizing and only being 73.7% serious, 26.3% yanking your chain - just like the last post (except the ratio in the first post was 11% serious, 89% chain yanking).

** Translated into The Sicatoka simper lingo, "I heard somebody comment that some folks who like to wear faux Notre Dame logos were hypersensitive girlie men <tee, hee, hee, *sniff*, ... hee>."
