coachdags Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Matt Malm has passed away today. Condolences and prayers to his family. Sad, sad deal... My thoughts and prayers are with the Malm's....Matt will be missed Quote
Wilbur Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Prayers definitely go out to his wife and children. As a fellow high school coach in the state of North Dakota he was always kind and very easy to talk to. I knew that his health wasn't the best, and its extremely unfortunate that he went so young. tho0505 Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Sorry to hear that. He was a pretty young guy if I'm not mistaken. Was he terminally ill? What happened? Yes, and yes. He was at least 40 - 45 Quote
GeauxSioux Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 My condolences to the Malm family. Matt was a great person. Although we didn't go to the same schools, we knew each other throught althetics. Matt graduated from Central in 1980. Quote
ticklethetwine Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 My condolences to the Malm family. I knew Matt had cancer and was fighting it but I didn't know he would be taken from us so soon. I hope his family can find some peace in the fact that he is no longer suffering. God Speed Matt until you are reunited with your family and friends again up in the big rink in the sky. Quote
darell1976 Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 As a Grand Forks Central Alum my condolences to him and his family. Such a young guy to pass away, the hockey world lost a good guy. He died of a cancerous brain tumor. http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/193643 Quote
UND92,96 Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 I go way back with Matt. He was a neighbor, and I had him as a coach in four different sports while growing up--park board hockey and baseball, and he was an assistant football and track coach at Central. He was really a good guy, and he will be missed. Quote
Sioux-cia Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Damn, we're losing a lot of good, young people! Matt coached my son in hockey and the article is spot on! He was intense, focused and dedicated to helping his team succeed! He was a great family man as well. I remember when his first child was born. Man, he loved and cherised that little girl. I have pictures of him in the park with her and you could see how much he loved her just by the look in his eyes. He will be missed. Quote
