When is the prospects game with a bunch of our recruits?  Is it being streamed anywhere?  Assuming it is soon since players gone from their junior team rosters.

Brock Schultz has been ripping it up lately with 2 goals and 2 assists more tonight.  Makes you wonder if the new Waterloo staff didn’t utilize or appreciate him like Smaby and Chyzyk did.  Went from little offensive output to producing consistently.  From .33 points per game with 1 goal 3 assists in 11 games with Waterloo to 1.45 ppg on 10 goals, 6 assists in 12 games with Sioux Falls.  Pretty stark difference.

Ethan MacKenzie getting a camp invite for Canada’s world junior team. What a get by Bryn.

Just a snipe on that goal.
Kid is looking like the top offensive dman in the WHL at this point, and there's quite a few studs in the mix.
Can't wait to see him in the green-n-white next season.

Brock Schultz really heating up!  7pt weekend for him.

Quote

EGF's Brock Schultz with a four-point night and a seven-point weekend for Sioux Falls. He's on a nine-game point streak and has scored goals in eight of them. He has 17 points in the last nine games.

Pundits are gushing about MacKenzie's talent & versatility, & in the article below, the author said he has a strong claim to be the best D in the WHL this year. He stated also that MacKenzie is still eligible for the '26 draft, but I don't see him rated by any of the draftboards as to what round he may be picked. If anyone knows why he's not being discussed as to where he may be picked when he's still draft eligible, chime in.

3rd time draft eligibles don't get discussed much unless they're putting up all worldly numbers and scouts really push for that guy. MacKenzie will likely get put into the 3rd-5th round range if he keeps this pace up now.

Hear what you're saying, but it doesn't make much sense for a guy who makes the WJC prelim. roster & is potentially the best D in the WHL to fall to the 3-5th round. He's gifted with unreal acceleration, a great shot & loves to lay hard checks. A coup of the highest order by Chyzyk.

"NoDak just… crushed it with this one. I mean, he may be one of the best recruits on the continent."

He was a below average defenseman in his DY and merely good but unspectacular in his D+1, didn't break out until his D+2. There's enough track record of CHLers who didn't break out until their 19 year old season who've done nothing in the NHL if they even made it, hence why they get ranked lower.

The more interesting consideration is that CHLers weren't NCAA eligible in the modern era until this year, so this developmental progression from major junior to NCAA doesn't have a statistically significant nor long enough track record to be able to project to the A or the NHL.

He's still not going to get picked incredibly early because he's older, which usually means his ceiling is nowhere near as high as the high end 17 year olds.

He was barely eligible by a week or two the first time he entered the draft. There is only about a 1.5 month difference in age between Logan Hensler and MacKenzie. Charlie Cerrato was a mid 2nd round pick last year after being passed up in his previous two drafts.

With that being said, Cerrato played in the NCAA and was one of the better freshman in the country. Jake Livanavage was on the NCHC all freshman team before going undrafted in his D+2. Mackenzie is a little bigger than Livanavage so he will likely get drafted in the later rounds. I do not see him going in the Cerrato range because of his age, size, and level of competition.
