schmidtdoggydog Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 From today's INCH. A scout's take on Parise stock heading into the draft: 2002-03 Statistics: 39 GP, 26-35
OETKB Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 I hope "they" feel he's not ready for about 3 more years! Whoever "they" end up being.
MinnesotaNorthStar Posted June 12, 2003 Posted June 12, 2003 "He's not going to be ready for the NHL right away. A team's not going to want to rush him." Projection: First round As we have all been saying all along. Not ready, yet...will go in the first round.
BigGreyAnt41 Posted June 13, 2003 Posted June 13, 2003 As we have all been saying all along. Not ready, yet...will go in the first round. Do ya think this means he'll stick around school for a few more years even after he's drafted?
MinnesotaNorthStar Posted June 13, 2003 Posted June 13, 2003 Do ya think this means he'll stick around school for a few more years even after he's drafted? yeah, it happens all the time in college hockey.
sagard Posted June 14, 2003 Posted June 14, 2003 yeah, it happens all the time in college hockey. Come on, I visit here for a break from the POI!
MinnesotaNorthStar Posted June 14, 2003 Posted June 14, 2003 Come on, I visit here for a break from the POI! I thought you Gophers loved "Parise" talk? ...We're just trying to reach out to you non-Sioux fans
Slap Shot Posted June 14, 2003 Posted June 14, 2003 He'll play at least one more year, but no more than 3.
MinnesotaNorthStar Posted June 15, 2003 Posted June 15, 2003 He'll play at least one more year, but no more than 3. That's probably right, I would be hard pressed to think that Parise, as good as he is, will stay all four years. I hope he will, but realistically after his junior year he will probably be offered a pretty big contract.
Erick Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 Here's his player bio from nhl.com, very good comments from the central scouting report. ZP on nhl.com I also found this on espn.com, about the draft order. This mock draft says there are some people in Atlanta who want Parise at the #8 spot overall. Or at the #12 spot to the Rangers. ESPN mock draft

ESPN mock draft Something that suprises me, on USCHO the mock draft shows Brady Murray at 183? I thought he'd be a lot higher than that...
Siouxhockey03 Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 Murray is only 5'9" 160. The really good news is he probably will be at UND all 4 years!!!!
MinnesotaNorthStar Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 Murray is only 5'9" 160. The really good news is he probably will be at UND all 4 years!!!! How do you figure? My guess would be Murray will be here 3 years tops. As far as Parise's draft position...please, God, NOT the Rangers, anybody but them.
ScottM Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 Murray is only 5'9" 160. The really good news is he probably will be at UND all 4 years!!!! Actually, I believe Brady is a bit bigger than that with a year in the BCHL under his belt. INCH has him listed at 5'11" and about 178(?) lbs. He's projected to be drafted in the 7th round, which if true will probably keep him at UND for 3-4 years, unless he really turns it up. I think he'll do well paired with Parise again.
PCM Posted June 20, 2003 Posted June 20, 2003 As far as Parise's draft position...please, God, NOT the Rangers, anybody but them. Yeah, I'm a Rangers fan and even I don't want to see them draft Parise. Their record of destroying young talent is well documented.
farce poobah Posted June 21, 2003 Posted June 21, 2003 Yeah, I'm a Rangers fan and even I don't want to see them draft Parise. Their record of destroying young talent is well documented. Almost as well documented is New Jersey's reputation for developing young talent.
PCM Posted June 21, 2003 Posted June 21, 2003 Almost as well documented is New Jersey's reputation for developing young talent. Exactly. And the Devils' record for developing young college talent is a big plus for Zach. I think being drafted in the first round by NJ is the best he could have hoped for. I also think it bodes well for him staying at UND another season or two.

PCM, you took the words out of my mouth... as I forgot to add that New Jersey, as much as any team, doesn't need immediate help, and with financial uncertainty facing, seems unlikely that they would seek to "pull" ZP out. Contrast that with a team desparate for immediate help, like, say, Buffalo....
