  1. Based on what we've seen, I can't argue your point either.
  2. I would say, Harris, Palmborg, and Carter would be better utilized on offense based on skill set.
  3. I honestly feel we have skill guys playing defense who should be playing offense.
  4. Its true...but I'm sure since he traveled, he wanted to give it a shot against UW. But I agree with you. I would not have played Brady at all in a game like this.
  5. LOL yes, pretty much. If you know the story of PV football, they went multiple years without winning a single game. They had once the worst losing streaks in college football in history. They actually wins some games now. When I say resurgence, I don't mean national titles. But they actually win a few games now. Hell, we only won 3 last year.
  6. its all about match ups. PV is going through a resurgence. They are getting decent players that are being overlooked by Texas, Tex A&M and U of H.
  7. There are two trains of thought when calling an offense: 1. Find the perceived weakest link and pick on them or 2. pick on the guy who YOU think is your best cover guy. Deion is regarded as the latter by Bubba so he can expect to have teams go at him, especially coming off of an injury. I wish Bubba and Rudy would identify an opposing DB to target and make the kid prove he can cover. I don't see that as part of our game plan, ever.
  8. UW fans are right to be in meltdown. Our D-line was eating their lunch most of the game.
  9. I don't like to call kids out by name unless I'm saying something positive, but our secondary is still a liability. Many said once injured guys returned, things would be different on the back end. I don't see much difference than last year after two games. UW could not effectively run on us, but they discovered they could attack us outside the numbers. and that was the difference in game. Its a long season and there is time to improve so we'll see what happens.
  10. Brady is nursing a knee from last week. It was smart not to give him more carries in a game like this.
  11. My observations. UW was not as good as advertised. They do not look like a top-10 team in the country. Their run blocking got exposed two weeks in a row. I feel if we had any sort of passing game, we take them down to the wire. If we have a secondary that can actually cover, we win this game. We missed a chance to steal a FBS win. This game was closer than the final score indicated.
  12. I know we will watch film no matter what I say on here. What they will do is no big secret. After watching the Auburn game, they will want to do what they did last week (in their mind) against a lesser opponent to build faith and trust with their players and to get them to trust their system. That's football 101.My post was more about the attitude that we should have going into a game like this. I read talk about folks being negative on the board earlier. There is nothing to be negative about in my opinion and the players should be pumped for this game no matter what posters say on the forum.
  13. As a staff and as a player, this is an ideal game. Playing on the road against a top-ranked FBS opponent. We are playing with house money. Nothing to lose and everything to gain. This is the game to let the dice roll, let your nuts hang and just go play football. For any kid on the team that aspired to play under the bright lights at the FBS level, on a Saturday in a rabid environment, this is your chance to make a name for your university, your family and yourself. This game will set the tone for the 2018 season, win or lose. This is the game you knock the dog crap out of someone, score a TD or get your name in the stat sheet for sacks, forcing turnovers, etc. You remember why you play the game of football. Its about the spirit of competition. Bubba should show football related movies all week to inspire the guys. Studying UW film is waste of time. We should run our stuff, talk smack and smack the first person we see soon as we get off the bus with a smile on our faces. The goal should be to make UW say, damn those are some tough SOBs and we had to pay them $500K for them to come in our house and act like they own the place. Now if we manage to shock the world and get win, that's cool too.
  14. Grand Forks Herald, is a small-town low budget newspaper. No surprise the best they can do is Tom. Perfect fit.
  15. I was impressed with the small sample size that Zimmerman displayed last year. I haven't seen enough Ketteringham to give him my vote. So as of today, my vote goes to Z.
  16. Touche. That was a good one. Birth. Berth. you know what I meant. LOL
  17. He also had dropped balls, missed blocking assignments to deal with, and play calling that left a lot to be desired. No one said he was flawless. But, he had way more positives than negatives by far.
  18. Let's see. The kid was handed the keys to the car as a sophomore. Came within one win of leading to the team to the playoffs in 2015 (actually should have been in the playoffs that year with a 7-4 record) beat Wyoming on the road for FBS win (he had a key long TD run in that game), led the the team to a share of the Big Sky title in 2016, and a playoff birth. Very low interception rate, played hurt, led comeback from behind win against NAU. If he's considered "average", I hope the QBs that succeed him are "average" too. He may not have been named all-conference but he was a pretty damn good college football player at UND. I don't speak from emotion, his resume is solid. #Facts.
  19. There are times when depending on the opposing receiver's ability, you need to roll coverage or double cover a guy. But, any DB worth his salt wants to be on an island. Playing CB is the second toughest job, behind QB; the good ones embrace the challenge. Mistakes are on full display and usually lead to TDs. You are front and center stage at all times. But the coaches should give the CBs the tools to handle being on and thriving on that island. The problem has been just that, our guys are not equipped to be on an island mentally or physically. You gotta have that dawg in you and the technique to play corner, and the scheme has to be conducive to being successful.
  20. Keaton played his tail off every week. He didn't have a dominant OL and the receivers, while serviceable didn't strike fear in opposing DBs. Keaton protected the ball, kept plays alive, and was a threat with his legs. More importantly, he had heart to go with ability and his teammates respected his leadership on and off the field. I can only recall one game where he just appeared to be out of sync, but that happens at all levels.
  21. The players on the roster now have a chance to change the narrative regarding which is a better option, UND or NDSU. Winning matters. If we make the playoffs 2 of the past 3 years, we would fair better in the recruiting wars. Beat Sam Houston, compete against UW, and beat Montana this year. Next year, won't have many kids flipping away from UND.
  22. Its not surprising. College football is a business and "commitment" is a loosely defined term in the world of college athletics. Coaches are recruiting your replacement before you even set foot on campus and play a single snap. I don't fault the kid who changes his mind before coming to UND. Now, it can go to a kid who is waiting to get the call from Bubba to realize his dream of playing football at UND. He just created an opportunity for someone's dream to come true.
  23. Nice to see Bubba let the coaches and players have some fun all in the name of accomplishing team goals. I like it. Enthusiasm is contagious!
  24. No one said fire the strength coach, if I recall correctly. But increased weight needs to translate into being more stout and physical on the field in the trenches. Especially in the A and B gaps (on both sides of the ball). . As for skill guys, they key is to not sacrifice speed and agility while adding more weight. Increased muscle mass is needed to be more explosive and durable late in the game. Seems like step one has been taken care of. Lets see if it reflects on the field. I personally called for revamped and improved...that doesn't mean fire anyone.
