  1. Right or wrong, coaches tend to reward seniors for their commitment and dedication to the program too. So if they have been in the lineup playing at a high enough level, they will not be sitting the last couple of games.
  2. But to answer your question, I am more of a fan of Jimmy Johnson's or Bill Cower's coaching style. Remember I'm old school. I've witnessed cussing and fights between coaches and players in the locker room and at practice but come game day, its all love. I had coaches so worked up they actually have spit flying in your face, because they want you to knocked the dog piss out of your opponent. I loved that stuff.
  3. Put yourself in the shoes of Studs and the other seniors. Would you want to sit the next couple of games???
  4. Belichick and the Patriots are documented cheats. When you cheat, you dont want to draw too much attention to yourself that's probably why he acts like that. Plus he a classless tool when they lose. Disclosure: I am not a Patriots fan.
  5. That's a good way to sum it up. Its all about perspective.
  6. I said I would like to see more passion from Bubba and the coaches during games. I like fiery coaches and level-headed and collected players, but that's not everyone's perspective and I respect that.
  7. this the same kid that has come back from two shoulder surgeries in past two years...and he's still out there...I'd say he has passion for the game. The funny thing about players showing emotion is its very subjective. On a much larger scale, Terrell Owens and to a degree Odell Beckham has been labeled a cancer by many in the media because of his emotion, but others get labeled at leaders for showing the same passion. T.O. would be in the HOF were it not for his "passion".
  8. nice assessment of each noted player...the one that stands out is the one you say Ty doesn't show any motion so you translate that as not caring. Not all players are "hey look at me kind of guys". I was at the Utah game and Ty knocked a ball loose from a receiver late in the game. They put the camera on him soon after the play and he simply got up, gave Disterhaupt some "dap" (who assisted on the tackle) and got ready for the next play. A PSU kid got a sack yesterday and he acted like it was his first sack ever in the Super Bowl. Give me the quiet confident guy any day over a loud mouth kid looking for attention.
  9. Yes,that's Schmidt's recruiting area, but Stepps is the CB position coach who who determines who plays, as he should.
  10. In addition to performance, politics, interpersonal and philosophy always play a role in who gets to play and when. We can't kid ourselves into thinking that it doesn't happen at UND. I saw a story recently about the current starter at QB for Iowa St. This kid has beat OU and TCU (both highly ranked teams) and not too long ago he was playing JUCO ball and told the didn't have the right stuff, and was 3 or 4th on the depth chart at Oregon State and Iowa State.... now he's being hailed as the next Tom Brady.
  11. i don't know this to be fact, just my guess from playing college and coaching high school ball. The staff has seen enough of Z this year already to know how he handles real live action. They are very impressed. However, they are comfortable with letting Studs finish his senior year leading the team.
  12. We fumbled so we will never know. LOL but glad to see some passing today
  13. Blubaugh was recruited by Stepps; Bubba loves Hunt so they will play no matter what.
  14. Studs was less than 100% but played well (sans the the first turnover). Much needed win. Thank goodness PSU OL straight sucks. could have been a long day after going down by 14 early. Their secondary sucks also, thankfully. Their backup QB would have made it interesting had he played more. Their weak OL concealed our secondary play. Good to see the RBs find the end zone today. Our special teams get an A+ for the day. No missed FGs, or blocked kicks compared to a TD by Santiago. Should be a good ride home. Some good mojo going into next week against a quality SUU team.
  15. That's hilarious! Time to open and beer and cross my fingers.
  16. Players have a lot of pride and determination. Studs is a team first guy, but once its over its over. You want to play every snap possible. You see the look on his face last week when they pulled him due to injury. He was disappointed. He is a warrior.
  17. I think Greer will do a good job of holding down the zero technique.
  18. I've seen teams that lack size up front, let the D line stand up and basically play a scatter defense to confuse the OL and mess up blocking schemes. You joke but it has happened before. Never seen them use backup QBs or DBs up front but hey, it would be a new wrinkle.
  19. If Hunt traveled and dresses. He will play...I wasn't told he didn't travel.
  20. I understand what you're saying. We need to finish strong and win as many games as possible. It would be nice to run the table and I'm not saying we won't. But, as the season winds down there are considerations and decision made above and beyond win/loss columns. Just reality. Happens all the time. Evaluations are also being made with regard to the 2018 roster two deep.
  21. We'll know for sure in about 30 minutes who takes the first snap.
  22. The QB decision may be a bit tougher if we were sitting near or atop the BSC and needing a win to get the playoff seed or a first round bye. But to me, its an easy decision; you let seniors who've proven themselves take the battlefield, if they are physically able.
  23. I agree, Zimm has looked fantastic. But, I was told Studs is playing. I think as the Sr, and team captain...he wants to play and is able, he's earned the right to play. If he needs to come out like last week, Zimm is ready to roll.
  24. that's huge...need someone to step up and anchor the middle.
  25. At this point in the season...there are many playing at less than 100% on both sidelines...its gut- check and football pride weekend for UND and PSU.
