  1. I wish I was born in 2000, it would give me some childhood back! And right now, mid-term, I would kill for that!! I was too young to care or understand what the hell was on TV, besides Nickelodeon, of course!!
  2. Wasn't it the anniversary of America the Beautiful? I thought I saw Big Bad Brad Schloss tweet that....If that's the case I really don't mind. I looked through his twitter timeline and I can't find that tweet....Oh well! We sing the Anthem at The Ralph, who cares what CC (Cough cough winless) does at their rink Both patriotic songs....don't really think it has anything to do with PC people....but you know, controversy sells like a mofo. Dolla dolla bills y'all, gotta make our own conflict sometimes! But you have to hand it to the writer of America the Beautiful...Kathy Bates...Well done, Kath
  3. Before I begin, let me be clear I am not totally PRO-roughrider or Nodak, I am simply anti-Hawk. I have not voted yet in this second round of voting, and honestly don't know what I will vote for. So, in response to the video, which I have no clue where it is from (I was the self proclaimed master of references so that makes me sad to say), both of those gentlemen are "Deryl." Fine, great for humor. In the case of Roughriders: one school named Roughriders is a high school which means is covers the local to regional market? If the University of North Dakota were to adopt Roughriders as a name it would cover the regional to national market, no? So how are the two going to conflict? They certainly don't ever play each other in any sport. Graduates of RRHS may become students at UND in which case it's an easy transition for their Roughrider apparel. The argument of "the same two nicknames in the same town," is nonsense because one is an institution of higher learning and the other is a local high school. At the Frozen Four, or FCS Playoffs, or NCAA basketball tournament, who will care whether there are two Roughriders in Grand Forks, ND? Like at the Frozen Four, which happens more often as of late, whats Buccigross going to say, "The Terriers looked good this season, and so did the Roughriders. The Roughriders of UND of course and not Red River High School, if anyone was confused."?????? I'll bet no one, because I guarantee there will be better things to talk about. I'm just saying, and no offense to the good folks over at Red River, but it's a high school versus an NCAA institution. Who cares. Now, Hawks? That's an argument where there are 40+ other institutions using the name or a variation of it. That's a real problem.
  4. Things got super Nordic real quick, and I am not sure I'm comfortable with that. Let me bring a little Irish flair to the proceedings...Guinness and potatoes, anyone? But seriously, just keep bringing the talent and I'm a happy Sioux/Nodak/Roughrider fan!
  5. Isn't that Alabama's mascot? BOOM, ROASTED Or maybe I'm remembering it wrong. Perhaps it was the Ole Miss mascot. BOOM, ROASTED AGAIN. Ha ha ha I don't like the deep south is what I'm trying to say
  6. As I recall we thumped the Fryers (haha I'm funny) in the Friday night game, and tied on Saturday? But yes, they played well in Prahvidence and Bahston in April. Who knows what the VT Cats will do
  7. Agreed. That WAS in. But it's moot now
  8. Is that a joke? Can't kick the extra point?! Oh my......
  9. Pretty much how I pictured this second half going
  10. What......??? Sioux is gone forever. Sorry to break the news, but say goodbye! You also seem to be inserting "tama" in front of hawks which won't happen. So again.....what the hell are you talking about.
  11. Sorry, it may be the Friday night in me talking, but what?!?! What were you trying to say?
  12. I think the idea was they're popular because they're unique to their respective state, not all the same bird
  13. There doesn't have to be a T. Roosevelt fixation. There were plenty of other people who we a part of the Rough Riders. The Library of Congress (Hispanic Division, if that even matters) says the RR's "...became the place for a mix of troops ranging from Ivy League athletes to glee-club singers to Texas Rangers and Indians." http://www.loc.gov/rr/hispanic/1898/roughriders.html
  14. That's just an absolute garbage reason to have Fighting Hawks. I don't know how but I'm going to spread that gif for all to see how crazy it is to become another birdie. Maybe tweet it to Big Bad Brad Schlossman or Miller? Oh and yea that kid can go to NDSU and become a bizun for all I care, I'd rather have UND be Roughriders along with RRHS, than UND be Hawks along with (Insert all the schools). I'm also pretty sure no one outside GFK cares that there's a high school with Roughriders. My high school was the Rams and a lot of kids ended up going to Fordham U or U of Rhode Island, who are the Rams, and they loved it. "Once a Ram, always a Ram," they say. Whatever. Hawks it is. I give up.
  15. Took the long list of logos, found each logo, made a gif. Enjoy, and maybe think about UND's new logo? How bout them hawk logos!?!? CAWWWWW! #SuperUnique #SuperOriginal
  16. You know what gets me really PO'd, what gets me ticked off, cheesed off, miffed, peeved, (other words)? How UConn uses sacred Brass Bonanza as their goal horn. How dare they take that from my defunct Whalers. I'm so miffed.
  17. http://dailycampus.com/stories/2015/10/27/column-uconn-hockey-belongs-in-hartford The second half of that first sentence is open for debate Mr. Madigan. I'm still up to have the Huskies come to town and see a real arena
  18. From that link I navigated to this one which lists schools with bird mascots. He notes at the bottom the most used were hawks and falcons for the same reason (fierce, predator, blah blah bland). I took the liberty of counting ONLY the Hawk, or Hawk related nicknames. I didn't even count the other bird nicknames (Eagles, Ravens, Pelicans, etc.) Here they are, and note that I can't speak to it's accuracy anymore as it was published on 9/13/2006, so take it for what it's worth. Here we go: Dickinson State University (Dickinson, North Dakota) - Blue Hawks Loras College (Dubuque, Iowa) - "Duhawks" (Dubuque Hawks) Hartwick College (Oneonta, New York) - Hawks Hilbert College (Hamburg, New York) - Hawks Hunter College-City University of New York (New York, New York) - Hawks Huntingdon College (Montgomery, Alabama) - Hawks Monmouth University (Monmouth, New Jersey) - Hawks Quincy University (Quincy, Illinois) - Hawks Rockhurst College (Kansas City, Missouri) - Hawks Roger Williams University (Bristol, Rhode Island) - Hawks Saint Anselm College (Manchester, New Hampshire) - Hawks Saint Joseph's University (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) - Hawks San Diego Christian College (El Cajon, California) - Hawks Shorter College (Rome, Georgia) - Hawks State University of New York-College at New Paltz (New Paltz, New York) - Hawks University of Hartford (Hartford, Connecticut) - Hawks University of Maryland-Eastern Shore (Princess Anne, Maryland) - Hawks University of Kansas (Lawrence, Kansas) - Jayhawk Coe College (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) - Kohawks Lehigh University (Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) - Mountain Hawks Thomas College (Thomasville, Georgia) - Nighthawks Indiana University-Northwest (Gary, Indiana) (former nickname: The Blast) - Redhawks Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) (former nickname: Redskins) - Redhawks Seattle University (Seattle, Washington) - Redhawks Southeast Missouri State University (Cape Girardeau, Missouri) (former nicknames: Indians for men and Otahkians for women) - Redhawks LaRoche College (Pittsburgh, Penbnsylvania) - Red Hawks Montclair State University (Upper Montclair, New Jersey) - Red Hawks Ripon College (Ripon, Wisconsin) - Red Hawks University of Massachusetts-Lowell (Lowell, Massachusetts) - River Hawks Illinois Institute of Technology (Chicago, Illinois) - Scarlet Hawks Northwood University (West Palm Beach, Florida) - Seahawks Salve Regina University (Newport, Rhode Island) - Seahawks St. Mary's College of Maryland (St. Mary's City, Maryland) - Seahawks University of North Carolina-Wilmington (North Carolina) - Seahawks Wagner College (Staten Island, New York) - Seahawks Fort Lewis College (Durango, Colorado) - Skyhawks Stonehill College (North Easton, Massachusetts) (former nickname: Chieftains) - Skyhawks University of Tennessee-Martin - Skyhawks Miami University-Middletown (Middletown, Ohio) - Thunderhawks Viterbo University (LaCrosse, Wisconsin) - V-Hawks University of Louisiana-Monroe (Monroe, Louisiana) (former nickname: Indians) - Warhawks University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (Whitewater, Wisconsin) - Warhawks Last I counted there were 42 Hawk or hawk related nicknames. Feel free to count the other birds, I don't have the time or the patience. But seriously please consider this list when voting. I know none have "Fighting" in front but I assure you, it won't separate the University of North Dakota from this list. Let's be 1/1 not 1/42.
  19. All this nonsense has me feeling like Bill O'Reilly that one time
