W-L is important, but less than 6 [SIX] D1 wins puts you in jeopardy. if there is a really good 5 [FIVE, I REPEAT FIVE] win team, we will look at that <---i didn't catch clearly what he said here at the end, whether or not they would look at the five win team or not, definitely he was making the point that the rule was 6 and not 7, even though 7 is the norm.

Jack: what is the weighting of quality wins v quality losses? Mark: blah blah blah. we take into consideration, we look at those things. The 2-3-4 teams that don't get selected, they are always passionate. if it was UNH, SHSU, (some other team i forgot) they would have those same arguments

Mark: we look at wins and losses of teams won and lost against, multiple 7 win teams were considered and left out... yadda yadda yadda They did not have the votes at the end of the day. Dan: why EIU over UND? seems like thats whats bothering UND fans Mark: UND had a couple of great wins, but had a couple of bad losses. EIU didn't have any bad losses. we do have one tool in toolbox, SRS, if i recall WIU and EIU were tracking ahead of UND. We really look at quality wins, losses, and SOS.

FCS victories over FBS just came up, in the context of IA state bringing in FCS coaches. So the theme has been brought up. Says Mark Wilson will phone in at 12:30

I'm thinking the BCS might not do a good job of singling out the best 2 teams, but probably does a good job of ranking the top 20 or so - at least it should get the top 20 in, not necessarily in order.

We've gotten pretty fair outrage from the fargo sportswriters, I would expect similar feelings from Jack.

Bowl possibility would be unreal. The '#QualityLosses' hashtag makes me think hes being snarky. I think we need a Northeast and a South division. Northeast - UND, MSU, UM, EWU, PSU, ISU South - SAC STATE, UC DAVIS, CAL POLY, NAU, SUU, WEBER, UNC Obviously i'm a fan of this split because the strength of schedule talks would be unreal in the northeast.

*would it be wrong if Bubba and Co. pursued former USD and MSU recruits now that there are no coaches at those schools?

With Ash out at Montana State, is it a classless move to go after their recruiting grounds? I ask because in a dog-eat-dog world where that is a norm, we should be headed west right now.

Looking at our schedule we may have to go undefeated to get any respect at all. Stony Brook @ home Bowling Green away USD @ home Montana State @ Bozeman Cal Poly @ home Sac State @ sac Southern Utah @ home Idaho State @ Pocatello Weber @ home UNC @ Greeley NAU @ home A healthy blend of mid-strength Big Sky teams, but any losses in this schedule are going to stick out like a sore thumb. Montana State would usually count for more, will have to see if this fall is the starting of a trend, or an outlier. By the same token, SUU and NAU have been trending up, so we will have to see. Anything less than three losses isn't going to do it next year. Can't afford the down weeks.

It's been said, i think by SFI on twitter, that UND had put together a healthy bid package. Clearly we're not hosting any playoff games, but as a barometer for commitment to the football program, I am curious what Faison offered? Does anyone have any insider info? Are the bids posted somewhere online?

WIU beat 6 teams, while UND beat 7 teams. My point is that you can't at the same time say 'I thought UND should have made it,' while crying SOS of a 6-win team. Its not cohesive.

SFI stated on twitter today something to the effect of 'leave it the NCAA to do something so stupid that it unites both halves of North Dakota.' And that was a nice thought. And it was true. To say that UND got hosed, but then defend the interpretation of criteria that the NCAA used in picking WIU over them, is contradictory. Period. Definitely the language on here has been: UND fans: look at who we beat, versus who they beat NDSU fans: but, look at who WIU played. There is no room for debate on these facts. It definitely seems that the committee, along with the SU fans on this site, feel losses to good teams are more important than actually defeating good teams in tough situations (which fits the MVFC superiority narrative, which is why i suspect SU fans parrot that point). Though WIU's loss to NDSU is confusing to everyone.

Just for the record, this is one of my least favorite statements of all time. Aj Mazzolini is parroting some UM fans saying "no one wants to see us in the post season," and I know SU fans are huge into the "no one wants to be in the fargodome" (which is true). I'd like our defense to develop the mentality that they look forward to the big dogs.

Between snubbing in pre-season coach/media polls, pre-season all-conference, regular polls throughout the year, and finally the playoff selection committee, I wouldn't be surprised if no one on our team got mentioned for anything.

Seems like we've been on the wrong end of a few processes/committees as of late...

On another note, Lakes has shown up in the cal poly forum.

We are pretty eager to cry about not being noticed, myself included, but lets spend these first years getting into playoffs and winning playoff games. I don't doubt the brand that Bubba has instilled, and the recognition will come.

Doesn't hurt to have a stable. Get kind of tired hearing from my NDSU relatives about how "Yeah, we lost ____, but his backup has been torching it in practice for 2+ years now, he's the next _____" while we can't field 1 good RB. So, by all means, bring in 8 or 9 more RB recruits.
