If the coaches are right, and we have an above average year (beating half the teams above us), we still barely crack top 25. I think this is a good reminder to temper expectations for us fans. I think Bubba will do just fine with the team's mentality, though.

Any revised predictions? I remember seeing a lot of 6-7 (hopeful) win seasons predicted, with three tiers of games -- Wins, winnables, losses. With the victory in Laramie, AND getting a look at the rest of the conference, does anyone want to take another shot?

I don't see why not. I guess it remains to be seen how Rudy will utilize the stable of backs but I don't see why Santiago wouldn't have a shot at most of the carries. If he's half as effective as he was against FBS Wyo then he should get to 1000.

Hard not to get excited after the action of the first two weeks. Big Sky will be tough -- we looked better than any of us could've hoped, but so does the rest of the conference.

I'm not sure if anyone on this board wrestled, but it sounds like you didn't. Basically day 1, you are told to make your opponent uncomfortable -- cross faces, arm bars, leg riding, etc. This includes using injuries to your advantage. If your opponent has an injured hand, he better be sure and tape both of them so as to not expose a weakness. I do not see why there is an alleged difference in football?

Not arguing with you there at all. Why not, if a vote deems that "North Dakota" should be the moniker, embrace it and roll out the "we are North Dakota" ads and the like? Why not spend excessive time on it then? I'm simply stating that the 'pro change' people might not all be pro change, and might be more 'pro peace,' and will do whatever the University wants.

Let's be real, if the University stopped calling themselves "North Dakota," they would stop calling themselves anything altogether, you don't get points for saying the University still has a name. I'm saying the ads went away. Rallying behind one slogan or catchphrase sounds a lot like every other school with their nickname, since they stopped rallying behind "we are North Dakota," I will infer that it was never given a fair shot as a standalone name. I will re-establish that marketing HAS been colored toward moving away from being "North Dakota" and into "[insert nickname choice]. (thus propaganda)"

If Sioux83 wasn't racist when you started using it, it isn't racist today. Objective reality exists outside of all opinion, that includes the NCAA (doesn't mean the name is coming back). My argument has never been to continue using the Sioux moniker (see every post I've made on this forum). With the logic of "its never been done before, so we can't do it now" we wouldn't be where we are today. Put bluntly: light bulbs, airplanes, computers, North Dakota hockey, etc. I see no reason to step into that mold.

Fatigue is a terrible reason to lose a fight. Calling something 'not unique' because it hasn't been done before (white sox example) is terrible logic. There is only one North Dakota. North Dakota has never been presented as a future option, and so a full effort has not been put together to sell it to stakeholders. Where have the "we are North Dakota" ads gone now? Why have they stopped. Propaganda to move on.

its a shame they quit but lets remember it could be that they didn't have the commitment but also they might not have been jelling with coaches/teammates or may have just wished to take their lives elsewhere. I would shy away from calling out immaturity or anything on their part, probably not super necessary on this forum.

Compared to the amount of love that the BSC gets elsewhere (see playoff picks every year), this is mildly surprising. Portland State, Weber State, UC davis, and Northern Colorado all below UND @‌ 73. Which I think is an abomination, but obviously we haven't played a game yet to prove it.

I'm fine with the North Dakota into perpetuity. All along in the nickname process I had assumed I would toss my support in with the best (least atrocious) option, but with this final list, I choose North Dakota.

About the populace being ruled by the minority, and the pompous ass remark, i'm a big fan of doing things this way sometimes. However, I don't think pissing off 40% (or 10, or 20, or 30 or whatever the actual number is) of your fan base off is a good way to boost game attendance, merch sales, booze sales at those games. Call me crazy. Bottom line: Our teams are doing fine (recruiting isn't hurt that terribly, despite all these claims that its been markedly hurt). The new nicknames blow. They are bad. Restart the process if we're not going to open it up to a public vote, I'll vote on a badass name, but it would take a hell of a marketing campaign from the school to get me to buy Sundogs gear.

I had seen the poll in this forum, looked to me like it was of a much smaller sample size? But, definitely you are correct in that the polls don't tell us that much.
