I think you can answer your own question-
-
My gut says this guy would deliver phase II in short order. After money, facilities, coaches, ND Culture, stability, how hard can your other "75%" be? Most don't know who and how others supported Faison.......not your fault for not knowing.
-
Pretty straight forward analysis, maybe a little generous to the outgoing OL class because Tom could of just wrote 'often injured and under performed'. I don't know if that was a player talent issue(25%), injury issue(25%), position coach issue(15%) or offensive coordinator issue of bland schematics and over complexity(35%), but we have to do better. (I left blame ratios) We need a young guy (or 3) to step up and play at a high level or 2018 will be another down year.

I am thinking a win based donation in 2018, like $50 - $100 per win. (Not including Mississippi Valley St., they should pay me to watch that game)
-
You don't think we are grounded after last year? You haven't read many posts, then. Ya, a long ways to go and we have gone over why ad nauseam.
-
No offense taken. For the record, Bubba himself was my special teams coach for 'punt return', just for a reference. At that time each coach took a special team and we didn't have a ST coordinator. Of course we were way tougher and complained a lot less than today's generation that plays football.
-
What years did you play? How many college punt returns were you on in your day? Tell me what the coaches say in those meetings then. So our punt block specialist is a 240 lb. D end. Got it! Thanks for stopping by.

I like Hunt, his folks are great people. Hunt didn't run into the punter on a punt safe.
-
Good add - the dreaded SB punt block. About that game - Stony Brook's defensive pressure, and punt rush, pretty much kicked our butt that entire game.

Special teams is truly a talent game. Linebackers that can run are a critical piece to that.......which we were depleted in for 2017. That is part of the reason kick coverage was pretty average. The other reason is our kicker was knicked up and he couldn't kick a touchback when he wanted nor get proper hang time. By all accounts kick return was decent as it's a main reason Santiago is an AA. (I guess other teams scoring so much on use helps in a weird way for return yards, too) Punt team is usually as good as the punter.......nothing Kostich can do besides get a better punter. Same with punt return, put someone back that's dangerous and when the opposing team has a bad punt, make them pay. And the big thing everyone is pissed about, is the roughing the punter call against Richmond. I guarantee you, know for a fact, "punt safe' was called. In a punt safe the only time we should go for a block is if the punter drops the snap. The player that committed the error is no longer on the team for being a habitual dumbass. You can't put that on Kostich. Kostich is a real positive for this program and I'll leave it at that.

For me it's the bad year on the field. It's hard to hype back up to previous levels after going from projected 1st to almost worst. Some feel regardless of the players we won't use their talent anyway. The staff has some proving to do, and credibility has to be earned back on the field of play.

Our Honorable Mention All American, Rastas, although he needs a huge off season if he's going to play with or ahead of some of these other guys. So Waters is signing??
-
Still computing my data. Then, have to stick data into my statistical hypothesis before reporting 3 scenarios of confirmatory data analysis. These things take time.
-
Minus the pot and challenging guys twice your size on the field.
-
Probably not athletic enough unless it's an outside backer that is considered "on" most of the time, meaning rushing the QB.
-
Are you talking about Soft Dakota State University (SDSU)?
-
Based off their last performance, yes.
-
SU tosses everything at you plus the kitchen sink, often multiple lineman pulling while we mostly straight ahead block on run plays. (in general) Sam H. was exposed in a lot of ways, SU had the horses to do it. I thought SU won the coaching battle, and that part wasn't even close.
-
SU was heavy underclassmen B. Jenson's sophomore year, then 2 years later as a Senior heavy team they beat a K State team that was wet behind the ears, 17 new starters. (going off memory)
-
Announcers said the Dukes had a lot of injuries, can't tell. So much for SU's wet dream of avenging their loss against the Jacks this year.
-
Makes me wonder how the sophomore heavy Bison team won the Natty a few years back, according to some only Jr. or Sr. can be productive.
-
Sam H. stomps us next year, no doubts about that.
-
You think our run scheme is close to SU? It isn't.
-
I agree. If the player makes us better, then grab him. But we have missed a lot on transfers.

The TE position is mismanaged related to production and team. We traveled five TEs last year for around 20 receptions and 250 yards. (Cloyd and Pinke combined for 11 receptions and 201 yards, Fielder didn't add much, just guessed because they never update the player profiles) I would think in 'our' style of offense the TE position would contribute at least 50 catches on the year. Going into 2018 we have 7 eligible TE's and are adding 1 or 2 more that will redshirt? So, we're deep at D Line and Tight End, that is abundantly clear. I expect a TE will move to FB or HB. I am tired of hearing that youth is a reason for low performance numbers. Cloyd has all the talent but hasn't produced because he's young and just getting his feet wet for 2 years.........got it. He's a Junior now this season, albeit a young Junior, so don't expect much....... If we feel our players are talented, I encourage the staff to put them in positions to be successful, free of 12 pre-snap checks and reads, anytime they touch the filed. (even as freshman) This whole complexity issue and stacked positions with relatively low production is striking a nerve with me. I think the D line has really good players, just going to be a limited return with a 3-man front. (UND, home of the freshest D-line in the nation, paper thin at LB) I like our TEs, but no real super stars as far as we use them, so low in receiving production that I will bet money other teams don't even prepare for them. You can only play 1 or 2 TEs at a time, glad we are stacked there. Let's try stacking the O-line and Linebackers with talent then we should be able to at least run the ball and stop the run. 5 o-lineman on the field at a time and even more in a heavy set (play one at TE) and 4 LBs on the field most times. Really basic math that 9-10 positions on the field is more critical than 4-5.
