Liabilites - 1.) D-line, missing what we all talked about since Tank/Greer at Nose and Ceilslak at DE graduated. Engwal didn't help with his early exist from college football, but honestly missing 2-3 guys here. 2.) O-Line, just don't see any push. A good team has that strong combo of 2 guys that can push for a 2-3 yard gain when needed. 3.) Safety - out of position, not very athletic 4.) 3-4 defense, it looks good a few games each year but it looks like complete trash quite a few times, too. The #1 pass defense to start the year was an aberration. We've been hanging the secondary out to dry since the GW Bush Administration. The game has evolved and I can't say the same for our pass defense. 5.) RB's - I would take any backfield since Shannon Burnell over this year. 6.) Strength and Conditioning/Win at all Cost........there is no prize for being too honest. It can't be that big of a secret how other schools get the same size kids into the program, but leaving is a often a different story say between us and Juice U. 7.) Roster Management - Honestly, how do we go from strongest backfield to weakest in a year, strong D-Line to weak D-Line the same time frame of 1 year, QB position has been JUCO U. Our biggest get on the O-line quit after a tribal sweat lodge meeting didn't go our way. 8.) Run game - for how all other aspects of the offense have evolved in the right direction, the run game looks like an afterthought. 9.) Kicker and punter just don't have the leg. If 1 and 2 were better, that would help across the board, that's why they are 1 & 2. Conclusion - Missing about 2-3 'Stud' players and 2-3 solid 'Role' players. And, some other items need to be looked at in Grand Forks. I would love to help but family and business dealings of my own have me tied up.

The game started 34-0 Davis. If we can't beat Cal Poly on the road, then we should drop to DII.

Not following my own advice, reading some posts, but in Duluth awaiting puck drop. I know a player/family from Lowell. Anyway, can you have an effective run game with 3 run plays in the playbook.....??
-
My advice. Don't read the thread, find something else enjoyable this fall. This season is done.
-
That would be huge, one of those WRs ate up NDSU.
-
Virginia Tech is #6, just behind the NDSU game day experience -

The measurement is fluid. 2-2 expectation was before Eastern W. got smoked by Idaho and had a lot of key injuries. Our last game was a gong show coming off a bye week.

Yes. Or, it's just something nice to say at that time. No sane person thinks that.

Must win for UND. Davis just went to SU, hosted the vaunted Griz, and now back to North Dakota. Hopefully we finish out and make it a touch schedule. If we have any pride this will be one of our best efforts of the season.

This RPO was no pressure. The photo shows the Easten defender picking the pass off. Not a guy within 10 yards of Maag up top. How do you miss this?
-
He looked legit to me on film. I think that was his Jr year in High School. Injured as a Sr, might not even be healthy enough to play. I don't know.

The 3-4 works with a few 300+ lbers in the middle and Dudes at both D ends. Also, we used to have size at outside backer. Currently, we have a small nose guard and the backup is even smaller, a 220 D End and Bennett with a few backups around 240 lbs. On top of that, 2 small outside backers. I don't see how we let things get to this........ Roster Management........needs work.

No one feels worse than Ketteringham after a game like this. Has anyone here played in a game with conditions like Saturday?(especially QB) It's pretty miserable. On top of a wet field and ball, 25 mph winds, we put our QB coming off a buckling/injured knee into action. I could tell Kett wasn't as mobile and was scared to move too much. A recipe for disaster. On top of that, Wanzak lost his confidence throughout the game with each accumulating drop, and Toivenen and Maag had drops, too. All that said, as I pointed out in the photo of Maag wide open on a Kett pick.....Kett played like crap. I would also try Schuster this week and if he plays well and we win, consider him the starter. If it doesn't go well.....kind of have to play it week to week based on Kett's health but could still keep Schuster's redshirt. Another option, give Kett a few series and if he comes out firing, let it ride. (kind of a one last chance) I hope his knee is good enough to not hinder his confidence and/or performance if Kett is the starter. Other main items not helping - D Line. Many have pointed out the obvious over and over again, but we are too small, got handled vrs Eastern and NDSU. I would have been OK with a Junk Yard JUCO that we could barely keep eligible. Also, could have moved an O-line over. But we did nothing. Running Backs - Probably the least amount of pure RB talent that I ever recall going back 25 years. I've never seen a softer 245 lbs in my life. Mckinney is not a true RB, and Gee isn't at a level for us to be a top 25 team to put it as nice as I can. I don't know if paper mache Gordon is ever going to play and where's Teddy. Teddy is probably the least talented but he puts his nose down and gets yards. No freshman sightings either. Pretty sad group.

K-Mo feeling good today......
-
I feel bad for myself next week watching Davis kick the crap out of us.
-
We are more of a 2nd down team.
-
Long season ahead, can't stop the run.
-
I remember a lot of concern here about the lack of size on D-Line.......but what the hell do we know??
-
When your d-line averages 240, teams are going to run on you.
-
We look like a community college.
-
We had 2 weeks to put this dogshit on the field??

I agree on Isaiah. I wasn't sure last year but I think he has gotten a step faster, and with another spring track season he could improve further with speed. As mentioned, he's a natural at RB, super strong, shifty, really hard to tackle. He could take college carrys right now at UND and you wouldn't notice a drop off. Part of that is our backfield has been disappointing, but it speaks to Isaiah being one of those college ready kids. UND should offer. Max would like a shot at QB in college, but he won't get to show much in High School.(DL too stubborn running the ball vrs. overmatched opponents) (will cost them in playoffs) So Max's recruiting will be tricky unless colleges can bring him in after season to throw the ball for more of a college QB look. (All the coaches know at UND, NDSU, SDSU and on down- Max broke his arm last spring in a hoops alley-opp gone wrong, so no summer camps, which was devastating) His dad not only played high level baseball, but as a pitcher throwing in the mid 90s MPH in the minors. I think, QB, TE, and OLB. I don't know about safety and part of that will be because he will likely be too big for safety. So Max's recruiting is tricky, but huge upside to a maturing kid, that IRA has a history of identifying.

I might tape Sam H. game next Saturday but done wasting my time on this.
