I think the big difference between Gronowski starting as a true freshman and Kaminski is there was nobody proven ahead of him. I haven't looked any of this up but I think SDSU graduates their stud QB.......and the next year Gronowski took over and beat out the other guy who they were not maybe even that high in, it's not like Gronowski came in and took the starting spot from a 3 year starter that was on the Walter Payton watch list. To your point though SDSU would have absolutely won that Championship game if he was healthy the whole game IMO. But I would also bet even Kaminski's dad is probably ok with Jerry red shirting this year. I am also with you though us struggling to move the ball with Tommy in against NDSU this week. We can't dink and dunk against good teams all day long and expect to win.

I liked seeing the Romfo package and plays, and they probably wanted to run a few of those plays in a real game instead of just in practice. However, seems like that could have maybe been a surprise wrinkle against NDSU and caught them off guard a bit. Running those plays against SU though is going to be met with much stiffer resistance I'm sure. Danny needs to have a masterful game plan called on Saturday.

I've seen that a few times but it has been a while, forgot both schools recruited him. Didn't Bo's dad go to NDSU or something and NDSU never offered him? Bo makes plays every game though, if we had 22 Bo's we'd be sitting pretty good. We need a big unexpected play to come out of nowhere.

I honestly might have to do this, to make up for my Boise and SDSU losses. Although if NDSU is favored by 5 and they won by 3 that would be a double whammy loss. I think it's going to be a tight game.....with the winner winning by 5 or less.

Probably the biggest blowout and one of the crappiest teams we've played in Homecoming too. There was never going to be a ton of excitement in that game IMO.... because we all felt we'd win by 3-4 scores. We scored on every possession and got a pick 6 on defense, so the team handled their end of things on the field. That long drive by then in 2nd quarter was an energy suck though for sure, but even then we still limited them to a FG and then had a quick drive for a TD before half. If we woulda been playing a team like SIU or something I think there would a been a lot more energy in the Alerus.

The upper classmen have lost to NDSU 3-4 straight years, getting butts kicked in most of those. If it's not personal for them.....they need to check their pulse. And I think Mooney was from MN not ND. But yes.....someone needs to make a Mooney type play next Saturday!

Yeah pretty sure there was at least one play that was supposed to be a pass and I think is why they kept him in instead of Feeney, so they could show a pass play with him so other teams have to think it is possible could pass. I wonder if they have a traditional option run out of that package.

After the SDSU game I was less confident about how we would do against NDSU, but I don't see them beating us by 21. I think it's a toss up game at this point. We are at home which is good, but we haven't won a big game in forever.

Yep. Wish we wouldn't have given up those two garbage TD's against them. We had a 27 point lead on them with 7 minutes left in the game. Either way still a good looking win for us and for the MVFC vs Big Sky.

YSU has an FBS loss and a close loss to UNI. They will probably lose to SDSU which would give them at least 3 losses. SIU had an FBS win and was 4-0. YSU could end up with only 3 losses also though, and we don't play them either...... we'll see how it shakes out.

SIU was undefeated and rated ahead of UND and we don't play them this year. We need them to have a few losses if we want to jump them in the polls and in the seedings/MVFC rankings.

NAU up 13-7 with 11 minutes left in 2nd quarter. Weber is definitely not as good as everyone thought going into the year. Hopefully NAU can win this one.

I like what we did there getting both Feeney and Romfo in and running some plays. Would have liked to have seen that one drive earlier.

I doubt the issue is that we are scared he will get a bunch of NIL offers lol. I think it's just a case of getting both of these guys some reps. Although I could see Romfo coming in regularly now and then for a few plays. I liked that they had him throw the ball, so that it's not completely 1 dimensional when he is in because if it is that will eventually get shut down. They may have wanted to get some passing on tape for him so other teams have to at least think about it when he comes in.

I was thinking Red went back in the game at least once after coming out of the locker room but I could be wrong.

Pretty sure that is just a package for him, Feeney is QB2. Sounds like they've practiced it during the week with all of the QBS though, but Romfo is easily the best runner.

I think it's because this is a game none of us are too worried about and feel like we should win by 3-4 scores. There were like 40 posts during the day this past Tuesday, so I don't think it's apathy.

I agree with this. MSU demolished Weber 40-0. I think when those two teams are on.....it is likely nobody will beat them. That said every team has some poor performances and SDSU may have some games where they beat average teams by only 10-15. SDSU was coming off a bye week and a ranked ND team coming in was a big game and they wanted to show us who is boss......and they absolutely did. We will see how the season plays out. Regardless if those two teams are head and shoulders better.....it was embarrassing getting pummeled like that. They also pummeled a pretty good NDSU team last year in the Championship game though too. I still think we can be a good team, but obviously we have quite a ways to go to get to the top.

It should and will be a blow out. But even if we win 45-0 it won't mean all that much as far as proving that we've really improved at anything when it really matters. However we do need to be in more of a positive mindset heading into NDSU. I'll be looking forward to watching UND football this weekend as we are only guaranteed to watch UND football 11 times a year.

I'm certainly not a Bubba hater, but he gives off the most least confident look/facial expression on the sidelines as a HC that I've probably ever seen.

I agree the podcast is high quality and we are fortunate to have it as I look for to it every week. I also agree they can't give their true feelings currently because of Shannon, but I think they all do a good job. But when Bubba retires I'd hope Shannon would stay on, he knows lots of history etc.. Although I get we don't want to totally live in the past either. I'm hoping Danny being named Associate HC....develops into him being HC this off season barring some miraculous turn around and is winning a bunch of big games. Even then I think it's time, but it just won't happen if that happens.
