I think all of the names coming back are legitimate impact players.

After a year in the system Buckner will probably have a bigger impact next year, and hopefully still this year.  Fort back and healthy next year, KK, Coley and Ball back at Safety, Siegal back and the other younger corners with another year of experience we should have depth and experience in the secondary next year to hopefully take a step forward on the defensive side of the ball.   Need some more dynamic play at OLB yet though.

Our online fan base was sick of hearing all the group-think, bloviating over the years about the MVFC and how great it was (Paul McCartney and Wings is accurate). So we started calling it out and now they don't like it.

Whatever.  We are in our third full season in the league and have already made the playoffs once and are on cusp of a second.

Remember when all the MVFC fans told us we would be the new WIU or ISU-B?  We were going to get run on for 250+ yards a game.

"This isn't the Big Fluffy"  :silly:

Exactly this!  I remember hearing about how there is no way we would be able to compete in the MVFC.

Would they be honored on Senior Day if they were transferring?

I may be wrong, but I'd be surprised they would have already told the coaching staff they plan on transferring after the season.

Is the USD game a case where our offense just has to outscore their offense?  I think it's pretty safe to say that UND can/will score at least 28.  Their offensive output is light by comparison, but may find success if our defense doesn't show up.  Even still, I think their point total would be somewhere in that 21-24 range.  A stolen possession in UND's favor will go a long ways in helping secure victory.  A lost possession would make the game noticeably tighter.

I would pretty much agree with that.  Their offense doesn't seem that great, but our defense has had their struggles at times so I would guess they will get in that 21-24 range like you said, and I think our offense can get around 30.   Unless we lose the turnover battle in a big way or they have huge special teams plays, I think we will find a way to win.....31-24 ish.

Digging into the safety position a bit. If you look overall, Kauppinen leads that group / the team in tackles (48). My question is, has anyone noticed them rotating more the last few weeks? Buckner appears to be playing more. Is Ball? The stats aren't as lopsided as they were through the SDSU game.

    ACU

    • Coley: 3 Tackles
    • Kauppinen: 3 Tackles / 1 INT
    • Ball: 3 Tackles
    • Buckner: 1 Tackle / 1 INT

    ISU

    • Ball: 3 Tackles
    • Coley: 2 Tackles
    • Kauppinen: 2 Tackles
    • Buckner: 1 Tackle / 1 Fumble Recovery

I think Ball has been getting quite a few reps going all the way back to the beginning of the season, think I have seem him out there quite a bit.  I remember somewhere towards the beginning of the season when I saw 35 out there, I had to check and see who that was.

I think 7-4 we are in either way.

Ya think so too, especially if it ends being we have the 2nd toughest SoS.

You can take me out of the crosshairs any second now and start talking about things people actually care about. Glad you take such detailed notes, though; that’s kind of flattering.

No need to take notes.....you beat the same dead horse weekly, we've all got it memorized.

Just thought of a scenario, if UNI wins and SIU wins out, and Youngstown state beats Missouri state (loses to SIU) Then UND, UNI, YSU, and SIU would all be 7-4.  Now THAT is a scenario I don't like.....because we lost to SIU.  I will probably be rooting for NDSU to beat SIU so they are for sure out of playoffs.  If we are tied at 7-4 with UNI and YSU, we beat both so auto tie breaker.  Another scenerio is if we win out we would be 8-3 and tied with NDSU but would have the win against them.  I like that scenario the best :)

To add on that, if we win out and YSU wins out, we are tied with YSU and NDSU at 8-3 with wins over both, we would likely be seeded as #2 out of the Valley.

  10. Eastern Washington getting destroyed 48-16 by Idaho.  Not only does EWU not have a defense, apparently they don't even have an offense this year either.  They are about to be 2-8.  They did have a tough schedule this year, but still.  Might be #2 behind Missouri State as biggest disappointment/surprise of the year.

    Halftime score

    NAU. 21

    MSU 17

NAU might turn out to be a very good win.

Would love to see NAU win this one.  For some reason everyone seems to think the Big Sky is the best this year and MVFC down.  Well it could be that the 3-7 MVFC teams are all pretty good, it's just that they have been beating each other.
