So by default, the top three QB's for UND (before Feeney left) are better than the Michigan State QB right....because everyone at UND thought the bench guys were better than Tommy, who is now better than Michigan State starter Ok so Im at the bar and just having fun here so cut me some slack for this post lol

So you are saying that Ummm was you then eh? When I first heard that....I too was a little like.....what....you are going off completion percentsge in practice. So if Romfo throws 10 screen passes in practice and jas 100 percent completions he is better...I too was like WTF. He did say something along the lines if I recall that Romfo had more explosive plays with less attempts or something like that. He also did say those were just one factor and other things are looked at. But ya when I first heard that it made me take notice too. We will find out tomorrow if the right choice was made for QB as there were big implications from it. Not gonna lie....in my head when I think of Romfo I think of.....much better runner than Tommy, same arm strength but not as good of accuracy.....and when I think of that I'm like.....ugh. But this is only in my head as I've never really seen Romfo throw, and is why I asked the question the other day asking how strong of an arm does he have.....but nobody replied. While Tommy didn't have a strong arm, he was very accurate on short to mid distance throws and generally made good decisions.

I remember Keaton being pretty fast, but overall not sure he was as good of a runner. Part of that might have been we didn't run him a lot because we didn't have a quality backup QB so never got to see it how good of a runner he was.
-
I was thinking that too....been a long time since we've had a true threat running the ball at QB. Keaton made some nice runs, but he was nothing like Cam Miller running the ball. So definitely curious to see how our offense is with a QB that can run. How well he can throw though, and make good decisions....that will be the key. He has only had to do it in practice, hoping it goes well during games.
-
I hope that is a real question being asked in 6-8 weeks. Cam is way better than some on this board suggest.
-
I just looked, was thinking on taking Iowa State. But at 28.5 not gonna do it. Hoping we cover that....
-
And now another one
-
CU penalty on 3rd down was huge
-
Looks like you lost in the first quarter already. We can only hope Romfo ends up being as good as Miller. Jerry was number 3 initially after depth chart released, but yet you said he should have started day 1 last year. Your QB analysis is extremely questionable.

So what are everyone's prediction for the Colorado - SU game tonight?
-
Agree, haven't listened to the podcast yet, I think we will find out a little about our team and our QB, but the jury will be out until the Montana game. If Schuster were still here he would not be leading this team to a victory on Saturday. At home against Montana I think he could. Very anxious for the game on Saturday, but I don't think we will likely even go toe to toe with them.

Makes it a touch call as to whether should pull the redshirt on him. One thought is he likely won't stay 4 years anyway so use him while you can. Another might be.... to limit him to 4 this year so he hasn't shown enough where he thinks he wants to jump ship or people or other coaches start chirping in his ear. I'm sure Bo will be a great influence on him though so hopefully he does what Bo did and sticks with UND.

And it seems like there is often one play that we lose a bunch of momentum. Utah State Otis ran into crossing reciever when there was a huge hole on 3rd and short. Nebraska Tommy misses a Wide open Belquist for what would have been a big play early, one that he normally completed 95 percent of time. Also the penalty late or was it that and then long completion when they were deep in their own end. We were in the game up to that point. Boise St. was the fumble right before half that ended up being a 10 point swing. Honestly we will need a few breaks in this game and be on the right side of the types of plays above in order to have a chance IMO.
-
4-8 is a complete toss up and with as few returning starters as we have, and then add losing a few coaches I'm surprised we are as high as we are in some polls.
-
How is Romfo's arm strength, is it similar to Tommy where we will likely see more shorter passes? Curious if he will be similar to Tommy but just more ability to run the ball. Hopefully he is just as good on not throwing picks.
-
Was it Wanzek who saved the day and made a great catch on that one?
-
With Q spending probably 90 percent of his time at TE and then just the short yardage stuff at QB, I probably don't want him there throwing passes. Unless he chucks it deep on a fly pattern or something like you were maybe getting at or something super basic. But wouldn't want him dropping back and throwing over the middle.
-
Agree. However unless as someone mentioned he could transfer somewhere before school starts and play this year, it's extremely puzzling why he would leave. Doing nothing and not practicing all fall won't improve him any. And as someone else said, I do think he would have played a little this year. Romfo may run more too, if he gets singed up Trey would have had his chance. I totally don't get him leaving now unless he has something in mind. We will find out soon enough I'm sure.
-
When Romfo was named starter, I got optimistically anxious to see what the underdog could do. But now I am more anxious/nervous, because if Romfo doesn't look good as the starter and the OC incorrectly chose Romfo over Feeney.....it's a pretty big mistake that cost us. Think it kind of amps up the pressure just a little for both Romfo and the OC.
-
They didn't want him out of HS...not sure they how much they'd be jumping for joy to take him after getting beat out by a PWO. Not that they wouldn't take him for depth purposes....but not sure they would do it thinking he is their next 'Dude' at QB. But hey they did want our OC so you never know
-
Maybe that is his plan then, go somewhere where he can still play this year. Otherwise seems like would have made sense to stay put, Romfo could struggle and Trey would have been next. While it does suck that he is transferring, he was going to transfer anyway...so might as well get Jerry more reps and get him in some games this year.
-
In reading the SIU write up....Nic Baker was 5'8.....so Romfo should be able to manage at 5'11. Hopefully it's a legit 5'11.
-
We might have caught a break Landry went to SU, time will tell. OC seems to be pretty genuine and tells it like it is. Also interesting on the 360 podcast was that the new OL coach was running some different run blocking schemes sometimes, if I caught that right. Definitely super excited, but also nervous as hell to see how the new offense will look.
-
We never really saw Feeney at all last year, unfortunately. He only got in when it was well past garbage time. When that Northern Iowa game was going the way it was, it seems like someone should have come in earlier than the 4th quarter to see if could create a spark.
-
I'm not saying it is a bad thing, but back in January who would have guessed.....everyone was wondering.....will it be Jerry or Trey. New OC didn't recruit any of them so his mind was as wide open as it could be. Romfo has been nothing but a winner, actually kind of excited about the underdog. If he has a strong enough arm and is accurate enough.....and with his running capability.....could be fun to watch. Hopefully it's not a sign of the OC thinking our OL is too young and inexperienced that the QB will be running for his life so he thinks Romfo is the better option.
