Will Tai have a breakout year??
-
Thank God....we can retire the old green tops with white sleeves and actually be proud to wear green jerseys again.....and can actually ready the numbers! Although will want to wait and see how 6,8 and 0 looks before we know for sure, and maybe 5 and 2. 7 was never the issue

I've got 5 more days left of my 3 week stint back up in ND. Once I get back home and in my regular routine I'll definitely be anxious for the football talk to ramp up! Saw Deng (sp?) on the local news last night throwing down an alley oop dunk in the Lions all star game. Only saw for a brief second, but looked thicker than I was maybe thinking. Will have to look for him on highlights tonight.

The Montana game is one we need to pull an upset and I think we can do it at home. It would set the ton for the season, but we set the tone for the 2nd half of last season against NDSU and then crapped the bed. We don't do consistency very well. We may lose some other game we shouldn't, but I think the Montana game is a game we need.....for the season....and just overall morale of everything UND football related. After this past off season, we need a boost and the Montana game could do it!

I think they are a little over hyped and don't expect them to end up in the top 6 coming rankings after the final regular season game. Could be wrong though, we'll see. As the the other poster mentioned, they seem to be like us and not be very consistent. I'll be kinda pissed if they actually follow through and back up the hype..... because we have never been able to do that.
-
Thanks, definitely looks like a great get!! Keep it rolling!
-
Was he one of our highly coveted guys, had lots of offers, or you just really liked his film....or all of the above? Took quick look at his hudl.....looks tall and athletic and can move.
-
Well the new OC should be pretty unbiased in his evaluation since he didn't recruit either of them. Trusting he will start the best option for the team and not play favorites. If Jerry is the starter and Trey doesn't really play this year, he'll surely be in the portal and wouldn't blame him.
-
Is it just on my feed..... it's not showing who it is.
-
I'm sure there are opposites of this, but seems like many of the more highly thought of recruits we've gotten.....never turned into true stars. Molberg, Cloud, Sammy Fort, Q....and many others that had an FBS walk on offers or were highly thought of. Not to diminish them as they did contribute but were never all conference type of players. Santiago, Oliveira, Wanzek, Belquist and a whole host of others that were not as highly thought of became big names for UND. Was Turner a big time recruit? Man we could use a guy like him at OLB again! That said, winning recruiting battles for guys with other quality FCS offers is a good thing!
-
Looks like he likes to finish his blocks! Hopefully he can be both a blocking and receiving threat. Will the new OC involve the TE more....guess we'll see. Offense continues to add good guys, need some studs on defense now too! Great to see some positive news to end the week!

The mental drain on coaches now days has to be exhausting. They now pretty much have to worry about making every single player happy 365 days a year. If I was a young college coach a couple years out of college, and planned on coaching as my life long profession, I'd probably honestly start thinking twice. I suppose at some point they kind of get used to it and just don't take kids decommitting or hitting the portal as personal anymore, they are probably getting numb to it.
-
It's not, but it won't matter one bit to another school that wants him. Another school won't pass him up just because he decommitted from UND for no apparent reason. This is just SOP now days.
-
Yep had seen those on his Twitter and is kinda what prompted my post. Looks like we were showing him a lot of love....but I guess it just wasn't enough.
-
Seems like in today's day and age, even after they verbally commit, coaches need to continue to coddle them them on a daily basis so they don't start looking around.
-
What position was he?
-
Yeah top 7 definitely is surprising. However it's always easier to be harder on your own team at times. I mean I swear we allow 75 percent conversion percentage on defense on 3rd and 15 or more....but it's probably more like 40 percent

I haven't looked as who we have all back and transferred in and I could be wrong but I don't think our OL will suck. Hoping some of the younger guys are good, just a little inexperienced and some of the transfers are decent. That said, there is no way we will be as good as we would have been if they stayed. If they had all stayed....I think we might have had the best offense we've had at the FCS level, assuming the OC and Trey/Jerry are the real deal. Hoping for more big plays down field this year.
-
Think s lot of us have felt this way ever since the announcement Danny was going to SDSu. Landry doing what he did, Bubba getting an extension, losing 3 starting OL......just lots of turmoil in general makes it hard. The transfers on on both OL and DL provide some hope....but just don't know how they will pan out. OC may very well likely be a wash or who knows....could be a step forward.... especially if Trey or Jerry are the real deal. I think until we see what happens on August 31st.....many are trying to mentally prepare for the worst, but I think there is a chance we could still be pretty decent. Hard to get too excited right now, but I'm sure I will be come August 31st.

We needed that!!

Or at this point....if you are any FCS school other than NDSU or SDSU. Haven't double checked but I think those are the only other two current FCS schools who have won a championship since 2010. 95% chance it is one of those two winning it again.
-
Looks like he got an offer from Wyoming January 2023 and we offered him after that. 4 years of eligibility left which is nice. Didn't watch his entire hudl but he played both OL and DL is high school and looks like he can move pretty well for a big guy
-
Sadly, I'm kinda thinking 50/50 would be an improvement!

According to at least one....Jerry was ready to take over the team last year. Can you imagine what he'll do with a whole year under his belt. Whether it's Trey or Jerry, there will be some growing pains with a new starter and I'd expect more interceptions than Tommy had. However stronger arm and hopefully some more deep balls along with a QB that can potentially scramble for positive yards more often Im hoping more than offsets those initial growing pains. It will certainly be interesting to watch though how it all plays out after having the same starter for four years. Will we be missing Tommy.....or feel like Yes....now we are more explosive.
