I was pretty much thinking this same thing.....it wouldn't have taken all that much to get a first round win in the playoffs this year since the field seems weaker than normal. However I'm not really that upset about it because it forced a changed that needed to happen.

He'd likely get yelled at, you know like Zimm did. Zimm getting yelled at....to me was actually a good thing, because you should be able to do the opposite of what Rudy wants you to do if you see something better. Or even if you don't....maybe just do the opposite of what Rudy wants you to do

Can you find the posts where people were thinking he would be an all conference player? Not sure anybody ever said that. We did think he'd bring the ability to throw a better deep ball, which he did. We did probably think he'd be better than he turned out to be, particularly the second half of the season. Part of that of course is normal wishful thinking. Surprised you are able to type today, you know....figured you be so red faced and teary eyed from how you guys got "screwed over" in the bracket because you have to play the MVFC teams. No need to worry about SDSU, they've never won a big game in their program history. I'd rather have seen EWU or Weber State on your side of the bracket, likely a much tougher test for you.

When we got the ball with less than a minute before the half, back around our own 15.......Maag was lined up wide right......short corner right up on him....looked like no help over the top with the safety more towards the other side Wanzek was on. I was like......man.....just chuck it up to Maag.....Maag had probably 6 inches on that corner....and Maag is a stud. Maag was lined up on our side so he was almost right in front of me....could easily see the height difference between him and the corner. I mean I know Wanzek makes crazy catches and stuff.....but I really thought should have ran a go route down the sideline and thrown it up for Maag to make a play. He did run that route but of course Kett threw the go route to Wanzek over on the left side and it was incomplete, think probably out of bounds.

Thank you seniors for all of your hard work and dedication to UND Football!

Boltman absolutely needs to be given a legitimate shot at a starter next year, or Zimm. Maybe if we get a real OC something will change and one of the other guys will get a shot, or Kett will actually be coached up instead of getting worse as the year goes on.

I may write an email tomorrow. I've never been the type to email an AD or anything like that before, but these past 4 weeks have really been so hard to watch. We've looked like the Bad News Bears at times. Every time we took the field on offense, I have no confidence they will do anything...….and I don't think they did either. Remember when our DII players scored 40 against UNI, and that's not revisionist history....it happened (or maybe we only scored 38 or something....can't remember....but we won) Now today in a must win game against a team not sniffing the playoffs, our offense nets 9 points (if you subtract pick 6 + 1).

I was honestly over it by the time I walked to my car. After that PSU game last week....and almost midway through the 2nd quarter when we had 30 yards of offense on 5 possessions, part of me wanted us to lose because this has been so pathetic the last few weeks I think we need a change and it would only happen if we lost. Granted, a big part of me still wanted to win and I was hoping we would pull it out. But by the end of the game.....and walking to my car I was over it, and then had a 3 hour ride home.....and I actually kind of feel content. Because if some type of change doesnt' happen, I'm not going to spend the whole off season looking forward to next year like I have been the past couple of years. If Rudy and Bubba are both here next fall, I will root like heck for us to win, but in my heart I know we will never really amount to anything. 2015 - Snubbed from playoffs, so frustrating made such a long off season....I was pissed 2016 - Richmond meltdown, horrible way to end season....I was pissed all off season 2017 - Crazy injuries, season over by end of September. I realized there was coaching issues, but gave benefit of doubt with all the injuries. Was a hard off season and I was pissed and frustrated all off season how crappy that year was. 2018 - Like I said, I almost have a calm feeling of contentment right now, because if Rudy and Bubba are still here I'm just not going to care as much and therefore won't be disappointed. But I'm hoping this horrible performance the past 4 weeks brings changes that are needed. Bubba turned out to be a mistake. Doubt we let him go, but hopefully at least OC and ST coaches. But even then, will be hard to fully get behind Bubba until he has a team that proves something and doesn't actually get worse as the season goes on like this year. This year, right at this moment....I am not pissed.....I'm becoming apathetic and it's almost like I don't care, even though I really do. I would not have wanted to watch another game to watch this pathetic offense. Sucks that Brady and John had to go out this way, and the other Seniors.

I'm glad my beer was cold. So far that has been way better than the game. Pretty pathetic on offense....ugh.
-
Pathetic. One team looks like a playoff team and it's not UND. We are complete garbage on offense when the other team can stop the run. I could be a millionaire being as defensive coordinator against this offense.

I will post some when I get there. Am running a little behind and now stuck in log jam not far out of Flagstaff due to accident. Should still have time for a couple beers when get there.

No doubt. After so many games went our way last weekend, I really hope Weber doesn't lay an egg today and let Idaho State beat them. It's a rare occurrence that I root for Montana but today is one of those days!
-
And actually our offense only scored 10 points against PSU.
-
I hope our offense actually acts like it belongs in the playoffs tomorrow.

Thanks for the info. What's the tailgating scene up there and where should we go? I will be driving up from PHX area and plan on getting there a couple hours before the game, will bring a small cooler and look for some other folks in green to try and have some beers with before the game. Feel bad for Cookus he sure has had bad luck with injuries.

Awesome...thanks for posting, found it!

That's awesome you took the time out of your day to compile that. Perhaps you wanted to put it together to send to the selection committee. Have you checked the win/loss totals of SDSU's opponents yet.....you know....since they are your real rivals.
-
I was wondering that too. I will likely just buy mine on Saturday. Will definitely want to sit with other UND people.

I agree that there is a lot of revisionist history as to how good we were on offense back in the day. Case in point when I watched the UC Davis Semi Final game two years ago, think I watched it either right before or after our Richmond game. I remember posting about it....that something like the first 5 plays were runs, 7 of first 8 were runs, and like 9 of 11 on that first drive were runs. Most of those were runs up the middle. Sure we did have the famous bubble WR screen that people are calling for, but the offensive play calling wasn't really anymore aggressive than it is now. Watching that game made me give Rudy the benefit of the doubt back then even though at times I was frustrated with him. That said, the NCC was probably more like the MVFC where as the Big Sky is wide open and not known for defense. I think to really compare you'd have to look at overall for the regular season games, did we on average score more or less points than the opponent was on average giving up? That would be a stat I'd like to see. I'd bet that in 2001 we probably score at, or more than what our opponents defenses were giving up. This year we scored 10 points on offense against Portland State, in a must win game at home and it seems like we are not scoring on average what our opponents are giving up, but I could be wrong. I think it is good to remind people though that some of those offenses in the good old days, were maybe not quite as explosive as we remember them being. I also agree that if not for that fumble in against Idaho State and/or punt block against Idaho, we win those games and while we are frustrated with the offense at times we aren't calling for Rudy's head because we are possibly a top 8 seed if we ended up 9-2. I think I've seen enough now though to believe that we won't be a deep playoff team with Rudy as the coordinator. I'd be on board with keeping Bubba but replacing Kostich and Rudy.

At least 5 of these came in the first game and 4 in the first half of that game. So roughly 1/3rd of those came in a game we should win easily and not struggle to move the ball. When we are struggling to move the ball against good teams, WR's are injured, seems like trying to hit a TE would be a good thing.

Cool sounds like a few of you will be going. I'm planning on getting up there around 12:30 to have a few beers in the tailgating area before the game. Not sure what the tailgating situation is up there.
