I agree, the sloppiness this year has been horrible and ever since the 2nd quarter of Utah State game, this has been an extremely frustrating year. However last year they were extremely sharp with very few penalties, so hard for me to say that this will be the norm going forward with Bubba's teams. Guess we'll see if this trend continues the next game or two and rest of the year. For some context on Stig, from what I see on Wikepedia he finally made the playoffs in his 13th season and lost, and the next two seasons he went 5-6. So his 14th and 15th years into his tenure he went 5-6 and had 0 playoff wins in those 15 years. SDSU must have also been very tolerant with mediocrity too. It took Stiegelmeier 20 year to make the Quarter Finals, and really for his first 20 years they could never win the big one or even semi-big one. That said, this fall has been frustrating as hell!!

This is my thought, we had very few penalties this spring. I can't imagine all of the sudden this fall the coaches just stopped talking about penalties etc. etc.. I'm sure they have been hammering all of this even harder than ever the past couple of weeks given what's been happening, I mean our coaches are not dumb. Somebody made a point about pre-snap motion, I can't remember if we did as much pre-snap motion in the spring or not. That could play a factor if they are doing more of that. I also think the crux of the issue is our interior OL took a drastic drop off though and everything has snowballed from that. In the end though the coaches get the blame though, that is normal. Outside of dumb penalties, there have been enough issues directly relating to coaching/play call to deserve criticism though. I'm not sure what the solution on offense is, but I'm hoping Danny figures something out this week.

Was only able to watch the first quarter of the game from the Nashville airport. Wasn't surprised to see we ended up losing when I got back online. Haven't had time to go back and watch the rest of the game yet. Sure seems like our weak OL, some limitations at QB, and no true deep threat at QB have just made it too easy for teams to figure us out. Danny doesn't need to scrap the play book, but he needs to figure something out quick if we want a shot at salvaging the season. But with all of the penalties and everything, it just feels like there is something off....like the 360 guys eluded to. I wouldn't put Feeney in there, he is not our answer this year in my opinion, and I'd rather not waste a year of eligibility. If we lose next week and our offense is pathetic once again, you've got nothing to lose to put Q in on some series to shake things up and see in game action if he is more or less productive than Tommy. It's so perplexing how we scored almost as many points on the first three drives against an FBS team as we have in the last two games. I had a bad feeling going into this USD game. I'm glad SIU beat SDSU last week, they will come in riding high and confident and will be expecting to roll us as payback for last year. I think our team will play better next weekend, but not sure if it will be enough to get the win.

We can blame the coaching to a degree in the false starts, but at some point the players have to accept some responsibility for this BS.

Why did the NDSU commentators get to do the 30 minute pregame show before the game on Midco? It wasn't aired on ESPN+ as the coverage didn't start on ESPN until right before the game, but Midco had a 30 minute pregame show with Brian Shawn and another NDSU guy. And why did they get to do a halftime bit? Did we get to do the pregame before the game in Fargo this spring, and did UND commentators get to do a halftime discussion? Maybe they did, I can't remember.

THIS. Or remember at the end of the Idaho State game when we went for two when we were already up big. That was a totally unique play and the guy was wide open. Not 100% sure that one works in middle of the field, but the yardage needed was the same. Still think we should have saved that two point conversion play for when we really really needed a 2 point conversion, not to put us up 21 instead of 20.

You flat out said Bubba is stupid. There is a difference between someone being stupid, and someone making a stupid decision. You flat out calling Bubba stupid....was stupid, but you yourself are probably not stupid. I do think the decision to go for it on 4th down on our 20 was stupid. There, I've now used up my quota for using the word stupid for the rest of the year.

Here is my armchair Quarterback take on the lack of a successful deep passing attack. 25% - Due to Tommy's arm. He doesn't have a cannon but we saw him hit a guy in stride last year with the ball traveling 46-47 yards in the air. In the EWU game the other night their QB hit on a deep ball....I went back and watched it again and it traveled exactly 45 yards in the air. I'm really not sure how often college completions actually travel more than 45-50 yards in the air? I've been trying to pay more attention to when I see deep pass plays....how far in the air they actually travel. I did see Tommy rifle a 10 yard pass in a super tight window on Saturday, it was a nice catch by Belquist I believe because it had some mustard on it. 50% - We don't have a burner who can get behind people 15% - I think Tommy doesn't want to throw a pick so if a guy only has 1-2 yards of separation he plays it safe and either throws it long or it's on the money, doesn't want to leave it short. In the SU game on the one long pass the WR was open but two guys were converging and Tommy over threw it about 2 yards or so. I think Tommy may lack the confidence that our WR's will go up and get the 50/50 deep ball so if coverage is tight he throws it long. 10% - Danny doesn't call the deep go route often.

Montana dropped 2 and they had a quality loss on the road. I'm glad SIU didn't lose this last week, if we beat USD and then beat SIU that SIU will be a good win. If we run the table and then lose to SDSU I think we will be in top 8 unless we get completely destroyed by SDSU, which could happen if we are off that day......they will want payback from last year. It wasn't long ago we started seasons not ranked or ranked in the 20's and had to work our way up. Take care of business the next two weeks.
