Me either, one big play and we are down
-
I’d feel a lot more comfortable if we were up 14-3, still pretty nervous. Hopefully we replicate our previous 3rd quarters
-
This is going to be a 4 quarter game
-
I’ve been waiting for Danny to have him throw it over the top on one of those plays where he is in there and it looks like a run
-
Nice decision to run there, finally!

Canady is right, they have won big games before...along with some of the other upper class. But I think they all remember what happened afterwards. Plus we have a young QB, who seems to be so laid back and still focusing on just trying to get better. Hope this is the perfect mix of being confident, but not too full of themselves all year.

You may be right on this as to why they start Gee. However I think SKokna can do everything Gee can, not sure on blocking. Gee does need to get some reps to save wear on the other two. I would just like more production early in the game and/or on the first drive. Hopefully the defense breaks the streak of giving up an easy TD on first drive this week. I wouldn't be giving Mitchell Gee's carries though like the one poster mentioned. Gee knows the offense, can block, hasn't made any mistakes. I'm sure the coaches feel much more comfortable with him in there instead of a true freshman. Hopefully Mitchell can get some more carries later in the season.

I agree with Hardcore Hawk, their QB looks pretty good.....quick and elusive, likes to buy time and throw down field. And yeah USD got burned deep a few times. Maybe this is the week we finally connect on a deep TD.
-
It's a good week to have a short week, not much time for it to go to their heads.....gotta get focused for the next game already.

In watching the replays, he hit Maag in stride 20 yards down the field on the one pass. On Maag's TD Tommy looked left first, then came back to Maag on the right and threw it on the money. He had a couple other nice throws too. It's only his 3rd game....he will only get better. In watching the crazy Weah 40 yard TD run.....look at Ventrelli hustling down the field....he was only a few yards behind Weah. The fumble popped right up to Weah, but great hustle by Ventrelli to be that far down the field and be in position to scrum for the ball if it bounced sideways instead.

No doubt. And how many years has it been since UND was rated higher than NDSU? Given what has happened so far, there is no way they should be higher than us in the polls. That said, I'm totally ok if we don't jump up too high. Although I think it's already too late to be 'under the radar' for the rest of this season for us. Now the question is, can we handle it. Schuster is so even keel, never seems to get excited. Hopefully that continues to rub off on the rest of the team and we don't get full of ourselves, but at the same time are confident. The way we have gotten down early in both games and overcome that has been impressive.

I agree, this does feel different. The USD games always seem to be a battle though. Need to get that win because we have a lot of road games the second half of the season. It feels different because we not only beat a top team, but still feel like we have things we can get better at...like the deep ball etc.. But knowing we have an OL that can get some things done, good corners and deep at corner, and younger O lineman that look the part. It just feels like we are ready to stay in the upper part of the league, not be a one hit wonder and then disappear again. Can you imagine this team with a guy somewhere close to Trey Lance running the offense?

I would bet literally say everyone would say 1. Weah 2. Skokna 3. Gee Yet we have Gee in their the bulk of the time. I don’t get coaches sometimes
-
If Skokna was running that third down he may have gotten it. Gee gets three yards
-
I sure hope so. Been let down so many times in the past several years, so I'm gaurdedly optimistic. Hope this year is truly a new beginning and we are taking the next step! Time to get it done!

I was thinking the same thing....was thinking he should predict us to lose by that same score every week this season Well...at least until we lose
-
If they needed some kind of markers, that could have easily made them a different color. However i'm guessing they never thought about how that is going to look on tv....us being confused 25 times a game thinking there may have been a flag thrown. As for the uniforms, the numbering sucks.....very hard to read the numbers on tv. They overlooked that one too. Should have just went with standard block numbers. Not sure if the numbers can be changed out at some point or not. If not we are stuck for 5-6 years squinting our eyes trying to see who it was that made the play. The announcers had a tough time with it too.
-
I didn't think I'd every say it, but I think I might want us to hand off to Weah on the first play of the game next week....right up the gut for 4-5 yards
-
Hopefully Weah gets the start against SDSU, hopefully we can have a better start next week. Skokna looked really good too, and actually ended up with a better average than Weah. I loved seeing in the 4th quarter when we got down to the 1 yard line and everybody knew we were going to run, we gave it to Skokna and he went in almost untouched. In the past we had to fight for every inch in short yardage situations. I remember one play Fort coming up and making a nice tackle, he looks like he is a corner who actually likes to tackle. We did have a few blown coverages early yesterday, will need to get that cleaned up as the task will be more difficult next week against SDSU. Hopefully Brock isn't out too long, will be nice to get him back in the mix. As everyone else has stated we need to get better at the deep ball. Although on the 3 TD passes, those balls were placed perfectly, especially that pass to Belquist....that was a heck of a throw as it was placed perfectly. Love finally having an Offensive Coordinator who takes advantage of his players, and what is working and calls the game accordingly. MVP's are the OL and DL.

Good start to first half! NDSU up big 46-31 against SDSU right now. -
Not sure if SIU had their starting DL in on that last drive, but pretty sure we had 4 freshman OL in on that drive and we were still able to run the ball.
-
Said that one in the heat of the moment and was saying it in jest. After that first drive, the Defense looked great....I think we will be sitting in good hands with Holinka.
-
THIS. IS. AWESOME!
-
With the OL finally looking really good, and if Brock completes a few passes, the Brockstar could be deadly. Hopefully he gets healthy soon, even if he just plays WR.....he is a playmaker.
-
I agree, get second string in on offense. Particularly if SIU doesn't score this drive.
