  1. So glad Brady was able to bounce back from his injury and got a chance to start. Not surprised he had a great game when he was given a full work load. Good luck the rest of the season Brady!
  2. It could be that they may on only playing Orlando 4 games, as then he would technically be able to redshirt right? If Orlando isn't fully healthy and significantly better then I'd probably be ok with that. However I get what you are saying though, I think we all want to see what Orlando will do in there. If he does end up redshirting, I would think he would be an anchor and a monster in there the next four years.
  3. It's the time of year where we can be optimistic and drink the green Koolaid, and I will take a drink of that! With pretty much everyone back on D, and guys like Fort and Navratil etc. getting experience last year our two deep should be even better, combined with the increased size and depth on DL. Our defense should be a strength. And good news, Rudy hasn't shown back up.....so the offense should still be able to put some points up if the OL plays decent.
  4. Lennon has really put on some weight. He came in as a freshman around 215.
  5. I'd agree with you on this, each of these games will be tough and they will all want some revenge from last year. Would be nice if we could beat NDSU at home and go 5-0 at home, then if we drop one of these three we are still sitting in a pretty good spot.
  6. 8-3 is definitely playoff spot, with possible seeding in top 8 depending on a few thing, that would be great. 7-4 Likely playoffs but possibly on the road. 6-5 is our worse case scenario......I hope. Need that OL to figure things out after just a few games.
  7. I'd say that sounds about right.
  8. That was my thought, on paper it looks like we'd be taking a step back. I had forgotten about the PSU transfer though.....that is huge if he pans out. I agree with other Jdub that may be a few bumps early but hopefully by the second half of the season they are fairly solid. The last few years the OL recruits have been pretty good, so we may be young but hopefully these guys are good. Another nice OL commitment today. I'm hoping with all of these solid young guys and continued better recruiting at that position we can be a bit more like NDSU has been at that position and just reload each year when Seniors move on.
  9. So how is the OL going to be this year, better, the same, not quite as good? Losing 3 starters from regular season....seems like every season it goes back to how the OL does. Seems like we've got some decent younger guys, hopefully they are ready to step up! Is it August yet??
  10. Watched the first 4 1/2 minutes, yeah pretty boring as he is mostly blocking. He does seem to stay with his blocks though. He did though as a Junior in HS have as many receptions as our leading TE last year though (7), so there is that. He probably didn't get a lot of opportunities, but since coaches saw him in person...I'll give them benefit if the doubt in that they saw something. We keep waiting to have a breakout at TE with a huge year and seem to have had a few somewhat highly touted TE's in the past few years. However when I look back we haven't had a TE with more than 10 receptions in a season since 2017 (unless I missed something), I only looked back that far. As much as we all want more production out of the TE, just doesn't seem like it's ever going to happen in our current offense, even with Danny as OC. Cloyd had 147 yards for the 2017 season, and since then we haven't had a TE with over 100 yards in a season. 15 receptions by a single TE in a season would be a monster year given UND's track record with that position, unfortunately.
  11. It sure would be nice to have him at 100% this season to have another arrow in the quiver on offense. If he is not able to go this fall, hopefully Vaughn has improved where they can put him in the Wildcat and make a few throws to keep the defense somewhat honest when he goes in.
  12. I was surprised how many reps he got starting with the very first game given Haas was ahead of him. Pretty sure he was in the second defensive series of the season and seemed to be almost alternating series with Haas from the very first game, which says a lot since Haas is a senior. Great 2 deep out OLB this year that is for sure!
  13. So last year Weah burst onto the National FCS scene, and Schuster in a sense did as well as a freshman QB. Both had as good of or better years that we expected, even though we expected a lot of them going into the year. Belquist was probably the biggest surprise of last year, I don't think anybody thought he would have the production he had. So my question is, who or whom will be the player(s) that will take that leap this fall and become a much bigger contributor than they had in the past?
  14. Win or lose, you have to respect and appreciate the hard work and commitment these young men put in to be in top physical shape to get out on the field and compete. Good luck Jordan, hopefully you complete the comeback and have great year and stay injury free the rest of the way!
  15. Given his dad played for SU and his mom went to SU also, I would be a little surprised if we got him.....but would love it if we did!
  16. Does Hegerle have an offer from NDSU?
  17. Unfortunately we won't be able to give UNI another quality loss this year since they aren't on our schedule. Will be another tough task this year to gain credibility without being able to play Montana or UNI
  18. Herder has them at #6. Beating Weber and then coming very close to beating SDSU at home, they were on a roll at the end of the year so I can't complain too much about it. It will all play out on the field. Big 1st half of the season for us this year with the FBS game, then NDSU home early, USD on road, then SIU on the road. We'll have a pretty good idea by October 16th where we stand. Playing SDSU the last game of the year reminds me a little of when we always played NDSU the last game of the year, will be a big game. https://herosports.com/fcs-football-top-25-herder-preseason-bzbz/
  19. I hope him and Tommy work on the deep ball in the off season too. Seems like a couple of times they weren't quite on the same page....Maag was running a deep route but ran kind of across the field...and Tommy threw it more down field. The deep ball in general needs some work as we all know.
  20. Would be interesting if we got Hegerle since his dad played for NDSU. Unfortunately his dad tracked down and prevented a game winning/tieing TD in the '91 game in Fargo on a 4th down with less than a minute to play, he had some speed. Graduated HS with his mom, she was a track star in HS and great gymnast. Hegerly play in '91:
  21. I would think Orlando would get some reps next year given his size and his presumed athleticism being a state champion wrestler. Hopefully all of the NG's will be healthy at the end of fall camp so they can rotate and totally get after it when they are in there.
  22. Yes I'm sure there are. I know I followed as a guest for a while before creating an account and actually started posting. The more comments the better!
  23. Doesn't that seem kinda small/light for a safety?
  24. I really don't understand how Delaware comes in at #4. SDSU demolished them. We ended the year #6, huge step in the right direction. We should start out in the Top 10 this fall, and as we know it actually is important where you start out. A lot easier to get a seed if you start out in the top 10. https://theanalyst.com/na/2021/05/sam-houston-unanimous-no-1-in-final-stats-perform-fcs-top-25/?fbclid=IwAR0CRvr65t8XvoBdj9sHmS-cDFH23WAtGN85Bp3hGWa4d6hlZGPNocq78YY
  25. I agree. However if you are on statewide tv every week, the casual ND person would get exposed to it without having to go search it out. That is part of the reason the whole state of ND supports NDSU football so much. Obviously winning is a big part of that, but easy access for games helps and just flipping on tv and it's on. Not saying I want that though, because Midco broadcast is so much better.
