congratulations on your 2000th post. exactly, they are two different names! I swear, if a nodaks supporter stated the sky was blue, there would be roughrider supporters posting on here within five minutes to argue that point.

so, remind me again why you originally, and continue to, quote my posts and view my facts and opinions as wrong? i'm tired of the roughrider crowd wearing blinders and tearing to shreds every other name, and yet feel offended by those that disagree with them. And btw, my facts, as stated, are uncontested. Your thoughts on roughriders being people who break horses is valid as well. that wasn't my point, so I didn't address it in my original post before you even started talking to me. I feel (again, a differing opinion) <gasp> the act of breaking horses is nothing original or unique to north Dakota. Every location on earth that has utilized horses, broke them. At the risk of repeating myself again and again, I also feel the choice roughriders has moved forward solely because of the Teddy Roosevelt connection. Again, as I stated originally, if roughriders is chosen I expect full on teddy usage to make this unique, or I will be disappointed. Two big R's ,or a generic cowboy on a horse, is about as stale and unoriginal of a logo as we could end up with. -
this pretty much debunks the theory I've seen on here several times that Nodaks voters are Sioux forever people. thanks for posting.

I hope we've got a better plan to deal with the noise than we did in the fargodome.....getting up to the line and then standing there for 15 seconds while the crowd noise gets up to 200 decibels didn't work too well. I've been wrong two weeks in a row.. hoping i'm wrong again. Montana 34 UND 24

Lol this almost makes sense. No, wait a minute... it doesn't make any sense at all! I encourage you to try harder next time. This could be fun! -

You should consider going back and reading the post of mine you originally quoted and responded to. I stated a fact regarding why the name roughriders is even under consideration, and how it has been pumped up on this site (teddy, teddy, teddy!) I pointed out that in posts made just before mine, people were seeking to distance the connection to teddy Roosevelt. As you've just explained, the only connection to north Dakota is via teddy Roosevelt. thanks for enforcing my point regarding the irony of roughrider supporters now wanting to abandon the teddy Roosevelt connection. -

you're evidently new to the nickname threads and the roughrider nickname support originating from Teddy Roosevelt. Point is, people are now hinting at shying away from teddy as part of the logo and promotion, which is comical since he is the entire reason that name gained any steam. He is the reason ruff riders made it this far. Own it. We get it, you like the name and will draw any far fetched connection in an attempt to have it loosely make sense for UND. -

you must be new here. I've seen thousands of posts as to why Roughriders is a "good" choice. 99% of them refer to teddy Roosevelt's Roughriders. without the teddy connection, the name Roughriders is a horrible mouthful of a name. It would have never made the list of finalists were it not for the imaginary North Dakota roughrider history. so, if it is chosen, I will be disappointed if we don't play up the Teddy Roosevelt connection as much as we can. On the logo, on banners, and mascots. I want to see every sports venue filled with big ol' teddies. Bully! -

So the idea here is to distance ourselves from Teddy Roosevelt, yet, he is the one and only thing linking North Dakota to the Roughriders. Hmmm....remind me again why this was even a nickname choice? #mindboggling -
University of north dakota fighting nodaks
Siouxphan27 replied to fightingsioux08's topic in UND Nickname
when the names of the finalists became known, there was a statement released that said tweaking the names a little bit would be possible. My guess is fighting could be added quite easily to any of the names. Fighting Nodak sounds the best! -
I guess I don't recognize those two guys. Are they your roommates?
