Great comments…. You do not know how lucky you are to haveThe Forum….I read many on-line newspapers and IMHO The Forum has the most accurate and non-partisan. I also read several other Forum newspapers….all equally well done at their local levels. Trust me, you would NEVER see a MPR article in the Mpls paper. Walter Cronkite is gone and has not been replaced.

Well true but the AD should have handled this. Something this serious is not for the person whose job rides on the performance of students…. Bubba is putting together a team, not dealing with (possible?) crimes. This is an AD decision and Bubba says ok.

In my experience it is like only 10% get reported and a much smaller number go to court. The use of date rape drugs has a much stricter penalty….and even small communities saw the use of rhohypnal….

Well, I can tell you rape is a devastating experience that changes a woman’s life. I can also tell you women claim rape for many reasons….very sad to have to say this. I read the whole article and any young woman who does not want sex, says so, and then stays and completes a BJ ….was violated? He did not have sex and she STAYED and continued. people are sue happy for any reason…. Sorry about Otis but a public university would not ban a student for no reason….IMHO. I hope he turns his life around. Sounds like UND/Bubba gave him every opportunity. And hats off to Bubba for keeping his mouth shut. I wonder how much the AD helped or intervened; if he did not he should have.. No wonder there was bad karma at the USD game. What a burden for ALL of the coaching staff. Looks like some changes in the athletic department may solve some issues… getting a better atmosphere before, during, and after games… sponsorships, pizza give aways, whatever it takes!

So many parts of our society are not “full” any more. Creating the ambiance and getting people there…. Who knows what will bring people in. Sometimes the catalyst is something we never thought of…. I will drive for some games no matter what the price of gas is. I hope it changes.

I just must comment on all of this. Remember Otis is from Minneapolis… in Minneapolis these issues may have been ignored. There may have been little or no consequences. If he talked to relatives or had role models along this path… well, there would have been no fear of repercussions. I am not saying that is true but the climate in Minneapolis is WAY DIFFERENT than Grand Forks. I do not know about Fargo-Moorhead. Again, I feel sad an opportunity was wasted. And I understand the bad juju at the USD game….Bubba had a lot more than 4th down issues, IMHO.

I wish it had turned out different for Otis…. Just sad to see a missed opportunity.
