UND gets a huge home win over EWU. 72-69

7 in a row! For the Crew!

Yah, Brew's Crew does it again.  Man, nice streak, but they sure make it difficult.  Not pretty doing it and every game close but they keep pulling them out despite continuing trouble at times with Knox and Szhablo (sp?) in handling the ball with care.

    Klabo had a good night.

Klabo is really starting to come on as a frosh.  She's definitely earned a spot in the top 7 or 8 rotation and looks to be moving up even higher.  I like her moves inside and agility considering her height.  She's gonna be a good one, no doubt.  The other two frosh looked good tonight too, provided spark.

huh? I guess I'm not following. He's a senior this year....hes dominated his freshman, soph, and junior years. Not sure your example is apples to apples.

Maybe not but my point was he was a "human highlight reel since age 12" (as the poster posted) and now not doing very well as a college senior.  Maybe just a slump (albeit, nearly half a season) in his sr season.  8 pts in 16 games is certainly a slump, guessing he hopes that's all it is.

Many years ago in Chicago Trib sports, Mike Royko (may he RIP) said of a trending playoff baseball team, that there was NO WAY they could win it all.

They simply had too many ex-Cubs on the roster, and explained it in great detail.

Well......do the Wild have too many ex-goofers?

    Just sayin.

Hmm, maybe.  Tonight they played a really good 3rd period to get the game tied up and probably deserved that 4th goal but lost in ot.  Effort there and result should have been better but sooner or late though puck luck and/or up against a hot goalie run their course.  I did figure though when Dal go the 3rd goal to go up 3-2 in 2nd period I belive that it was very doubtful Min with their lack of goal scoring could get 4 goals to beat them.  Sure enough, that came true.

This comment reflects just how ignorant and delusional the NDSU fan base has become. The idea that UND will remain in the toilet with regards to football is the very definition of ignorance. But keep telling yourself that if you wish.

Hah, that's exactly what AC fans thought too in the late 80s/very early 90s (we lost like 10-12 years straight to the knuckleheads) but then it changed.....

All I have to say is regionalization.

Yah, regionalization.  No different than UND women's hoops in the late 80s to mid 90s.  They were consistently a top ten to top five D-2 team nationally yet couldn't even advance past their own NCAA region to the national final 8 as NDSU was super team too (that obviously changed late 90s to early 2000s).  Not really fair but that was the system in place.

What ever happened to Kevin Roy?  That kid has been a human highlight reel since he was 12 years old.  He's shredded every league he's ever played in and now he has 8 pts in 16 games as a senior.  Super strange.

No different than that U.S. soccer player who was a prodigy like at age 15 (Freddie Adue, the supposed next Pele)  yet never became anything special at the pro level as an adult.  Same as with many teenage female pro tennis players of years past.  Reach their highest level/burn out at an early age.  Thought Michelle Wie (sp?) was going to be in that group too although she's been quite successful as a pro (dominating though, no).

A game I remember was the 1990 Regional Finals vs. Metro State.  The Slop was rocking.  IIRC, Metro jumped out to an early lead on like 4-5 quick buckets and one was a backdoor alley oop dunk.  The crowd was looking at each other like "oh sh*t".  But, then UND got in their groove and won the game to go to the Elite Eight.

Wow, blast from the past.  Yah, I recall that game at Hyslop like I recall the 2001 football NCAA semi-final home game vs Cal-Davis.  The place was rocking.  Believe me, I don't believe it was uncommon at all in the 70s and late 80s/early 90s to get 3.5k to 5k+ attendance at Hyslop for some games.

We're already the driver's seat with two games in hand. A sweep puts us in the express lane :) ... Anymore cliches?!

No, not here, but remember to just take it one game at a time and it ain't over 'til it's over.

Again nobody comes close to Joe. 23 mil a year for a slap singles hitter playing first base. Puke.

Oh and I thought his contract was ridiculous when he signed it. Way to many years.

Hrbek signed a home town "discount" contract, along with Puckett (who was from Chicago but adopted Mpls as hometown), Mauer though sought and got his hometown "plus" contract knowing the Twins could ill-afford not to sign him so he tightened the noose.  Thx Joe.

I cant think of the last time the Superbowl has been host to two QBs who were as bad as Manning and Newton (2016). Bears vs Patriots(1986)?

...I think a missed field goal by the Vikings has now given the Broncos two superbowls...Yikes!!

Yah, Atl in '98 (following the 15-1), when G. Anderson missed from 40 yds or so after being perfect all season...Voo-doo reigns over the Vikes.

I actually think the Vikings could of beat either of these teams

I was just thinking the Vikes were a poor man's Denver Broncos (okay offense, good defense) this season and if they up both a notch next season no reason they can't make the Super Bowl.  Hell, we should of beat Denver on the road there this past season..

Yeo was given the "Vote of Confidence" by Fletcher today.  He was laughing and said no, no, no when a reporter asked him if there was any chance of a coaching change.

Wild have issues everywhere: coaching, offense, defense, youth, and yes goalie. No help from their farm team either.

Personal Opinion:  No playoffs = blow it up.

Another bad loss tonight, 4-1 to the Blues.  Fire Yeo (albeit, not all his fault), get a new coach, and blow this team up in 4 weeks if it doesn't change.  This losing/non-winning streak is getting ridiculous from a team expected to surely make the playoffs and maybe even contend.  I dare say Philly, who was expected to be in the lower 1/5 of the NHL's teams and not make the playoffs, has gotta have near the same record as Minn now (more with less).  Hmm.....

Still believe that Shanks issues are mainly mental.  Figure that out and he will be fine.

It would be nice to have had Cashman.....

Agree, mental side is his weak point but having some hands would sure help him too.

UND didn't earn the hockey support it currently has; Ralph Englestad did that. UND men's hockey has as many national championships as UND football in the past 16 years.

And don't oversimplify the support; winning is very important but Bubba is partially behind the support that his players give to other programs. Very unlikely you ever see the men's hockey team at basketball games or football games supporting their classmates like that.

Okay, no natties since 2000 for hockey team but they are always in the top 5 or so nationally every year it seems and like 14 straight NCAA tourney berths.  UND football, since 2000, has the 1 div 2 nattie and probably not one NCAA tourney birth since like 2005 maybe?  It ain't just the arena, believe me.

In the grand scheme of things, no one cares. To make NCAA hockey seem supremely important, you have to live within a bubble. Of course, that's what many UND hockey only fans do.

I love both UND hockey and football, avid fan of both for nearly 40 years.  Your poll is in ref to NFL football, no surprise there it's #1 in the U.S.  Need to compare  NCAA div 1-A ice hockey though to lower tier div 1-AA (FCS) football.  Some folks care about one of them or both of them while many folks could care less about either.  Both are on pretty similar playing fields I would say.   In fact, on the world's stage ice hockey is certainly bigger than football (UND sends players to world tourneys playing for national teams, not so in football).  Me, I love both sports and enjoy 'em both at UND.
