A friend of mine pointed out that these results are compounded by the fact that so many of last years juniors in Dinkytown stuck around for this their senior year, which means that they are taking away valuable developmental minutes from next year's sophomore class. Essentially the gophers will be coming in with two freshman classes next year. Will Minnesota's top sophomores want to stick around for that?

The people in Philadelphia said otherwise. I was guessing it was about equal from the place I sat, but people from Philly kept coming up to us Friday and Saturday telling us how amazed they were that North Dakota fans filled up 3/4 of the Arena Thursday. Perhaps they were just saying that to be nice to the fans of the team that lost. Perception doesn't always = reality, true, but it does mean a lot.

Its a small sample size, but I can name about 5 skaters who left White Bear Lake to play Junior hockey their senior year in the last 10-12 years or so. There are probably more, but of the ones i know, most of them made it to D1 hockey. However, the two Bears currently in the NHL, Justin Braun (San Jose Sharks) and Ryan Carter (Wild), played their senior year in White Bear Lake and got to experience the state tournament with their teammates they had been playing with since mite hockey.

. I think we can all agree it was the most classless cheap shot in college hockey since Lucia speared Trupp.

Michigan won't have to face Wisconsin's most physical defenseman all weekend and the gophers are trying to catch Michigan? Sucks to be Goldy.?

Seriously though, having OSU, MSU and Wisconsin on your schedule allows for no errors for PWR purposes. Notice how a tie this weekend dropped the gophers 6 spots, but the win got them nothing. The Gophs moved up one spot only after Quinnipiac lost. It remains to be seen if either of your teams above do NOT have to run the table in Detroit to have a PWR above 15. Let's talk again at the end of February.

Little 6 has no one in the top 16. Next week Michigan plays with poison. There is no upside playing the Badgers. Gophers get to the tough part of their schedule playing Mankato and possibly Duluth.

Rocco has the opportunity to put his stamp on the 2014-2015 UND hockey team. He leaves after this year and ten years from now he will be vaguely remembered by most of us. He sticks around and makes this HIS team and we may be talking about him for a long time.

WTF is Travis Beck and WTF is he being mentioned on this site? Did he play hockey for a club team somewhere or am I just that out of touch with some hockey program?

It has been my experience that screeds such as this tell you more about the author than the intended target. But I don't expect better from many gopher fans I have met, including the several with whom I shared a club box at the WFC.
