The next shoe to drop will be the rebirth of the CCHA by BGSU and western AHA teams.

Some SDSU fans, including this one, like most NDSU trolls, just trash UND on other message boards. He came here to brag and and has not been our friend.
-
It 2018 for the transition and 2016 for the NCAA rule changes this summer. You haven't been keeping up Southpaw. Your insider position should keep you informed of all Big Sky and NCAA moves, shouldn't it?
-
SDSU needed the home court and bad reffing calls to pull out victories against ORU and Denver and arguably NDSU. Daum was a gift to that program that doesn't have much else. With their luck, they will pull out a win over Maryland too, but this time they won't have Slummit refs on their team.

Only 26 teams have signed for the CIT, so that seems to portend later byes to get to 8 teams. The Las Vegas 16 has been trimmed to 8 because of lack of teams.
-
Wonder if FSN didn't kick in some of the guarantee? Idaho and E Wash apparently accepted invitations to the CBI.

The exact order of my preferences are listed. Naganathan could be a darkhorse, as he gave a good inciteful presentation. Shirley doesn't have experience with hard sciences and research, which is a big negative in my book.

The Boston Globe had a writeup on SmartC2, a drone software company that would manage a fleet of drones for Amazon or UPSU for examples. Grand Forks enticed that software comany to move to Grand Sky apparently. Not many people yet, but could be big.

Have a very different interpretation: NDSU doesn't have the money period.

The NCAA is distributing an extra $200 mill this year on a one time basis. This will be apportioned according to how many scholarships are offered and can be used for players meals, snacks, FCOA or tuition endowments. Essentially, a big part of the FCOA will be paid for at UND, as UND will get nearly a half a mill.

The PAC12 tournament is moving to the new 18.5k T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas from the MGM Grand Arena. That will open another venue on the strip. Suspect the Big Sky will move there after its contract with Reno is up. Las Vegas is a better venue to schmooze potential donors. That's the real reason for picking Reno over Billings and Missoula.
-
The city of Boise is on the Boise St train. Anything to do with the Big Sky is seen as minor league, so they won't sponsor it. Agree it would be a good location, but Reno has more things to do and it's gambling industry subsidizes conventions, tournaments and even flights.

Looks like oil has bottomed in price, as it rose to $37 / barrel, and some OPEC countries seem to point to $50. The prices of oil companies have been very low, but they have gained impressively lately. Triangle Petroleum, which has operations most in the Bakken, was under $0.50 last week but now trade at $1.45. It was a $10 stock before oil prices tanked.

Grandstands on the east side and end zones could be built for a couple of mill. Getting something that people actually can sit and enjoy the same is another matter.

The Big Sky supposedly gave a May 4th soft deadline to Idaho. That's not much time to get schedules ready for 2018.
-
Exactly. Which i think the B1G and other P5 conferences are leading the charge to change the FBS transition rules behind the scenes.
-
A team doesn't need to meet the attenance or stadium requirements in the first year when UND would be counted as FCS. A second year transition team counts as FBS to all opponents.
-
Idaho will go the Big Sky route because their President wants to. What isn't clear yet is if there is an FBS option to the Big Sky.
-
The NCAA has been a stickler for rules when a team is in the FBS transition. After it reaches that, not so much. UND could expand Memorial to 20k cheaply, and play late season games in the Alerus. That would be the El cheapo route. Remember that an FBS transition school doesn't have to have an average of 15k attendees, just has to average 15k tickets sold at 1/3 the price. Another way could be play a home against the Gophers in Vikings Stadium and expand Memorial to 15k.

My interpretation of the Idaho Ad's comments are that if at least six FBS schools defect from an FBS conference to an FCS one, that FCS conference wound become FBS. Say if the western side of CUSA defected, UTEP, UTSA, Rice, N Texas, La Tech and S Miss and joined with NMSU and Idaho, that would be a new FBS conference and they can invite whomever they want further. CUSA is now too unwield6, so a split is probable in the future. But the negative effect of losing CFP money would be profound for those schools, so don't think it will happen. But theoretically, those seven could break off again, invite Wichita St, Mo St, and maybe Ark St and have a new Southwest Conference, while the Big Sky could have Idaho and at least seven other invitees. There are creative ways to build FBS conferences, but teams would lose out on CFP money until the next contract.

Although NMSU has a history in the WAC and Big West and would prefer a western conference, see then teaming up with Wichita St and going where ever they find an FBS home. The Big Sky is a backup plan for NMSU. Think Hawaii is in the MWC for the duration. The Front Range schools of CSU, AFA, and UNM and Boise, Fresno and San Diego St make up the first tier of the MWC. Some of these schools might get offers from the AMERICAN, CUSA, or less likely, the Big 12. Think the MWC will hold on tight to Wyo, Utah St, San Jose St, Hawaii, and Nevada, as they would be needed in the future.

Maybe if you just looked up the FBS rules for once you'd understand that you have no business trolling.
-
You have to care about them, because they are going to screw you. Without a conference, no FBS.
-
The MVC will take footballke internal, add NMSU, Lamar, Sam Houston, ND Wichita State starts football. NDSU, SDSU, USD, W Ill, and Youngstown St are kicked to the curb. At that point either the Slummit invites Mankato and Lindenwoood and Grand Valley to start their own little FCS conference, or the Dakotas take up the BIG Sky offer and joins FBS.
-
Your brain has wrapped around the concept that the NCAA requires FBS conferences to be full conferences apparently. FCS conferences don't need a bona fide conference. FBS must be a conference in good standing that sponsors 16 sports and has eight FBS members. I've reiterated that point for eons but the bizon trolls just can't conceive of why the MVC and MVFC screws them.
