Yes. Would love to get UND at least 2, possibly 3 extra games this year. It would go a long way in the upcoming seasons.
-
Interesting that we play both series with Omaha in the first half of the season. they're back in GF in just over a month.
-
Also Dane Jackson.

I find it interesting that people are getting nostalgic for Freund now. He got raked over the coals for myriad head-scratching offensive calls, trick plays, etc. by many SS posters. Remember the Fargodome play (can't remember which year) when the camera showed him upstairs nervous as hell wondering if his play was going to work at a crucial moment and we all agreed we should have called time-out??
-
Hopefully this game will be just what the doctor ordered to regain the mid-season mojo heading into the SDSU game.
-
I am not worried about making playoffs at 8-4. Should I be? Or should I be worried about getting to 8-4? Honestly, I am not worried about that either. See you in the playoffs.
-
Agree with this too. Crowd noise wasn't that noticeable to me.
-
They will win both. And 2 playoff games. Will be great experience to build off to really push for something special next year.
-
I was consoled that I would feel better after this game. Honestly, I do, despite not getting the win. I hope I can console many of you. You will feel much better on selection Sunday.
-
Agree. I couldn't even face the game thread comments after that one.
-
No. If we lose to SDSU, I hope we are out of the playoffs, and Schmitty takes a look at his staff.
-
Haha, I had the same thought. Normally I agree with AJS on just about everything.
-
I don't agree with this at all. I doubt Jerry is broken. People loved bashing Freund when he had bad calls, too. It happens at all levels.

Bison made out on some critical challenges/reviews. They challenged the spot on that one that was called a first down, and were right. They challenged the lateral on the kickoff return and were right. I still think there was enough video evidence to show that the ball touched the ground without the player's hand underneath it. Should have been incomplete and given UND one more shot.

Regarding playoffs, I think there's a lot to be excited about. There will be worse teams than UND seeded higher in playoffs. UND will have one home game, win it, and go on the road against what will probably be an inferior opponent. They will probably win that game. Then probably on the road again against a tougher team, which would probably be a toss-up. So, I am making a call here and now, UND will have a chance to win a quarterfinal game.

Yes, did not like that one.
-
Yeah, I am surprised how flat his throws are.
-
On the whole, this went better than I was expecting. I am encouraged by the defense. It can take us a long way. 0/4 on potential game-winning drives on the season hurts though. I am hoping that is just Jerry's youth, and next year we get those.

Finally getting around to the podcast discussing the USD game. I don't know how much the punt block was discussed on here, but getting the punt blocked for a safety is probably the second best case scenario for that situation, with best case scenario obviously a clean punt with good distance. Consider: 1) It wasn't a special teams touchdown for USD. 2) It wasn't recovered by USD special teams near the goal line for a 1st & Goal for USD offense. 3) While it did give USD 2 points, it allowed UND to kick off in a normal fashion and play the field position game (which, in turn, USD still scored, but they had to earn it rather than have it handed to them). All points beside, this needs to be a best case scenario every time from here on out. ST needs to fix this.
-
Unfortunately, I am not excited about this game anymore. I am only about 25% confident in a win, whereas before I was about 60%. Losing to USD wasn't the worse possible loss, but it took a lot of luster off the season. Someone talk me off the ledge.

Pardon me if this has been discussed before somewhere, but the 3x3 OT loss on Friday made me do a double take about points/standings/rankings, etc. So, in the NCHC, there is no difference between losing a 3x3 OT and losing a shootout, is that right? 1 point for either?? But, as for the NCAA, a 3x3 OT loss is 2/3 loss of a loss and 1/3 of a win?? If the 3x3 OT ends as tie, it is recorded as a tie, regardless of shootout results?

This is awesome! I have saved the game results pages for future referencing. I don't see any other scenario during that era that fits my memory like the 1995 season you pointed out. I had forgotten about the Morningside game in between.
