Google "is most recent and current the same thing?" and you get this: While "most recent" and "current" can sometimes be used interchangeably, "current" generally refers to what is happening or existing right now, while "most recent" implies something that happened or exists within a shorter period of time compared to other things in the past. So, I stand by my statement that the "most recent" (i.e. not current) drought was 16 years.

Figured I'd start a new topic solely for the Frozen Four, which starts today. Even without UND at FF, this is still one of my favorite sporting events of the year. Once UND is no longer in contention for the year, I cheer for teams that have never won (2 of them this year - WMU and PSU) or the one with the longest title drought (BU is at 16 years, which is the same length as UND's most recent title drought), and of course Denver is the defending champ. So, my order of preferred champions is WMU, PSU, BU, DU, with ANYONE but Denver as an acceptable outcome. I was at the Frozen Four the last time it was held in St. Louis (2007), and I believe the championship game set an attendance record at the time (19k+), so I hope the event is well received again.

Probably. Just my USA Hockey pride showing up.

For the last spot, I hope Jackson chooses an American coach. I don't want a full staff that cheers for Canada in international competition.

I did not realize he was a student assistant in 2019-20.

So long as the statements are true, I like the move to post the quotes of former players and associates. Helps me become more excited about the pick.

Does anyone know what our NIL has raised as a whole?

Like sone of you, I thought Karl would HC at UND someday. Not sure how things went awry, but I wish him luck. He was a big part of UND’s success this century.

Also Denver and Duluth.

Me too. Font is a bit off (too fat?). I’ve always liked Wisconsin’s jerseys with the simple diagonal. Wouldn’t mind copying their font and putting the UND sticks logo on the shoulders. -
My guess is that ESPN sets these times. And it’s the right call. Penn State is a known national commodity and I would guess their fans will travel. Good optics for college hockey.

Frozen Four times set already. NCHC game at 4 pm, BU/PSU at 7:30 pm.
-
Bucci just said the same thing. A guaranteed team in the Final, to boot.
-
Anyone but Denver. I'd even take a BU or B1G championship. (Actually, I have nothing against BU.)

Shooty McShooties.

I think the Denver guy may have won the race. Thoughts?
-
I thought they were the better team and carried play. Penn State breaks out fast, though. A very good game for two teams battling for their first Frozen Four.
-
Hope BC can use that challenge to turn the tides a bit. As much as I like the idea of rooting for the NCHC, did we cheer for Minnesota b/c of the WCHA??
-
Penn State winning the NC would probably garner the most exposure for college hockey. Is it worth it?
-
Say what you will about penn state, but it is fun to see another school really embrace college hockey. Would be fun to be at the frozen four with them.

I’d be ok with Herter. May be my second choice after Raboin. He was there for Duluth’s success and now at WMich with their success. UND alum.

so tell us who the new coach is.

I had an idea for a 2 site “super regional” a couple years ago. Basically you have two 8-team regionals in “hockey cities” like Boston, Detroit, St. Paul, and Denver (rotate year to year) to whittle down to your Frozen Four. Then the Frozen Four would alternate between warm weather cities like Tampa and Las Vegas.

I have a friend who used to work with Brad at the Herald. I’ve met Brad a couple times but we are not friends. I can tell you that his professionalism as a journalist is of the highest standard. College hockey as a whole is fortunate to have a guy like Brad working as a beat writer.

Maine really giving this game away.
