Yeah he'll play wing as he is so small. He was playing wing this year for developmental reason until Hak realized no one else was winning draws (and Rocco was out top faceoff man I believe).

I agree, Rocco needs another year or two. Making to the NHL is no easy task....he should get his degree.

Great news! I don't feel as good about Rocco anymore. I sure do wish he would play one more year, however, when we got him I figured only 2-3 years. Anything more than that would be lucky.

I get what you're saying....I'm just saying that it has a chance of happening. Why would a kid play in the USHL for a year or 2, show up on campus and then subsequently bolt to the CHL with only one year remaining? Why not just go immediately at 16?

Koules....there are many other players from other teams as well (kid who was supposed to go to WMU). I wasn't simply talking about UND. Maybe I should have said every so often because "a lot" seems like it happens 50% or whatever.

Yes it has. Are you simply asking do USHL players go to the CHL? Or are you lumping in all former USHL players....including those which decommit....which are obiously a ton. Schmaltz is the same age as all those NTDP that decommit every year and head north. Also, I was including NTDP players in that comment, as they are affiliated with the USHL.

I thought the same thing....however that has happened many times. It really depends on which "advisors" he goes with and who drafts him. When you get drafted it is pretty easy to be persuaded. They pretty much tell you everything you want to hear and push the CHL route as they have a financial interest in that league.

Agreed, I have thought this the whole time. There was someone on this site who kept saying N Schmaltz is a lock to come in like they had an inside contact or something. I need that reassurance again.

...oh man. Hear we go. Neither should leave....it would be unfortunate. For some odd reason I feel like Rocco will leave. I am also starting to think that Nick Schmaltz is a risk to head to the CHL...and that may lead to J Schmaltz heading to the AHL. St. Louis is so deep on their blue line, I think it would be dumb for Schmaltz to leave.

I forgot about him...I too sure hope he figures it out. His numbers in juniors were nice....he may be more of the OD mold.

I agree....Nschmaltz with parks and Mac. Rocco, Jewels and Johnson. Gaarder, OD and Pattyn (all seniors, will be tough to play against). St. clair, chyzk and Simo. There is it Hak. Chyzk is the player I believe could take someone's spot, above.

Haha...I doubt it. Mn played terrible in that game....it was glorified men's league. What were the shot attempts....something like 90-75. That more than up and down play.

Yeah I did read that too. Do you know what kind of academic benifits they get (% of tuition)? Or are you guessing that they get most covered because it was mentioned they get other tuition benefit options. Either way...the thing that sticks out to me was the 1 draft pick thing. On the flip side, Union may be hurting next year as they did have a decent amount of seniors on this team. Also, I think Shayne G. is going to bolt.

Does everyone on the U-18 teams accelerate their schooling? Almost all of them are going to college next year however they all appear to be in that "junior year of high school" age. I see some with January/Feb birth years but Gersich is June I believe; Larkin, Milano and Tuch appear to be too. I wonder if Gersich was old for his grade.
