University of North Dakota Hockey 2014-15 season

I live hear too. I definitely know what you mean. However, the goofs are sitting in a recruiting gold mine where most kids grow up as goof fans. We have to work a tad harder. -

I know, it was very tough to write. He impressed me early but had a few defensive mental lapses late in the season. Who else sits though? -

I like a lot of what you post and we all like our Toews, Oshie's, etc. however, what do you have against older players who peak later? I think that's the great thing about college hockey. Also, Ladue was very, very solid last year as a freshman. A tad better than "alright". His mental mistake against CC was what it was, but his +/- was what it was as well. -
Exactly. Doesn't happen very often but when it does, GM's sure point out the flaw.

What I meant was this kid obviously wants to develop very fast (probably too fast if you ask me) and he probably wouldn't have played much at UND until his junior year. He'll get PP time in the O, you think he would have ever sniffed our PP? Not a chance.

This one was worse. Miller bolted right after the draft. This kid said he was 100% before the draft and last week, each time when the rumors surfaced.

Gage is interesting because he should take a step forward, hopefully, he has size and could flourish in a PK role. With the offensive dmen we have we will not be lacking production from the back end. It may be a good idea to have at least one stay at home dman. Schmaltz may take a step forward with his defensive game however in my mind he is our top offensive dman. Ladue and poolman are true 2-way dmen, mattson is 1-way, stetcher is one-way and thompson probably leans 1-way. It will be interesting who hak chooses to sit but I don't think it will Poolman. In my mind it's stetcher or Gage. It will be whoever is playing better I'm sure. -
That may have been the worst de-commit I have ever seen, and it happened to a guy who rarely loses players. One day after the rumors came out this kid swore up and down they were false and that he was 100% going to BC. He even went to orientation, only to back out a week later. Anyone see Gaudreau's twitter post? You were right Goon.

Was there a deadline on when we had to implement a new one? Many "real" fans just want the process to be well thought out, or we'll end up with some absolutely stupid nickname.
-
You're out smarting him

That sucks for college hockey. Looks like Jerry isn't invincible.

I get that they can force us to change our name, but what are we currently doing wrong? Nothing.
-
What??? The NCAA can't do anything.

I do like that top line however I worry about that second from an experience standpoint. Doesn't hurt to try it out though, you are correct there is a lot of raw talent. I really like that third. I would keep Mattson with Ladue and try Thompson with schmaltz. I thought Thompson got so good by the end of the year and has good size and great skating ability. I would also be very shocked if poolman doesn't work his way into the lineup on day 1. He and Ladue are very similar. -
What is wrong with that? Pretty sure he wad trying to say don't pick a dumb name....dont rush into the decision.

Red River High School already has that logo. Personally if they come up with something new it better be just as good as what we had, or better. Not something recycled from a different school.

Exactly. The community is not ready for a new nickname, therefore they should go about finding a new one very carefully and well thought out. Gershman's article was spot on.
-
I wish the kid the best. He needed to work on his O game, that wasn't going to happen at the college level...at least not at the speed he wanted to develop. We'll find someone else to do what he would have done for UND

I don't think Schmaltz played against the Czechs today. Curious what's going on. He had 2 assists the last time he played.
-
Does anyone know if Schmaltz is dressing against the Czechs today? I see he was scratched against the Finns. Barring injury, I'm slightly shocked he was chosen to be sat.
