It looks as though Schmaltz is having a very productive Hawks camp. Good to see, can't wait for him to suit up for us. -

I think Pattyn and Gaarder have to be together on that third line. I will be interesting to see who Hak puts with them. If Hak can roll 4 lines even strength that line makes sense....then I would like to see a young line in the 4th spot. Chyzk/Simonson/Poganski/Murphy/Olson/St. Clair are all fighting for one spots on the 3rd/4th lines. I still think there may be an opening on the second too. -

I think that makes sense...I'm hoping 27 can take another step forward. He had a nice middle of the year but drifted off towards the latter part of the year. Typical for a (true) freshman. -
Makes sense.

Agreed.....and he does have one heck of a shot. If he comes in and is on top of his game (and can play a top 6 role well) that would be huge for this team. -

http://www.tampabay....nt-camp/2187391 I too am hoping this is O'Donnell's year. I have not been as high on him as some of the others but sometimes breakthroughs can happen your senior year. We need to have a strong top 6 this year. -

I liked the article in J. Schmaltz. I think he is going to have a phenomenal year. In that article (posted on Goon's site) Armstrong noted he is still a long ways away from being a pro...does that mean there is a chance he could come back for his senior year? I doubt it -

Ha, 88 more days seems like quite along time. It could be worse I guess. -
Great for him, I always liked Chris.

You are exactly right....he wasn't very good. His numbers in the ECHL are even pretty poor.

Nice thanks. What I meant was high school is not all that challenging and average high school grades can get a student into UND. That is a fact. An NCAA program shouldn't be wasting their time with way below average students….as school is the other side of the equation here. UND isn't UNC.

Mind-blowing.

Right when I read Mantha may be heading North I was kind of t'd off simply knowing that we may lose Schmaltz after this year and the fact that it never hurts to have too many defensemen. Then I started to think unbiasedly and realized this kid needs to work on parts of his game that are tough to work on at the college level, his O game. He is probably better off going to the OHL where kids will be less mature, giving him the oppurtunity to play in more situations earlier. Either, way I seriously doubt he was going to make an impact before his junior year and this kid appears to think he's a first rounder....no big deal. After reading about his lack of intelligence, it's all coming together. This kid simply doesn't fit the college mold. It's pretty tough not to get into UND (no disrespect, great school).

I don't believe they are coming directly from Somalian. I am fairly certain, in most cases, they are coming from larger cities (Minneapolis, Chicago, etc) looking to start businesses or simply looking for work. They hear the ND economy is booming and they start flocking.

Interesting gersich gets drafted by a relative.

Wait until 2015-2016....then Kopitar will get a big deal. As someone previously noted, the team caps will be increasing by a significant amount next summer. CHI simply needs to make it work this summer. Also, they'll both come down a little, Bowman is a great GM and he'll figure something out.

Haha, I got beat up a bit this year as well.

Crosby with the Lindsay... that's a nice one.

He's so good. He should be their captain.

I like this bunch, a nice blend of highly talented true freshman with some highly talented overagers who put up very good numbers in the USHL. I think we have this year's Natty all locked up -

I'm going to go out on a hunch and say the only way he sits is if he's injured. Also, my guess is that he'll end up with 27+ pts. -

You guys seem to like Thompson up top with Schmaltz, similar to my initial guess. I thought Thompson looked so good at the end of the season, his first pass out of the zone is ridiculous (similar to Schmaltz's). In regards to my initial D profected lineup, the reason I was putting Ausmus over Stetcher was simply his size and the fact he is more defensive. He would be useful on the PK. Early in the season Stetcher showed some offensive flashes however we already have some highly offensive defensemen (Schmaltz, Mattson, Ladue....even Poolman who is more like Ladue in that they are both above average 2-way defensemen). On a side note, I also really like the size and mobility of that defensive core....could be scary if they click early. As for SiouxScore's linup...I like that top 6. If Poganksi figures out the speed early that could work. Olson may be a nice fit there too. There were times last year when I thought Chyzk could be that underclassman who could be good his junior and senior years. We'll have to see. Also, Simonson may be able to flow up and down the lineup. He does have offensive skill; his shot is very good.
