Agree. We have Verhoeff, potentially Carels, Laurila, Mackenzie all who could/should run our PP1 and PP2 next year. Even Strathmann has been waiting around…maybe wants a look at some point. We’re not getting both Carels and DuPont. We’re getting one of those guys I’m assuming.

2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

In a great spot, my only focus is the big tourney -
There’s only so many spots on one PP…would take some interesting negations.
-
Honestly intrigued now…one might assume you’re talking about Carels. But he’s in PG, tough tough travel for the western league. But on the flip side, maybe he does love it there and sleeps well on buses 🤣

I actually like Gruba, had a really nice 20 year old year. Could be a nice college upperclassman.
-
Completely agree. At the bantam ages there are kids that grew early that dominate, others are late bloomers so simply playing high end aaa is an elite feat in itself. By juniors, they’re all grown for the most part, that’s when it matter the most.
-
Both are very good. Both grew extremely early so that has a part in their gaudy stats. As far as McMillian goes, he already is about 6’2” so he may be the bigger prize. when looking at the WHL rankings (for what’s they’re worth ) remember, they’re missing a ton of great US players. The 2011 group out of MN is absolutely stacked.

The penalties have killed us…but our lack of any sort of offense is concerning

My gut says sweep, brain says split
-
I would assume he’ll be a top target among that birth year/class.
-
He’s always been significantly bigger than everyone, even as a youngster. Even hit puberty before basically everyone. Really smart player, athleticism would be the biggest question mark. As someone else said…seeing him play Junior may be important.

Tough league
-
I’m guessing it was fairly known where he wanted to go. Advisors do the work in the background
-
Thoreson is a high ender for sure, I wasn’t doubting that for a second. And when it’s all said and done, he absolutely could be the top 09 dman. But as of today, it’s Diego. That’s fairly known actually. Again, things can change (and they do ). All in all, im glad we got a high ender that’s local!
-
Like the highest ceiling or highest in his draft year? Diego Gutierrez is widely considered the top 09 dman. But, they are in two different draft classes.
-
I’ve heard he could go to Youngstown
-
Yeah, totally would make sense
-
There’s two other dmen on Fargo with more pts. And again, pts aren’t everything with dmen. But he’s fairly undersized, there’s no rush with anything. Wouldn’t be a terrible decision whatsoever. Depends on who we lose I suppose. As others noted, Strathmann could bolt potentially. Hope not.

Lindberg could be pushed back a year tbh. Probably even should. Good player, but he could continue to get that offensive flair back. Come in more ready with a bigger role.
