i just looked it up. In MN kids have to be 5 by 9/1 which is when they’d start. I’m not for or against btw, I just noticed the trend the past ten years or so. I’d holdback with my kids, especially boys. What the east coasters are doing is wild though.

Yeah I’m aware of Canadas ages, fine unless your kid is a Dec birthdate. They’ll get lost like their hockey players do. I will say, if a MN kid is born in June or July, or even early August….they had the chance to enter K at 5. Its parents holding back, not teachers in almost all cases. When I grew up 9/1 was the start date for K. Now it seems it’s 6/1 to follow the MN hockey age cutoff Whats even more wild, look out east…I just saw a 2030 grad with a January birthdate at 15 natty camp. Nuts

Lots of good players on there, the 2010 level has a ton of good players not eligible either, must be later 10s. A ton of them are summer birthdate holdbacks. 2011s will be similar. I know it’ll be rare for players to commit early in this new world, but I hope Thompson does. Strong GF ties plus he plays a very very responsible game. He’d fit in nicely.

Agreed. Ridiculously high IQ but very very short. Stocky but again, very short. He’s always been a top pt producer at the 09 birth year, but has gotten looked over due to his height. I think he’d be a great get, similar to Swanson. Offensive dynamo that will almost certainly be a 4 year guy (maybe 5 )

100% I could be very wrong, however I would be shocked if they committed prior to next summer. There’s really no point to be honest. Maybe behind the scene, but not publicly. Huge…hockey’s path was so great because it gave late bloomers a chance. I’m fine with removing 25 year olds and guys who’ve already played pro, but cutting kids’ path at 22 (in some cases) was a bit aggressive. Especially for those kids who’ve already started HS and will graduate prior to 18.
