From what I can see, he lets his skill guys be skill guys. He allows mistakes. He knows when to tighten things up by the end of the year.

The hockey will be much better…but I do agree. It’s going to be much harder for most US kids to play college hockey. Especially in the short term. Many kids will be playing the full 3 yrs of NAHL/USHL hockey.

Goalies are so hard to recruit because the game changes so much from HS, to juniors, to college. You get the best 16 year old and they end up getting shelled in juniors. It’s tough to figure out.

Tanner Walos decommited from Wisco…he’s pretty good. Has an ‘08 younger brother that’s very good. Something to keep an eye on.

Obviously…boy that sucks. NTDP being in Plymouth, DC getting the WJC last year (and this year). Nice little advantage.

At this point NCHC…only because it seems the B10 has been pulling them all. Need to balance it out a bit. I definitely don’t want him going to the gophs.

Oh there has been. Sure UND and DU still get blue chips here and there. But more blue chips than ever before are choosing to play college puck. I could be a bit older than you but I remember a pocket of time where we had at least one first rounder 3-4 years in a row. Teams like BC, BU, Mich etc are basically doing that now with more volume. Not bashing our recruiting at all, we have a great class this year. We just don’t hit those blue chips as hard as we used to…or as hard as those other schools have been lately. Times have changed a bit. That’s fine as long as we produce.

Right, but the very top players are choosing Big10 and HE at a significantly higher rate the last couple years. Doesn’t mean they’ll win, but it can help and it’s fun to have players go to the NHL.
