  1. Other than Tomek (obviously), are the boys healthy this coming weekend? Also, I found it odd how Schloss kept referring to the Tomek injury situation as "Tomek" doesn't feel as though he is ready. First time all year that it's being put directly on the player. Obviously Berry is saying that to Schloss however there might be an underlying reason there. Typically, it is referred to as we don't think he's ready. Or the docs don't think he's ready. I could be reaching a bit but something I noticed. Schloss referred to that situation in the same manner every time it was brought up this week.
  2. Didn't he sign an entry level deal? That is pretty typical. 2 or 3 years I believe.
  3. What? See the difference from '90 to '15. That's triple.
  4. I am talking about the growth of hockey in our country, as far as the USA Hockey members. It has been staggering. Many of those new members will most likely get into college hockey at some point. The more kids pick up hockey the bigger hockey becomes in the US.
  5. I would rather be a very large fish in a quickly growing pond than a minnow in the ocean.
  6. Ok, so you are not a hockey fan in general. I get why you would say things like that then. Makes sense.
  7. Can anyone tell me how the UMD NCHC.tv feed is?
  8. Yeah, Canada tried that for awhile and overthought the process. Last year they stacked the team with the best U20 players and took gold. I get what you're saying but no one can say there weren't politics involved here. Bob McKenzie, Craig Button, etc. are wondering what the heck the USA leaders were doing as far as their thought process. Many of the 19 year old first rounders they cut could play multiple roles. They at least deserved to make the prelim roster. Regardless of this team's outcome, I still question the thought process and I feel bad for some of these kids who should have been locks. Still hoping for the best though.
  9. Albeit in the BCHL, Cakebread seems to be turning things around. Won't turn 19 until April. He is still in our pipeline correct?
  10. yeah I guess. Dilks noted there was some sort of rift. Either way, I'm not the only one saying USA hockey botched this though. They were supposed to be weak on D but loaded up front. Either way they should be solid but definitely head scratching choices for sure. Hopefully the can medal.
  11. read a rumor that Kyle Conner has never been in good graces with USA hockey (i.e. Didn't play for the NTDP) so he was out. 16 pts in 13 games as a true frosh. 1st rounder who slipped to 17th overall.
  12. read a rumor that Kyle Conner has never been in good graces with USA hockey (i.e. Didn't play for the NTDP) so he was out. 16 pts in 13 games as a true frosh. 1st rounder who slipped to 17th overall.
  13. Yeah, he had a bad injury this summer and obviously isn't quite the same however he is still having an average year (which isn't bad by taking a peek at his numbers). Either way, how isn't he picked over this Eansor kid. Unfortunately I think there is politcs going on here.
  14. Completely agree, very respectable journalists are calling the USA leadership out. The biggest mystery to me is this Eansor kid.
  15. there is really no explanation. Kyle Conner is another snub, one of the best playerers in college hockey and he doesn't even make the prelim roster. Kid was the best ushl player last year. Feel bad for those kids. I also question USA hockey execs. Hopefully hanafin is able to play.
  16. Got to be happy with Schmaltz and Boeser making the prelim roster however as a bigtime USA hockey fan I am extremely disappointed with the makeup of the roster. No Tuch, Roslovic, Conner, and Garland. But they bring in a bunch of former NHL players' kids to play (obviously not talking about Tkachuk, he's great)? Doesn't make a ton of sense. Glad to see Borgen get a shot though.
  17. Do you think he actually meant that? From what I've heard Mcyntire was pretty set on going. It was also his time, he was ready. Same story with Schmaltz. Every good player loves playing in GF as they are pretty much celebs, but both of these players was ready. For their development, it was better for them to move up.
  18. Huh? How did you think about this from reading my post? Obviously winning a natty is the goal for a program of our caliber.
  19. Ha, agreed. We lost a first round defensemen however we were way too deep as it was back there. We brought in two very good defensemen who would have no trouble cracking any other lineup in the country (probably top 4). We lost some older forwards who provided great leadership for us however we also brought in an extremely talented group of freshman (both older and younger). Now I am somewhat shocked that guys like Wilkie, Gersich and JJ aren't hitting the stat sheet a bit harder but that's fine for now. I also thought Pogo and LJ would provide more offense but that's also whatever for now. Boeser come's in as advertised and Schmaltz has taken steps to round out his game a bit. Both are first rounders and are dominating like they should be. Our team is better this year than last year's; hopefully they can make it as far or further when it comes tourney time. I'm hoping guys like LJ, Pogo, Gersich, Wilkie, Olson, and Simo find some of the offense they had in juniors. Other than Pogo last game they have been riding the coattails of that top line. These boys are really good, they need to get some confidence and show up.
  20. Sitting on the bench? He plays just as much as Subban. Either way, Providence is not that great this year so I'm sure it's a different atmosphere than he's used to.
  21. I think there is a small chance the nickname goes away over time. A good meaningful nickname should come about organically. The current students voted in FH and obviously the die hard fans aren't having it.
  22. I don't think there would be any difference to me. This team's D-core is so good that other teams are having problems doing anything against them. They come out of the corners with the puck, their first pass out of the Dzone is awesome, they give other teams 0 time and space, and they are playmakers in the Ozone. I can't remember the last time I've seen this deep of a D core in college hockey, it's been awhile. Couple that with some offensive playmakers and a steady goalie and any coach is going to have a bunch of wins. If they can get some secondary scoring on a consistent basis they should easily have top seed come tourney time.
