I dont deny that Lucia is the main reason the rivalry is ending. It's more important to him as the flagship program in our state to play the Minnesota schools before anyone else. Disagreeing with him on that is a legit point of view. But yababy8's assertion that Minnesota had a "significant" impact on UND losing their nickname is beyond stupid.

Club level is a very nice view with shorter lines for bathrooms and concessions.

It still sucks though. Maybe in the long run it will turn out to be great for the growth of college hockey but for now it's just depressing to think about. Im going to really appreciate every second of this last Final Five. I might even appreciate being around UND fans for the last time as conference memebers.

If I may play devil's advocate here, Mike Guentzel was away from the Gopher program for 5 years but he made an immediate and obvious difference in the Gophers D last year. So if UND's defensive unit isn't performing up to par yet than I think Sioux fans have a right to be concerned and even critical of Berry up to this point.

There will be a mass exodus of players leaving early though. Bjugstad, Haula, and Schimdt are gone after this year. Others may leave as well like Skjei, Budish, Alt, etc.

We're talking about the hockey series discontinuing and somehow you relate it to the "arrogance" of the Twin Cities residents. I just dont see the connection.

And the state of Minnesota is one of the worst in the country at producing Div 1 football players so both your points about why we should be better make no sense at all. Kill has the program on the right track after taking over the dumpster fire brewster left behind.

It absolutely sucks that these two programs dont have any games scheduled after this season. Not only is it the best rivalry in college hockey but I honestly believe it's one of the most intense rivalries in ANY sport at ANY level.

Lucia desperately did not want to join the Big Ten and one of the reasons is because he was worried about how it would effect the other MN programs. He was determined to make sure the U plays those schools every year, it was his #1 priority. North Dakota doesn't have other D1 programs in their state so I understand why their fans don't fully understand Lucia's thinking on this. But to most Minnesota hockey fans it is imperative to play our in-state rivals yearly. Now it's also important to Minnesota hockey fans to play UND, myself included. But as the flagship program in our state the U has an obligation to help those programs by keeping a regular season series going. UND doesn't need the U like Bemidjii or Mankato does.

After reading my post I realize I sounded like a smart a**, sorry about that. I just assumed you were aware Friday's game didn't count towards anything.

The difference is the Gophers played one game and won while UND played two games and tied one of em. It's not rocket science.

The Canisius goalie is one of the best in the nation but even so the Gophers kinda sleepwalked through the whole weekend(including U-18 team Fri). Next week I expect them to ramp it up.

Two of the four? So you're saying that Gothberg is more seasoned and has proven himself more than Wilcox even though both are freshman with exactly no NCAA experience coming into the season? Ok, got it. You can only make that argument for one of the four and that's Saunders. Bottom line is we really dont know yet which team will have the better goaltending.
