And every time I go to the Ralph I will inevitably take a shoulder from a Sioux fan while walking the concourse. We all have stories like this over the years. The fanbases are more simliar than we like to think.

I'm extremely pissed about it. I just understand that it's happening for a long list of reasons while most UND fans want to place most if not all the blame on Lucia which I don't think is fair or accurate.

Ive heard him say he would like to play CC and DU at some point as well which makes sense. I think it would be wrong for the U to make sure we play UND every year and blow off those two schools who we also have a long history with. Lucia definitely can't be blamed for two things. First, the situation surrounding the Sioux nickname at the time schedules were being made. And second, the fact that we need to play the other 4 in state programs every year.

Oh really? I didn't realize Wisconsin had 4 other D-1 hockey programs in their state they need to schedule? The Gophers are obviously forced to play the Big Ten schedule, then their first priority, and rightly so, was to make sure we play our in-state schools. After that there simply is not enough room to play UND every year. Some years yes but not every year. Lucia also wants to make sure we continue to play DU and CC some years as well. There's just no way the Gophers and Sioux can play every year its just not realistic.

I dont think hockey popularity is that far behind basketball to be honest. If it was then why are the hockey tickets this weekend a tougher get than a top ten basketball match up tomorrow? Hockey averages around 10K per game, basketball I bet during the non-confernce was averaging even less.

True, but I think he instinctively turned to protect the puck along the boards therefore his back was then facing the UAA player. Maybe it happens more than I think but its hard for me to believe that players would willingly put themselves in that defenseless and dangerous position in order to draw a penalty.

Why would a hockey player put themself in a dangerous position like that? I understand players try to draw penalties but not by putting themselves at risk.

Gopher basketball has a huge game Thurs vs #5 Michigan and the Wild open the season Saturday night but the hockey series is easily the toughest ticket to get right now. I think thats pretty cool.

I think it's an indication that the Sioux program has made their own bed when it comes to their reputation from the refs and now they have to sleep in it.

I dont see high scoring games at all. Gophers give up 22 shots a game and 1.82 goals. Sioux aren't bad in that regard either, I believe 20th or so in the nation in goals allowed? I see a pair of 3-2 games unless there's an empty netter. I'll predict a split like I do every time these two get together for a series.
