This was kinda what happened to me last year as well.

Bar Shuffleboard being subject to different sizes and surfaces just appeals to the appeal and raw human nature of the sport, like the green monster in fenway or the short porch in Yankee stadium. It challenges participants to strive various settings, including, but not limited to, variable lighting, levels of sobriety, noise levels, and surface conditions. Is there enough saw dust on the table? Is there too much? Is the table wet from spilled beer? Have you ever seen croquet played in the rain? I didn't think so. All the unnatural challenges push competitors to the very limit of their person, hell sometimes even past it? Many a times I have seen a frustrated player toss a bullet stone at an opponents carelessly dangled fingers to send a message. That kind of palpable intensity is something croquet could only hope to bottle up.
