  1. UND looks to build off of their excellent performances this weekend with a trip to Ames to take on Iowa State. The Cyclones were picked 8th out of 10th in the Big 12 conference but they have had a major victory against the then #1 team in the nation, the Tar Heels of North Carolina. They recently came off of a loss to now #20 ranked UCONN. The Cyclones are coached by an old friend, TJ Otzelberger, who coached SDSU from 2016-2019, leading the Bunnies to back to back NCAA tournament appearance before taking the UNLV job. After two rough season, he took a step up to the Big 12 and despite a 6th place finish in the Big 12, it was good enough to make the NCAA tournament, where they made a run to the Sweet 16. Not a bad first year. Now they look to surprise many in the rugged Big 12. ISU brings one of the better defenses in the nation, so UND is going to have to figure out how to score and hit shots. They can really guard the 3 point line, which makes up for the fact that they haven't been hitting a lot of 3s to start the year. UND is also going to have to take care of the basketball with this pressure defense that ISU will bring. This will be a good test this week, not only against ISU, but later in the week against Portland. I want to see some continued progress in building momentum and confidence as we are now 2.5 weeks away from conference play. A winning non-conference record is very much attainable and at worst should go into conference play matching their win total from last year. Keep doing great things on defense and try and build up the offense today. Maybe try and give these Cyclones a scare. Game is on ESPN+
  2. At some point they will need to make a tough decision if things don't improve.
  3. ORU hasn't played up to their talents, USD is struggling to find their shooting, NDSU is struggling to get anything in their backcourt and forwhatever reason refuse to run through Grant and Andrew, SDSU still finding themselves. Meaning, despite losing two players to injury, DU is legit and is a top 3 threat this year. UST freshman are legit and are going to be a problem. Something seemed to have clicked for UND this last week, now can they build on it. The 2nd half of CSF is a great look of what this team can become... *whispers: and they have another gear... when Omot and Eaglstaff really get locked it
  4. The seniors are Sueker, Nero, and Danielson. Nero and Danielson both have COVID options (and they are the last two players who have COVID eligibility who were original to UND when COVID went down)
  5. The Packers play the Bears next week The starting QB will be?
  6. Again. Why would you play QB at Wisconsin. Did you see what they have done to Mertz?
  7. I never expected them to win the SB. A Division title and a playoff win was my expectation. Everything else will be gravy. Fix the defense next year and then there will be SB expectations.
  8. They lost to Idaho? Holy cow. Maybe they played a perfect game and we just had our worst that night.
  9. If you had UND having a better record that NDSU at this point of the season, please raise your hands.
  10. Macro Thoughts: -Best weekend of UND basketball since the USD games in 2021 (The Bentiu weekend) -This team has made some very significant progress this week. -Winning non-conference record is very much in play. Micro: -The 2nd half gave us a real look of what this team can become. That was the best half of basketball of the year on both sides of the ball. They grinded out on defense long enough and then the offense took over. -UND held two D1 teams to under 60 points this weekend. The defense was scrappy and tough. The improvement on that end of the floor is real. -Best game for T in a UND uniform. Was doing it on both ends of the floor and stepped outside hit some 3's. 18 and 8 is a good performance. I hope that this is the game that allows him to take off. -Nice game from Norman, hit 3 3s, made his free throws and hey, showed me something on defense. Need more of this. -Nero: Can he carve a bench role? Last two games says yes. Can it be sustained?-Levias: He might be what the doctor ordered with this team. -Another important development: Jalen Trent starting to look to score. That needs to happen more. -Omot was quiet but knew when to take over the game, got his points to really put the game away. -Tough go for Treysen today, but that will happen from time to time. Shake it off. -Levias started and continued to play good basketball. He had 4 turnovers but I love his aggressivness in attacking the basketball and his distribution. -Mathews 2 big blocks really got the crowd going. He is looking healtier and healthier and this is also important. Now... What is UND going to do rotation wise with Brooks back?
  11. 73-57 UND Final 5-3 and just matched their D1 win total from last year already with 4.
  12. Nero made 1 of 2 but just got a tip in 73-57 UND 45 seconds left
  13. Let this sink in everybody UND brought in two D1 team this weekend Won both of them and held both teams to under 60 points. Read that again
  14. Remember when I said Friday was their best game? I would like to retract that statement
