  1. He might be a bit rusty offensively, but Marlon isn't on defense and distributing the ball
  2. Marquette 17 UND 13 10:41 1st UND heading to the line forced the Eagles into 9 turnovers already.
  3. Marquette 7 UND 5 15:15 1st Nice little response after Marquette jumped out to a 7-0 lead
  4. nice feed from Brown to Rebraca? stupid grey unis 7-5 Marquette
  5. Marlon still has a jumper that looks like a missle
  6. UND had a solid effort offensively but not defensively against a pesky Mayville squad. Nevertheless, it was enough to get the win for UND. Now they hop on the bus to head on down to Milwaukee once again... but this time its against national ranked Marquette. To say that Marquette is having a good start to the year is an understatement. Picked 2nd in the Big East behind the defending champs Villanova, the season has lived up to expectations... minus a upset down in Bloomington against Indiana. They have found their stride in the last two weeks, beating then #12 ranked Kansas State at home, and then later beating their in-state rival #12 ranked Wisconsin at home. They still have a stiff non-conference test coming up against #14 Buffalo after the UND game, so between beating your in-state rival and having a tough mid-major after this, there is always the chance that they could be walking into a trap. The Golden Eagles are coached by Steve "Wojo" Wojciechowski, who is in his 4th season at Marquette. Currently he has an 81-61 overall record. The former Duke assistant is trying to carve his niche in a program that has a rich tradition of great coaches. He has to follow two tough acts: Tom Crean, who had some kid from Chicago called Wade, and made a Final 4, and Buzz Williams, who has 3 Sweet 16s and an Elite 8 on his resume at that school. Wojo has the Eagles back to 20 wins seasons, but can he take that next step and lead Marquette to a deep run in March. Key Player: Markus Howard (5'11 Junior) This guard has been a scoring machine and has been one of the better players in the Big East for the past year and a half. He already has a 45 point outing against Kansas State, and a 37 point outing against B-C. He is a volume scorer and is very good at the free throw line. UND is going to need to keep him off the line and keep him cold from the field. Milestone Watch: 27 - Points that Seales is away from 1000 career points. Odds are he will accomplish this against UNI but should be able to do it before 2018 is out. Key Questions: 1) Does Marlon make his debut? After sitting out the first part of the season due to academics, it is assumed that Marlon will finally be on the court for this young squad. For the time being, I would suspect he would come off the bench until he finds his game legs. For UND, this will be a welcomed addition, giving them another ball handler and experienced scorer. If he has improved his 3 point shot, he can really solidify the rotation. 2) Who will get off to a good start: UND or Marquette Its possible that Marquette comes out with two potential mindsets: Lets crush this team early or We really can go through the motions. No matter how they start, UND needs to get off to a better one and punch them in the mouth early. If they can do that, get a little confidence early... who knows? 3) Can UND continue to grow and progress as a team? There's about a 99.99% chance that Marquette wins and wins big, so UND can look at this as another opportunity for growth. You got nothing to lose: Hit some shots, play great D, and keep getting better before Summit play starts in 10 days. The call: This is a bit of a trap game for Marquette and can easily be a game where they go through the motions. Could this be the Gonzaga game from last year? I'm not really feeling it. I expect UND to play well, but the Eagles will be too much. Marquette 95-70 Game is on FoxSports Go and FSN North+
  7. So they fire Hak and of course they promote their stud goalie the same day.... totally not coincidental.
  8. Jets win yet another one in OT and find themselves in 1st place in the Central. They need to go all in this year as they have some tough contract decisions ahead next season.
  9. They should play at the Pentagon... it would be perfect for Augie
  10. So now who do they get for a QB in this class?
  11. I'm not sure about Brooks, I figured he would have gotten more run. Marko just doesn't look ready, he really needed to redshirt. The game is just way too fast for him right now. I could have sworn that he came in at 17 years old. I think he will eventually turn into a nice player who can stretch the defense. Jal... I guess he is still too raw to be out there consistently. I'd like to see him get minutes.
  12. RPI is dead, NCAA doesn't use that to determine NCAA spots anymore. Here is the new one https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-men/d1/ncaa-mens-basketball-net-rankings
  13. The song was playing in the background as I type that last night. I thought it was appropriate
  14. They can complain, but where is DU going to go? Want to go back to the WACky WAC who hangs on by a thread? Big West won't touch them with a 39.5 foot poll.
  15. and about to upgrade at QB next year......
  16. UND wins 83-66. It was a tail of two games for me. On the offensive side of the ball, it was a pretty decent performance. Seales had it going tonight, Rebraca had a decent game in the paint, Moody was hitting shots in the first half before saddled with foul trouble that limited his time in the 2nd half. Brown hit some shots late. Can live with the 41.7% from 3. Defensively... not that impressive. Wish they had crushed them a little more on the boards (41-35 advantage to UND) but more concerning was Mayville making UNDs on-ball defense look terrible. Too many times Mayville was able to get the angles against the defense in which they could drive and get to the basket, or kick it outside for a open shot. Either it was them being quick or UND being lazy on defense. This cannot happen going forward Congrats to Avants on getting to 1000 career points, hopefully with that out of the way he can play loose for the rest of the year. Seales should have a good shot of passing it before 2018 is out. The more I was Rebraca, the more impressed I am. He still needs to grow in a few areas and that will come with time, but he is the best post player UND has brought in since Brekke. Put 15-20 pounds on him, expand his range a little, teach him not to block everything, and he will be a 1st teamer in the Summit. Moody needs to be a little more consistent in his shooting and not be so streaky, but I love that he is being more aggressive in attacking the rim. So who does Marlon replace in the starting lineup: Panoam or Brown? Thought we would see him tonight, but maybe not until Tuesday. Done with the <bleeping> non-d1s... lets see how they can do against a Marquette squad that has beaten 2 ranked teams already this year and a UNI squad that is around .500 before Summit play starts.
