  1. Walter made 3 free throws he is 22 of 23 so far on the season
  2. 27-19 UND with 3:35 to go UND is 10-12 from the line vs DU 4-4.
  3. 15-11 UND at the under 8 Rebraca leads the way with 7 points it appears.
  4. 2 of 13 from the field yuck 9-5 DU at the under 12
  5. I wonder how much his back played a role in this....
  6. SDSU is beatable this year (injuries to their 2 best players) but still be tough, USD will be a tall task.
  7. Speaking of injuries... anybody have anything as to when Moody will be coming back?
  8. Their PG has been out for a while (just returned during WIU after being out a month but appears to be rusty). They still have the talent to win it but they need to play a lot better and get their PG healthy.
  9. Yotes fall to 0-2 in conference play as they give up 47 2nd half points to Fort Wayne. Not the start they envisioned.
  10. Fingers crossed that its the Jets that play against them..... please please please
  11. UND finished their non-conference schedule with an expected loss to Oregon State, despite a bright performance from Brady Danielson. Now the 2nd season is about to start for UND as they start their 2nd year of Summit League Play with a trip to Denver, who is going through a youth movement once again About Denver: When DU joined the Summit in 2012, there was some discussion and expectation that the Pios would be capable of breaking through the monopoly that the Dakota schools had on the Summit League when it came to NCAA tournament. So far, that has not been the case. In fact, there has been more years where DU has finished near the bottom of the league than at the top of the league, and given what has happened recently, it doesn't look like that is going to chance. Last year, they were favored to be one of the teams to challenge for the crown, only to crash and burn to dead last and missing the chance to go to Sioux Falls. It was at that time, where DU decided to go young. The squad has 7 sophomores on scholarship and only 2 upperclassmen, which only one is getting any significant minutes this season. Given all of that, it would mean a very solid DU team for the next two years, but at some point they have to breakthrough. About Rodney Billups: The younger Bro of NBA great Chauncy Billups, Rodney is in his 4th season (43-62, 19-28 Summit) at Denver. His first two years at DU were around .500, but was good enough to be in the top-half of the Summit. It all fell apart last year, which lead to the beginning of the youth movement that we see today. It could start to bear fruit this year, but missing Sioux Falls again could start to ask some difficult questions. Key Player: Ade Murkey (6'5 Senior Guard) I guess he would be considered the old man of the team, but the Senior from Minneapolis is winding down a solid career at Denver. He should end up with 1000 career points by the time his career is all said and done. Shooting his best from 3 pointer so far (around 40%) and has increased his rebounding numbers (5.6 per game) and his point total as shot up as well (14.7 a game). He has been a great leader for this young squad and hopes to lead DU back to the top of the conference. UND Conference Facts -While UND went 0-8 against the I-29 schools last year, they did go 6-2 against the other schools in the Summit League -UND needs to buck some traditions of slow starts to conference seasons. Going back to 2012-13 season when they moved to the BSC, they are 1-6 in conference openers. If you look further out, they are 13-21 in the first quarter of the conference season (first 5 games of the BSC, first 4 games of the Summit). Series History: UND swept the series last year and has a 3-2 all time series lead over DU. So far they are 2-0 against them since joining the Summit. Stats: Milestone Watch: Marlon currently sits at 868 career points, he needs 132 more points to get to 1000 career points, which he should be able to get sometime during the conference season Other Games: Wed 1/1 USD (0-1) @ Fort Wayne (0-0) USD trying to bounce back and get healthy after losing surprisingly to WIU. Fort Wayne starts the conference season, hoping that despite massive losses they can still be a top-tier Summit team. Thur 1/2 WIU (1-0) @ NDSU (1-0) No surprises for NDSU as they took down DU and is 1-0. WIU on the other hand, got a nice win against USD to start their campaign. Can they pull another stunner in Fargo? Or will the Bison roll to 2-0 as expected? ORU (0-0) @ SDSU (0-1) ORU has the talent in the post and a zone defense to make a run, the question is that do they have the guard play? SDSU lost a nail biter down in Omaha and cannot afford to drop another. Keys: 1) Senior Leadership 2) Take care of the ball 3) Help from the Bench The Call: UND needs to do something they haven't really done during conference play, start conference play 1-0. Fortunately they have a great opportunity to do so. Denver has a lot of talent, but it is young. UND does as well, but I think they need to lean hard on their 3 seniors and Rebraca on this one. Shoot well, take care of the ball and get home 1-0, which is what I am expected them to do. UND 82-72 Game is on Altitude 2
  12. I was curious when I saw this but when I read it and saw it...... move on GF Herald, your hatred is still showing.
  13. I think Clemson can hang in there with LSU, if Lawrence can match Burrow (which he is more than capable of doing)
  14. Pack by a mile. Have a 1 seed to play for and they are laying an egg
  15. They have responded quite well, game has turned since that targeting call.
  16. Also need to add that Summit Play starts as well tomorrow SDSU @ Omaha NDSU @ DU USD @ WIU
  17. UND went down to Lincoln and did something that no other UND team has done since they have moved to D1: Beat a P5 school. They led most of the way and held on to a 1 point win to give UND one of its biggest wins in the program's history. Now, UND heads out west for their final non-conference game to try and do it again against an Oregon State Beavers squad, with a familiar head coach to UND fans. About OSU The Beavers have been a team that has been in the shadow of their in-state rivals for quite a while now. While the Ducks have been making deep runs in March Madness, the Beaves have been a middle to lower tierd Pac-12 team. Usually this would mean in certain years that would be good enough to make the NCAA tournament, which it did in 2016. However, due to the lack of the strength of the PAC 12 (in only getting 2-3 at large bids the previous few seasons), this has relegated them to other postseason tournaments. However, things appear to be on an upswing. After a disaster 5-27 mark in 2017, there has been steady improvement since then. Including a blazing 9-2 start to the season. There is still questions to how "legit" OSU is this year given that their strength of schedule is very weak. The Beavers are hoping to make the next step and start to finish in the top half of the conference and start to take some attention away from their bitter rivals. About Wayne Tinkle: Tinkle is now in his 6th year of coaching at Oregon State and 14th overall (238-173 overall, 158-69 at Montana 80-84 at OSU). He spent the first 8 years at his alma matter, Montana and was quite successful. Never finishing worst than 4th in the conference and went to the dance 3 times. His best teams were the 2011-12 and 2012-13 squads with Will Cherry as his best player. He has gone back to the NCAAs once at OSU, and outside of 1 year, has kept the Beavers around .500. Despite being picked 7th in the Pac-12 polls, they do have the talent to break through and get to the top of the Pac-12 and once again get them back to the dance. This year especially, since his son is playing his last year at OSU. Series History: This is the first meeting all time between the two squad, but Tinkle has a 5-2 overall record against UND from his coaching days in Montana. Key Player: Tres Tinkle (6'7 Senior) One of the better players in the conference, turn down the chance to go Pro to have one last shot to get OSU into March Madness and one more season with dad on the sidelines (can't blame him for wanting that). He is a do-it all big, who has adding a deadly shooting stroke to his game (shooting 50% from 3 so far this year). Teams best rebounder and can also distribute the ball as well (4.1 assists per game). Started with 4 double-doubles in his first 5 games, but hasn't had one since. Double-Digits in scoring in all 11 games and 6 of them have gone for 20+ points. Needless to say: he will be a handful. Stats: -Rebraca leads the Summit lead in FG%, Blocks and is 2nd in rebounding. -Marlon Stewart leads the Summit League in Assists Per game (4.8) and is 8th in 3 point % (tied with Walter with 40.3%) Milestone Watch: -Marlon Stewart enters the game with 849 career points (842 at UND, 7 at Creighton). He just needs 151 points to get to 1000 career points. So if he can maintain his scoring average, it would be the heart of the conference season when he would get it. (10 games would be at home against Western Illinois). Keys: 1) Build off of the Nebraska Performance (Keep taking steps forward to conference play) 2) Contain the Coach's Kids (Tinkle and Thompson) 3) Value possession of the ball (keep it around 12-15 turnovers again) 4) The stars need to play like stars (Marlon, Rebraca.. do you thing) The Call: Out front, OSU is much better than Nebraska, so this would be a bigger statement win than Nebraska. Can they do it? Well OSU has had some struggles against other lower-tiered teams, so it is possible if UND puts together a great effort. I think UND will put together another strong outing from Rebraca, Stewart and DAE, giving them a nice launching pad to the conference season, but OSU will be too much to handle. Beavers 87-72 Game is on Pac-12 Network for those who have that.
  18. Lets hope they have some ideas on how they can fix it moving forward, outside of moving the student section.
  19. I think they can make a postseason somewhere and have a winning summit record.... perhaps being the I-29 teams a few times this year would be a good start too.
  20. From what I’ve read from a couple of SDSU fans on their board is that he is good at getting the most out of a player.
  21. Its a nice start to the year with all of that youth. I want to see where they stack up against the SoDak schools. Have they started to close the gap with them? That is the question
