  1. I remember getting a $1.40 something to the American dollar then in the Peg. Got back all my PST and GST at the duty free store on the way back. Made for a real cheap outing to the Peg. You are right about the economics back then. Even a new stadium would have made it a hard sell. The Canadian dollar was extremely weak and the exchange rate. was to big of a hill to climb.
  2. Hockey fans Seattle-2,778 Hockey fans Quebec City-516,621
  3. Did anyone here know that the Seattle Metropolitans won the Stanley Cup in 1917? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle_Metropolitans
  4. The peg should have built the arena they have now then and they would not have left.
  5. Wouldn't that be too much for too small a market? Quebec I think would be better.
  6. Glendale was a lousy location. From the east valley it takes an hour or more to get there. Worst part is it is during rush hour. Traffic is not bad until the Broadway curve but after that it sucks. A better location like you said would have been Scottsdale. Or more like the east side or west side of 101 and McKellips on the res. All that is there are fields of cotton or corn. Look how well the Salt River Fields have done as an example.
  7. For the hockey fans out there looks like the Coyotes will be moving. The deal that was worked out for the arena and the buyer expired at midnight last night. The new Glendale City Council does not like the deal that had been worked out and will not make such a good deal the next time. Without the deal there is no way anyone can make any money with this team. Less than 9000 fans have been showing up for games this year. After their long run last year in the playoffs the fans bolted on them already. Glendale never should have build the arena to start with. This makes the Alerus deal look good in comparison.
  8. I remember it starting more like the 89-90 season. Not that bad at first. Then it got worse and worse until it is where it is at today.
  9. I wonder how many school's media guy comes onto the fan boards with updates and explanations like Jayson does? Thanks Jayson!
  10. If you maybe removed your maroon colored glasses you would see it.
  11. This bites since the bar has Direct and Cox has it on which I can get at home.
  12. This is very true. That first game was brutal. Last Saturday's was not bad at all and that was on a big screen. One thing I have noticed though is that as the tv gets bigger the picture gets blurrier. No DirectTV Friday means streaming time again.
  13. Fact is fact even when it hurts the poor Goofers feelings.
  14. Probably the same amount that the SiouxperFans use to bring into the old Ralph every game. Or any UND home game.
  15. Gophers were doing this back in 1989. Casey Hankinson and his brother Peter were great at it. The Little Troll Dave Spehar was almost the king. Ryan Kraft, Jonny Pohl, et al or simply any of the Gopher forwards for the last 25 years.
  16. The Gophers were doing this when Robbie was still playing termites.
  17. Since he admits that they know people are diving then why are the calling the penalties? Don't call them and see how fast they stop.
  18. Simple solution since Shepard admits that they know it is a dive. Don't call them. It would not take very long to realize that diving is not going to get a penalty it might stop.
  19. Dion why did you leave the west?
