This season was a failure. The goal of any offense is to outscore the opponent which they did not on the season and in most games. The goal of the defense is to not allow an opponent to score more than you which obviously was a massive failure this year. Neither of them did their fundamental jobs this year. Both sides of the ball have huge weaknesses that need to be fixed in order to be a legit program and make the playoffs every year. I will outline each position group for the 2013 outlook and what they need to improve on and what they should bring to the table next season. -OLine Key losses, Lynch McGurran Key replacements, Windfelt Hoerchner Hellman Possible starters Windfelt (So 6-6 296) Anderson (So 6-6 293) Walker (Jr 6-2 314) Kleason (Sr 6-4 291) Denui (Sr 6-8 304) Outlook, Kleason ended the season playing left tackle and playing very well. I wouldn't be shocked if he played OG or OT because he's a fantastic run blocking guard but also proved more than proficient at LT late this year. Walker will most likely replace McGurran, he's twice the athlete McGurran is and is more powerful, we'll see if he can close the gap on the scheme side of things. If he does he could be a great C. Anderson has HUGE upside, we're talking a taller Kuper type of upside. If he dedicates himself to being a lean mobile beast like Kuper then we may have ourselves an All American type guard for the next three years. Windfelt was very highly recruited out of high school and also has loads of upside. He looks to be a bit sloppy still and will need to trim down alot and get quicker and stronger this winter. He could end up being the key to the OLine next year since the other starters will have plenty of experience. Denui is obviously a very tall young man, he is also very agile for his size. He needs to get alot bigger and alot stronger this year. With his frame he should be able to dominate players and seal off his side of the line in pass protection and plow in the run game. Hoerchner has come a long way since last year when he got thrown around in his limited playing time. He matured nicely in the off season and could be a very valuable backup and will at the very least push the starters. He needs to continue to develop and get stronger and bigger. Hellman looks alot like McGurran at C. He's got nice size at 6-5 302lbs but needs to trim down and gain more muscle and strength to get more mobile and powerful. He should push walker at the C position and could even end up allowing Walker to move to OG to add depth. Meehan is a big boy at 6-6 306lbs but looks very sloppy. He needs to slim down and then bulk up this summer and get bigger all over. He is another one of the highly recruited guys from the 2011 recruiting class and needs to live up to his potential by putting in the work this winter. Next Up: RB/FB/TE

The talent isn't as much a question as is the work ethic and attitude of the team. You can be damn sure that the coaches will be all over guys this winter like they should have been all along. Sometimes you need to take a step back to take a leap forward.

I'm calling bull$%!#. I was there. I was looking at zeb to see what he was doing to prepare himself and he was just standing there ready to go. He never approached the coaches let alone started pleading with them. Basically everything you post should not be read by anyone because you're fabricating things to make the situation seem even more negative.

Montana's season has left their fan base reeling. Hell no I don't want a losing record, I want a team that wins the close games and doesn't get blown out by not showing up. Your post needs a good dose of pink font. This season was a complete failure. Davis' coach is retiring by the way.

He wouldn't even start. The only dropdown we need is at qb, or I guess at lb de dt db and rb for that matter

59 yards was in the other direction for the last time. Last year the wind was at his back for the last time. Coaches watch him warm up, think maybe they noticed he struggled with accuracy into the wind? As for the 4th down play they should have had Hendrickson in there and quick snapped them with a QB sneak since they would expect an outside run from the QB like the other two carries he had.
-
Well I had a pretty good perspective since I was at the game, the wind was not at his back. It had died down from earlier in the day but was most definitely from left to right and in his face. Flags don't tell you much by the way. I can remember many a practice at Memorial where the flags on each tower were in opposite directions.

With the wind at his back, aka the other direction.

Obviously spike the ball. 2nd and 10 with 30 seconds left. That gives you the opportunity to either run one more time to get a couple yards and the ball in the middle then spike, or some quick passes to get closer. More importantly it takes more time off the clock and gives UNC 0 chance of doing anything.

Obviously the defense was putrid this year but what does everyone think about coach Breitbach? He did a decent job without any passing game last year but this year it seemed like he gave up on the run a bit too much and it turned the offense into more of a finesse offense which didn't help rest the defense. He seemed to not be as ruthless on opposing defenses and let the foot off the gas peddle a few too many times.

I know people are trying to use last years game as an example with the 54 yard FG but the wind was at Zebs back last year and this year it was going diagonally into his face. From 51 yards even a little breeze can make a huge difference on the flight of a football, especially if the hold isn't perfect and the laces are facing either side.

I'm not sure we should fire him yet. I know people don't like his decision because it didn't work and all but if it had people would be praising him for coaching for the win and having confidence in his players to seal the game. Some heads probably do need to role in account for the defense..... it pains me to say it because I think Mannausau is a great guy and a good coach but it just isn't working out.
-
Maybe we should switch to the vaunted 5-3 defense to stop the run better next year? I thought the reffing was pour resterday....... My god..... Those poor seniors
-
Was I the only one who noticed how many times we got screwed at crutial times? That no call pi on Nichols on 3rd down was a killer. And that was one of many yesterday.
-
It's annoying to respond to people who can hardly read. I said I would've done something different on 4th down. The kick wouldn't have been a bad decision, but you can't blame a coach for having balls.
-
Those may have been different seasons, maybe.
-
Really? And where do you think that safety is? In the box. So, yea, lets run it when the defense is in a run heavy set with a safety blitz on tap. And you're right every coach tells the qb before the first game of the year not to take advantage of mismatches. Just forget I mentioned that, you clearly know that the chance of your kicker making a 51 yard FG for the win is wayyyyyyy higher than completing a pass to a WR who has 5 inches on a DB who is on an island.
-
Obviously some things need to change for this program to make the playoffs and be the best in the region again. This isn't a Fire Muss thread by the way.
-
This team doesn't quite have things clicking yet..... In other news the President is black.
-
One problem I have with the complaints from everyone about 'the bomb on 3rd and 1' is that you have jameer Jackson against a much smaller db in press coverage with no safety over the top. You take that shot 100% of the time. Now the fourth down was a different story, the personel on the field was ridiculous. Put Marcus in and do a read option with another option being a pass to a te. Runner jer up the middle was a head scratcher.

Going to be a beautiful day in greeley today for thie game. Time to send the seniors out on the right note and coaches out on the recruiting trail with a winning record and momentum. This game should be a good one, they're a lot better than their record.
-
46 shots huh? Did Chavon Mackey switch sports tonight?
-
Why can't the men's team put either numbers or an nd in the void on their jersey?

He's the one NDSU fan on this board that bring legit comments to conversations. He's not a troll. Just because he's an NDSU fan doesn't automatically make him a troll/douche. But I guess if you want to be a blind homer dbag like those on bisonville then by all means.

I didn't know every seat was filled for every home game for you guys. My bad, I must have confused you guys with someone else.
