I'm not sure they can pull a scholarship out of thin air. They have very few to hand out. Just another advantage to und. I expect him to come to und, it only makes sense. He could come here and be a legend for restoring the program to glory or just be another brick in the wall at ndsu.

Majoring in business management is a huge advantage for und.

Don't forget about coaching. Who would you rather have coach you if you are a talented young lineman? Greg Lotysz and Mussman or Fuchs.

That Marshall team would still kill anyone just because of Randy Moss. You could triple cover him with anyone and he'd destroy them like they were the Dallas Cowboys

We need a guy to plug in with the graduation of Lynch. Hopefully he comes and adds a mean streak to the line. Always need a little Minot grit on a football team.

You'd think we'd have the advantage here with coaching connections and history of minot guys playing here. Would he sit out a year?

It's not like I listed the whole team. Our receivers and QBs kick ass obviously, but besides that I didn't name much other than 2 really good linemen a 4 year starter in Brenneman our only LB who showed up this year and our kicker who is really good. Doesn't seem like I was out of bounds by any means. Remember he said top two. Goodman easily would be Olson's backup. Zeb would start. Our WRs would start. Our QBs would start. Kleason would start, Lynch would maybe start if not be a rotation guy at OT and OG, and Brenneman would at least get alot of playing time. You need more than a handful of players to do really well in the Big Sky. Lack of depth was one major downfall to this years team.

Point still stands. All those players listed would either start or be in the rotation at NDSU no doubt. Honestly you could even grab any OLB from UND and he'd play ahead of Thorsen since he's a QB/DB playing LB.

When you take over a team you kind of have to play the hand that is dealt you, in nussmans case it was no ace no face other than the freshman.

Recruiting is an inexact science to say the least. Kids can look like a sure fire great kid and turn out to be cancers off the field. Look at ndsu Bohl did well with players that weren't his. Then they weren't very good and he adjusted to right the ship and look at them now. Mussman inherited a huge mess and is just now recruiting on a somewhat fair level with everyone else and the ship is getting back on the right track. When Mollbergs class are juniors the team will be a complete reflection of mussman and how well he chose young men to represent und. It's on the brink of being great.

So what in your mind would show he has there cajones you speak of other than cutting a very talented lb and starting safety or suspending players for missing a class?

The coach can't pull leaders out of his ass. Sometimes guys develope into them while some others are natural born leaders and always have been. My point is that a coach can coach buy he can't play. There is no substitute for on field leadership from a teammate. Coach Bohl seemed to have no control when he had a locker room without any good leadership and now he looks like a genius thanks to players like Olson and Jensen. Without guys like that standards drop and so does the performance. An average coach can look really good thanks to the players and also can look like a chump thanks to the players.

I had a hall of fame coach in high school and we had a good amount of talent when I was a soph but the seniors didn't give 100% into doing the extra things and we didn't make it to state. So according to you its the coaches fault that there wasn't good player leadership? The coach can only do so much at some point the players need to do the extra things and execute on the field.

Und is soft. EWU is not soft. They just didn't start well. The EWU team that rolled und can and will beat anyone.

You can never count out EWU with how they can score.

Work ethic is a reflection of competition and leadership. Competition for playing time hasn't been what it should be at und the past 5 years and it shows. Now with the depth of the team either guys will bust their ass or watch a freshman play their position from the sidelines. Also there has to be alphas in the weight room and locker room to hold teammates accountable for a team to reach its potential. I hope that this next crop of fr will overtake the lazy seniors and improve the program.
