They'll get new pants too

A lot more guys stay than people think. Most of the guys that don't stick around all summer are from the west coast. Those guys need to stay now. With added deapth it'll be a must for guys to stay if they want to start.

Not what I said. He's got the tools to be a big time player. He's clearly a good big athlete. It's just that his throwing motion is pretty raw to say the least. I'm hoping we pick him up and refine his motion. He shows nice arm strength in his video so it's not like he can't throw the ball. With mechanics like that he could end up d2 but with raw talent like that he could end up with the gophers if he has a big senior year. I'm sure he's on the radar of the gophers due to his measurables.

I say bring in a lanky 6'3" goalie from Finland. Problem solved.
-
As with a lot of Minnesota boys. Luckily they continually miss studs and ndsu sdsu usd and us get to take advantage.
-
He's got T. rex arms when he throws. The ball isn't even above his head on most throws. Even with a 3/4 motion it's above the head. I've only seen Philip Rivers succeed with a motion like that in the last 15 years. It is possible but not preferable.
-
I was looking for that. Where did you find it?
-
If his mechanics don't change I don't see a whole lot of interest from D1 schools coming his way unless they're willing to refine his motion which could take over a year. He does have a D1 frame and arm strength though. Those two attributes alone can go a long way.

Don't forget about Dom Bennett. He'd be a nice addition. Could be the best guard on campus.

Mollberg looked really good. Bartels only incompletion was a drop by Hardin. Even in a spring game with only 10 throws that is impressive. If Bartels can throw a nice ball consistently he could win this job. That's the major advantage that Mollberg has on him right now is that all of his throws are tight and he doesn't float an ducks out there.

We'll see how his all important senior year goes

That kid has a great frame and has awesome foot quickness for a tall guy. Shows some pop on throws down field and nice touch. If we do offer him he'd be a project with how awful his mechanics are. His release point is where a 5'6" qb would be. He needs to extend his arm and flick the ball instead of leaning on it and pushing it down field. If he brings his elbow up his release point would be super high and almost untouchable by defenders and he would be able to throw the ball farther and put more spin on it. Even a 3/4 release would be a vast improvement. I kind of hope he doesn't fix his mechanics going into next fall so we can snatch him up and refine his tools and make him into a stud qb.

Choice. Some position groups are required to stay and it's 'highly encouraged'. Are ndsu players required to?
-
Yale is irrelevant since they just got hot late and rolled with it. They weren't that great all year long. 17th is not good considering there aren't 100+ d1 hockey teams.

I think it's a good thing that Robertson didn't get much action today. It means that the wr position is at the point where it takes more than talent to get a major role. It will make him work harder and the team better in the long run. He'll keep busting his ass and once he learns the play book he'll be a huge factor.
-
He looked good and quick and faster than last year. His problem issuing enough guys miss and being able to outrun the last man since he doesn't break tackles. I'd take Shaugabay over him right now though. No question.
-
Outside mostly. Put the db on an island. He made some really nice moves with the ball from the slot also. Hardin as very limited reps like he should since he has nothing to prove. He did look a step quicker and my explosive though. A little thicker as well.
-
I just realized I forgot to mention how good Shaugabay looked. Give that man the ball.
-
So many variables. It could be, mostly because last years offense didn't reach their potential because of the injury to Hanson. If the oline is up to snuff I think I could be. Mostly because of Golladay. He made my jaw drop today and he's only going to get better stronger and faster. If sparks emerges or they feed the beast that Shaugs is they will be very formidable.
-
I'm kind of pulling for Bartels since he's the underdog but in the end I think it will be Mollberg and his mobility and more consistent and tighter mechanics that will prevail. Either way we are set for the next 4 years at qb which is a luxury.

I though the spring game was great. No stupid fan participation crap like a few years ago. Guys weren't afraid to hit each other. Defense was playing fast and physical. Overall I thought it was a great showcase of the offense for the most part. The defense had some flashes but will need more time to gel and break in some young guys. Encouraging signs from both sides today. Golladay was a man amongst boys out there. He should be in the FBS, what a steal. He's so much stronger and faster than last fall. After this summer he will be even faster and stronger. The sky is the limit for him. I thought it was awesome that Hardin was hardly noticeable other than his dropped pass. The other WR shined today. Bridges made plays and is so elusive. He also showed his track speed on that 50 yard bomb when he outran everyone. Townsend is such a possession beast and has some strong mitts. Jackson is such a beast and gets so much YAC. Golladay was obviously untouchable. There were even Brown Fletcher and Young sightings today. This WR is special. QBs had their moments. Bartels throw to Jackson was an NFL throw, absolutely perfect. He also badly under threw Hardin with that duck down the middle that was dropped. Mollberg showed some nice wheels along with his impressive arm. Throws a little like Freund did when he played, but with a stronger arm and bigger frame. Both of these guys showed the tools to start and the mistakes of freshman today. Poor Jake Hanson just isn't a D1 QB but it was nice to see him with that perfect strike over the top to Bridges to make up for his mistakes today. The D line got some pressure on the QBs with the makeshift line in front of them which was good to see but needs to be taken with a grain of salt. I liked the overall energy of the defense though. Kotelnicki is injecting his passion for the game into these kids and it is going to pay immediate dividends. The fire that was missing last year may be on its way back thanks to him. The D looked faster as well. unfortunately we didn't get to see Edwards Woodsmall or Labat but the rest of the young guys made some good plays. I liked what I saw but we still need alot more out of the D by next fall. Today was a nice step in the right direction at the very least.

I thought he was below par to start he season then about midway through something clicked and he played more physical and trusted his hands and skating ability again. Put 20 pounds on him this summer and he'll be pretty damn good. O And he's got a great shot.
-
We could end up with a stacked deck at qb ala ndsu in the next couple years. From a liability to a strength just like wr. Hopefully out d follows suit with that.
-
Even jake Hanson is taller and so much stronger and more athletic.

Who would have the 2-5 d in the nation then?
