It seems like schools that had a ton of success before the 70s are labeled as powerhouses forever unless they really fall off or change their motivation like the Ivy League schools did. Michigan is a great example in hockey and football. Their pre 1970 success is amazing, post is still very good but nothing compared to their reputation. NDSU since the 60's has been better than everyone at any level at football it's just how it is. UND is pretty similar in hockey. Maybe that means 4 straight is around the corner? Probably not but it would be nice.

Last year they definatly didn't run out of steam. They just took the foot off the gas thinking the clock would run out.... It didn't. Frattins team also didn't run out of steam. Michigan played a Minot style game and relied heavily on the TV timeouts. Without those timeouts I feel like they wouldn't have been able to keep pace with that UND team for the whole game.

I'm not saying they should try and lose but there have been some recent UND teams that seemed to run out of steam.

Theyll have to play and beat strong teams if they want a green banner. I don't like when a team goes from a bad team to a strong one the next game.

Would losing to cc be catastrophic? Let's say we lose 2-1 to them how far would our ranking dip?

Does anyone hope we lose in the second round of the NCHC tournament so that our team will be more fresh when it really counts? I mean it's nice to win the conference tourny and all but it hasn't seemed to translate to a strong finish in the big tourny

You can tell that to yourself as much as you want but when that game rolls around you will feel it. You probably won't admit it but you'll know it.

Easily. All the years of hypothetical ass kicking come to fruition with a real one. We missed out on what would have been great games in 2006 and 2007. Other than those years the outcome would have been predictable. I think everyone basically knows what to expect from NDSU next season. It's not knowing what to expect from UND that will make this intriguing. The excitement is going to be palpable by fall camp no matter how much both sides will downplay it.
