  1. Seems like a great kid. Lots of potential too. Coaches were always high on him. Sometimes things just don’t work out for whatever reason. See Hoos at UNI.
  2. Really it was thanks to laying an egg at SIU and NDSU. 8-2 heading into the dome would’ve looked a lot better to the committee.
  3. Gotta think the offense will be better at every spot with the exception of RB. Need to hit a transfer there again to compliment what we currently have. D can’t possibly be worse right? It’s gonna be transfer city on d. Better simplify things so the transfers can actually play game 1 and be comfortable. This year our toughest games were kind of spread out. Next year we have a five game stretch of Boise, SDSU, WIU, NDSU, UNI. That’s tough. Add in USD on the road and our schedule is tougher next year in my eyes. I’m comfortable predicting 6 wins. Those 5 other games will be a test and a half. Gotta see some splashes in the portal to feel confident about next year at all.
  4. Well we outbid NDSU so you never know. That would be an interesting number.
  5. Apparently bidding. Dollar Bill went in with the hammer.
  6. He’s the best recruiter we’ve had in D1
  7. 6 hr drive to DeKalb from Plymouth. 4.5 to gf.
  8. He would’ve played a ton for us this year. That move made zero sense.
  9. At some point we just need to say !@#$ everyone and be like the Raiders back in the day. Just win baby!
  10. The best option is a G5 combo with the top tier of FCS to create a playoff with 16 teams. That would be a true FCS. Not sure what to do with the teams that would get left behind, D2 football only?
  11. The irony of this is how bad we are against running qbs even though we use a system designed to stop……. Running qbs
  12. You know they have talent. That was always the most embarrassing tale of the tape. Idaho St with dudes all over the place making our team look like D3 players. Then we’d go out and win because they’re a mess.
  13. We did lose a lot but not enough to give up 30+ a game. No excuse for that.
  14. Lol, says big names, forgets Turner and Larson adds Lickfeldt.
  15. We’ve had varying levels of personnel in D1 but the results have never been good enough. That’s enough for me to suggest the scheme ain’t working.
  16. Malcom Gladwell would say their success is more a product of timing than of ability.
  17. Just to add some perspective on our defense. We have had at best a good defense 4 times since 2012. In years '16 '19 '20 and '21 we averaged at or under 22.0 ppg. The best being last year at 20.27ppg. That's modest success defensively but it's enough to win games if your offense is worth its salt. Since 2012 we have averaged 26.7 ppg. In that same time frame the average ppg for national champion defenses has been 14.1 ppg. JMU is the outlier in that group allowing over 20 ppg at 21.2, however, they scored 46.67 ppg to offset their decent at best defense in 2016. Basically, if we want to make deep playoff runs we need to score on average over 30ppg and give up under 20ppg. We've had plenty of offenses hit that mark and all of 0 defenses. 0, zip, zilch, nada. All but two of those seasons we've had a head coach who is a former defensive coordinator. It's not good enough. Never was, never will be. It's always about the defense in the playoffs and our playoff record in D1 is appropriately atrocious when you look at the stats. We need to get better on d and stay that way.
  18. Last years defense was decent, not even close to great. 20.27 ppg will never be considered great. Matter of fact we haven’t averaged under 20 ppg in D1.
  19. And I assumed Bubba would keep us stocked with really good LBs but here we are
  20. I think you need to add the FCS caveat because there are elite 3-4s in the FBS
  21. My number one issue with how we recruit is there isn't any balance. It's like we can only focus on a couple positions and improve them while neglecting others.
  22. I guess we might as well look at what we have coming back. QB: everyone. This group is mostly an asset. RB: lose Hoos which sucks, i wish we could have him another year. What a stud. Other losses are Moe-Tucker to the portal and likely Skokna ages out? This group needs a good transfer and fr. We will only have 4 RBs returning. Ziebarth is an x factor with his size and speed, hopefully he can step into a big role. WR: Lose Maag. I'm not sure what to make of this group. Bo is an animal obviously. I think there's some potential with Dennis, DeMontagnac, and Wright. But as a whole this group is weak. Everyone knows how I feel about it, too white and slow. It's not hard to find good WRs these days with how the game is played in all parts of the country. TE: Lose Steckler and Zavalney. We've actually got a really nice group here, we just don't use them enough. I want to see more of Gunderson, he's got all the tools. Steck intrigues me as well. Norby is a nice player as well. I also look for Thaden to end up at OT before he's done here, kid's huge. OL: Lose Christian and Oliphant. Ventrelli might come back for a final year, has this been confirmed? Kilty, Anderson, Hagen, Carrol, Lotysz and Bryant are a nice core. If a couple of Kelzenberg, Becher, Borud, and/or Kuntz develop we should be in business and better on the OL. We need this group to become the strength of the program with a legit 2 deep at every spot. We're not quite there yet but could be close. DL: Lose Morrison, Ogbu, Johnson and Ledbetter. This group was not good this year. McNaboe made some plays here and there but, as a whole, they didn't do what our system requires. Beech and Orlando at least look the part. Schultz has legit potential i think. We will see if Teiken can make good on the hype. Other than that it's meh at best. Not looking good for next year. LB: Lose MVJ, White, Cooper, Krzanowski, and Mullin. We are dead at OLB, and I mean dead. I have no idea who can make a play out there. I thought Navratil would have a huge season and he did all of nothing. I think Kelley and Pedigo can get it done in the middle. This group overall just straight sucks which is inexcusable given the system we run. We should be loaded. We have been in the past. What happened? LBs are as easy to find as WRs. The roster management here has been an absolute travesty. CB: Lose anyone? I actually like the potential of Ocannsey, Bliuett and Dixon. But they're very young and our system doesn't allow young guys to flourish. S: Lose nothing because we have nothing. I've never seen a worse position group. It's bad. Get 6 transfers here and see if any can play. Maybe a couple of these guys, KK and Koshiol, can slide down to OLB and be productive? Looks like we will be potentially better on O and potentially worse on D. I guess we will score 40 per game and give up 39.9 per game and lose first round of the playoffs. Nice.
  23. Last two games this year our opponent threw 12 and 11 passes to score 42 and 38 points. What’s that say about the state of our front 7? Now add in how bad our secondary was this year and wrap your head around that. Just brutal.
  24. Nobody is beating their chest, I’m just calling you out for your propensity to blow things out of proportion with a negative slant. YSU on the road was a legit good win. And idk if you’ve seen my other posts but I’m not exactly defending much about this program atm.
  25. YSU was not a cupcake. I get that we’re all pissed about this season but let’s at least be accurate.
